  • Ryan Feltner SP | COL

Rockies' Ryan Feltner: Handed tough-luck loss

Feltner (1-8) yielded two runs (one earned) on four hits and three walks over seven innings Monday, striking out six and taking a loss against the Reds.

Feltner gave up a pair of runs in the fourth inning of what was otherwise a strong outing. He generated 14 swinging strikes on 92 pitches, his best output since forcing 22 whiffs in Philadelphia on April 17. He's 0-2 over his last three starts despite allowing just four earned runs over 18 frames during that stretch. Feltner lowered his ERA to 5.29 through 98.2 innings but hasn't picked up a win since April 12. He's currently lined up for a road matchup with the Mets this weekend.

  • Andrew Abbott SP | CIN

Reds' Andrew Abbott: Fires seven shutout frames

Abbott (9-6) allowed three hits and two walks over seven scoreless innings Monday, striking out eight and earning a win over the Rockies.

Abbott was dominant Monday, retiring nine straight batters to begin the game and allowing just two runners to reach scoring position. He forced a season-high 19 whiffs; eight of those came via the fastball while his sweeper caused another seven. Abbott has won four straight starts and seven of his last nine dating back to May 21. He's allowed three or fewer earned runs over his last seven outings, posting a 2.70 ERA during that span. Abbott will carry a 3.06 ERA into his next start, which is lined up to be at home against Miami.

  • Keider Montero SP | DET

Tigers' Keider Montero: Dazzles in no-decision Monday

Montero tossed 6.1 scoreless innings but did not factor into the decision in Monday's game against the Guardians. He allowed three hits and a walk, while striking out four.

Montero certainly pitched well enough to earn his second win in the majors, but Gavin Williams was equally as impressive for Cleveland, though the Tigers scored once in the eighth for a 1-0 win. After allowing nine runs over 8.2 innings in his first two MLB appearances, Montero has turned things around, allowing just two runs across 12.2 innings in his two most recent outings. The 24-year-old has good stuff, and given his recent performances, he may stick in the rotation for the foreseeable future. He's currently penciled in to start again Saturday against the Dodgers before the All-Star break.

  • Miles Mikolas RP | WAS

Cardinals' Miles Mikolas: Twirls gem for seventh win

Mikolas (7-7) earned the win Monday at Washington, allowing six hits with no walks over 6.2 scoreless innings. He struck out three.

The veteran right-hander posted his second scoreless outing and 11th quality start of the season with this 93-pitch performance. Mikolas allowed just one extra-base hit -- a double by Keibert Ruiz in the fourth -- working around five singles en route to his 61st career win. The 35-year-old now owns a 4.88 ERA, 1.21 WHIP and 75:18 K:BB across 107 innings this season. He is currently not scheduled to make another start until after the All-Star break.

  • Diamondbacks' Jordan Montgomery: Cleared for mound work

Montgomery (knee) will throw a 20-to-25 pitch bullpen session Tuesday, Alex Weiner of ArizonaSports.com reports.

Montgomery resumed flat-ground work over the weekend and has now been cleared to try things from the bump. The veteran left-hander is eligible to return from his right knee injury on Sunday, and it would appear possible that he'll be ready by that time. However, the Diamondbacks could also elect to push Montgomery's return until after the All-Star break in order to allow him extra time to heal.

  • Diamondbacks' Eduardo Rodriguez: Throwing off mound Tuesday

Rodriguez (shoulder) will throw a bullpen session Tuesday, Theo Mackie of The Arizona Republic reports.

Rodriguez got the green light to pitch off the mound Tuesday after his MRI on Saturday showed his left shoulder had fully healed. Since the 31-year-old hasn't pitched this season, he will need multiple bullpen sessions before embarking on a rehab assignment. Barring any setbacks, Rodriguez could return from the injured list in late July or early August.

  • Merrill Kelly SP | ARI

Diamondbacks' Merrill Kelly: Set to throw off mound Tuesday

Diamondbacks manager Torey Lovullo said Monday that Kelly (shoulder) will throw a bullpen session Tuesday, Theo Mackie of The Arizona Republic reports.

Kelly recently upped his throwing distance to 120 feet, and Tuesday will mark the first time he's thrown off the mound since straining his right shoulder in April. It's a positive step in the 35-year-old's throwing program, though the right-hander isn't expected to come off the injured list until mid-to-late August. In the four starts prior to his injury, Kelly was 2-0 with a 2.19 ERA and 0.93 WHIP over 24.2 innings.

  • Nationals' Mitchell Parker: Fans six in loss

Parker (5-5) took the loss Monday against the Cardinals, allowing two runs (one earned) on six hits and one walk over seven innings. He struck out six.

After pitching to a 5.82 ERA across 17 innings over his last three outings, Parker looked much sharper against St. Louis, tossing his sixth quality start of the season. The Washington rookie yielded just one extra-base hit -- a 415-foot solo shot to Paul Goldschmidt in the fourth. Although the 24-year-old southpaw hasn't tallied a win since June 16, he has been a dependable starter overall with a 3.44 ERA, 1.09 WHIP and 74:19 K:BB across 91.2 innings. Parker is tentatively scheduled to pitch against the Brewers on the road in his next start this weekend.

  • Antoine Kelly RP | CHC

Rangers' Antoine Kelly: Jettisoned from 40-man roster

The Rangers designated Kelly for assignment Monday.

Kelly, 24, has had a rough 2024 campaign, first missing time with a shoulder issue and then posting a 9.35 ERA and 24:22 K:BB across 17.1 innings. However, the left-hander thrived in 2023 upon a full-time move to relief, collecting a 2.04 ERA and 79:23 K:BB over 57.1 frames between the Double- and Triple-A levels. Kelly should draw interest via trade or waivers.

  • Yilber Diaz RP | DET

Diamondbacks' Yilber Diaz: Called up for debut Monday

The Diamondbacks selected Diaz's contract from Triple-A Reno and he will start Monday against Atlanta.

After 11 starts with Double-A Amarillo to start the season, Diaz was promoted to Reno on June 11, where he has posted a 3.27 ERA, 1.23 WHIP and 28:9 K:BB over 22 innings. The 23-year-old right-hander will make his major-league debut Monday against an Atlanta team that ranks 12th and 13th this season in home runs (100) and OPS (.713), respectively. Diaz is likely to return to Reno following Monday's outing.
