Kelly (8-9) took the loss Sunday against the Guardians, allowing five runs on eight hits and four walks while striking out five over five innings.

Kelly surrendered a leadoff solo homer to Patrick Bailey in the third inning as part of a two-run frame. The right-hander ran into more trouble in the fifth, when five consecutive Cleveland batters reached safely, resulting in three more runs. Arizona's offense offered no support, as the Diamondbacks were shut out in the defeat. The four walks matched Kelly's highest total since April 28. He'll carry a 5.04 ERA, 1.49 WHIP and 76:46 K:BB over 114.1 innings into his next scheduled start Friday against the Dodgers.

Canning (3-9) earned the win Sunday against San Francisco. He allowed one run on two hits and no walks without recording a strikeout over two innings of relief.

The right-hander was the third pitcher used by San Diego, and despite covering just two innings while surrendering a solo homer to Osleivis Basabe (forearm), Canning was credited with the win. He has struggled mightily this season in both starting and relief roles, posting a 6.58 ERA, 1.55 WHIP and 67:32 K:BB across 67 innings (17 appearances). The 30-year-old's spot on the roster could come into jeopardy if the Padres make any moves to bolster their pitching staff before Monday's trade deadline.

Atlanta acquired Mahle from San Francisco on Sunday in exchange for right-hander Anthony Molina, Ken Rosenthal of The Athletic reports.

Mahle will head to Atlanta after turning in a 5.13 ERA and 1.39 WHIP with 89 strikeouts over 94.2 innings in 18 starts with the Giants this season. The right-hander has struggled with his consistency on the mound, posting six starts during which he allowed one or zero runs while also surrendering five or more runs on six occasions. Mahle will likely immediately slot in to Atlanta's starting rotation after Reynaldo Lopez (knee) was placed on the 15-day injured list Sunday.

Williams (11-6) earned the win Sunday against the Diamondbacks, allowing one hit and one walk while striking out 10 over 5.2 scoreless innings.

Williams was perfect through five innings, piling up nine strikeouts, including five against consecutive batters. Tim Tawa finally broke up the no-hit bid with a leadoff single in the sixth, and a rain delay ended Williams' afternoon with two outs in the inning after he had thrown 89 pitches. The right-hander has now recorded double-digit strikeouts in five consecutive starts, compiling an incredible 55:3 K:BB across 32.2 innings with a 2.48 ERA during that span. Through 23 starts this season, Williams owns a 3.56 ERA and 1.04 WHIP, and his 178 strikeouts trail only Jacob Misiorowski for the MLB lead.

The Cubs acquired Gausman from the Blue Jays on Sunday in exchange for infielder Ty Southisene and outfielder Brett Bateman, Mark Feinsand of MLB.com reports.

Gausman, who is set to become a free agent this winter, will provide an injury-battered Cubs pitching staff with a top-of-rotation arm down the stretch. The right-hander has taken a step back statistically in 2026, but he was still more than serviceable for Toronto with a 4.38 ERA, 1.29 WHIP and 127 punchouts over 127.1 innings. Gausman had collected just five wins over his 23 starts, but he should see some improvement in that category with the move from a last-place team in the AL East to a Cubs squad that currently sits 14 games over .500.

Musgrove (elbow) is slated to make a rehab appearance for Single-A Lake Elsinore on Tuesday.

After undergoing Tommy John surgery in October 2024 and then suffering a setback in the spring when he experienced inflammation in his right elbow, Musgrove finally appears to be closing in on making his first appearance for the Padres in just under two years. Along with Musgrove, Nick Pivetta (forearm) -- who has been on the shelf since April 14 -- is also scheduled to kick off his rehab assignment Tuesday with Lake Elsinore. Given the length of his absence, Musgrove is expected to need most of his 30-day rehab window to get fully stretched out for a spot in the San Diego rotation, so he may not be cleared to return from the 60-day injured list until late August or early September.

Montero (8-6) allowed two hits, two walks and a hit batsman while striking out two over six shutout innings to earn the win Sunday over the Athletics.

Montero has started his last three outings, allowing seven runs (five earned) over 15.2 innings with an 11:3 K:BB in that span. The right-hander looks to have some extra security to stay in the rotation for the rest of the year after the Tigers dealt Tarik Skubal to the Dodgers on Saturday. Montero has pitched to a 3.17 ERA, 1.00 WHIP and 81:25 K:BB through 116.1 innings over 24 games (18 starts) in a breakout campaign this year. He'll have plenty of appeal with his next start projected to be on the road versus the Giants.

Jump (4-7) allowed six runs on four hits and six walks while striking out five over 3.2 innings to take the loss Sunday versus the Tigers.

Jump has walked at least four batters in three straight outings, giving up 12 runs with a 17:14 K:BB across 14.1 innings in that span. The rookie southpaw hadn't walked that many batters in any of his first 10 outings. He's now at a 4.59 ERA, 1.47 WHIP and 73:31 K:BB through 66.2 innings over 13 starts this season. Jump is at least doing a good job of limiting home runs -- he's given up just seven long balls, though he's been tagged for multiple homers three times. He's projected to make his next start at Boston.

Bradley did not factor into the decision Sunday, allowing three runs on seven hits and four walks over six innings against the Mariners. He struck out two.

Bradley ran into trouble early, allowing two runs in the first inning, but was able to limit the damage and record a quality start. Walks have been a bit of an issue for the right-hander all season and have ticked up even further of late, as he's issued at least three free passes in each of his past four starts. Overall, Bradley owns a 9-4 record with a 3.69 ERA, 1.24 WHIP and 141:53 K:BB across 126.2 innings (22 starts) and is tentatively scheduled to pitch Saturday against the Brewers.

Kirby did not factor into the decision Sunday, allowing five hits and a walk over seven scoreless innings against the Twins. He struck out three.

Kirby silenced the Twins offense across seven shutout innings, though a bullpen implosion kept him from being credited with the win. It was a much-needed bounce-back effort for the right-hander, who was tagged for seven runs in Monday's loss to the Rangers. Overall, the 28-year-old owns an 8-9 record with a 3.76 ERA, 1.28 WHIP and 110:26 K:BB across 127 innings (21 starts) and is lined up to pitch next weekend against the Rays.
