Gonzales (1-0) picked up the win Friday in a 4-1 victory over the White Sox, allowing one run on seven hits over five innings. He struck out four without walking a batter.

The veteran lefty pitched well in his return to the big-league rotation, but Gonzales appeared to be in danger of taking a tough loss until the Pittsburgh offense got rolling in the fifth inning. He tossed an efficient 60 pitches (45 strikes) in his first big-league action since April 13, and with more rest coming over the All-Star break, Gonzales should be ready for a normal workload when he next heads to the mound.

Brown (7-6) picked up the win in Friday's 6-3 victory over the Rangers, allowing two runs on five hits and two walks over six innings. He struck out five.

The right-hander rebounded from a rough outing in Minnesota on July 6 to deliver his 10th quality start of the year. Brown has lasted at least six innings in 10 straight trips to the mound, posting a 2.36 ERA, 1.03 WHIP and 64:17 K:BB through 61 innings over that stretch as he puts his shaky first month of the campaign further behind him.

Heaney (3-10) took the loss Friday, giving up three runs (two earned) on five hits and two walks over five innings as the Rangers fell 6-3 to the Astros. He struck out five.

The veteran southpaw has been one of the unluckiest pitchers in the majors this season. Heaney hasn't allowed more than three earned runs in an outing since late April, posting a 3.00 ERA, 1.25 WHIP and 75:17 K:BB over his last 72 innings, but due to a lack of support from his offense and bullpen, he has just a 3-7 record to show for it. Heaney's in the final year of his current contract, and if Texas elects to become sellers at the trade deadline -- the defending World Series champs are six games under .500 and 7.5 games back of the final wild-card spot in the AL -- a change of scenery could be in store for the lefty.

Mahle (elbow) will throw three innings in the Arizona Complex League on Monday, MLB.com reports.

This will be the third rehab start for Mahle, who previously made a couple of two-inning starts, one for Triple-A Round Rock and one for Double-A Frisco. He threw 19 pitches and then 32 pitches in the first two rehab outings.

Dunning (shoulder) threw a live batting practice session Wednesday, MLB.com reports.

Texas manager Bruce Bochy said Dunning came out of the session "fine." This is Dunning's second stint on the injured list due to shoulder-related issues. Now that he's been moved to the bullpen, a rehab assignment could be a short one before the right-hander is ready to return.

Manaea (6-3) picked up the win Friday, giving up three runs on five hits and a walk over seven innings in a 7-6 victory over the Rockies. He struck out nine.

The veteran lefty served up two homers, but he did a good job of minimizing the damage on a night when the two teams combined for nine long balls -- the highest single-game total in MLB this season. Manaea has delivered three straight quality starts, giving him six on the year, and he's allowed three runs or fewer in six straight trips to the mound, a stretch in which he's gone 3-0 with a 2.02 ERA, 0.98 WHIP and 36:15 K:BB through 35.2 innings.

Gordon (0-2) took the loss Friday as the Rockies were downed 7-6 by the Mets, coughing ups six runs on eight hits -- including four home runs -- and two walks over three-plus innings. He struck out three.

The two teams combined for nine long balls on the night, the highest single-game total in the majors this season, and Gordon took the brunt of it. Harrison Bader in particular had the rookie right-hander's number, blasting a second-inning fastball over the fence in left-center field before ripping a hanging slider down the left-field line in the fourth. Gordon has served up six homers in 9.1 innings over his first two big-league starts, and with German Marquez (elbow) on the verge of coming off the IL, Gordon's likely headed back to Triple-A Albuquerque where he's been tagged for nine homers in 33.2 innings.

Kelly (shoulder) threw 32 pitches in a bullpen session Friday, MLB.com reports.

Kelly completed his second bullpen session of the week and looks like he could be ready to face hitters as soon as next week The right-hander has been on the shelf since April 23 with a right shoulder strain and is tentatively expected to return in early August.

Rodriguez (shoulder) threw 30 pitches in a bullpen session Friday, MLB.com reports.

Rodriguez got up and down twice during the workout in what was his second throwing session of the week. The left-hander has been on the shelf all season with a left let strain and is expected to return from the 60-day injured list in early August.

Montgomery (knee) threw a two-inning simulated bullpen session Friday, MLB.com reports.

Montgomery threw 40 pitches and got up and down twice in his second bullpen session of the week. The Diamondbacks believe he'll be ready to go for the first turn of the rotation following the All-Star break. The left-hander was placed on the injured list July 2 with right knee inflammation.
