Aldegheri (0-1) allowed seven runs (two earned) on six hits, two walks and two hit batsmen while striking out three over five innings to take the loss versus the Mariners on Friday.

Aldegheri's first inning in the majors was nightmarish, as a two-out error by Zach Neto allowed the Mariners to assemble a five-run rally. Aldegheri settled in fine after that, but a two-run home run by Julio Rodriguez in the fourth would tack the first earned runs onto his line. The 22-year-old southpaw struggled to a 5.19 ERA over 17.1 innings at Double-A Rocket City after he was traded from the Phillies to the Angels in the Carlos Estevez swap. It's unclear if Aldegheri will make another start after this uninspiring debut -- if he does, he's lined up for a road outing versus the Rangers next week.

Kirby (10-10) earned the win over the Angels on Friday, allowing five runs on five hits and a walk while striking out two over 5.2 innings.

Aside from his usual sharp control, Kirby was a little off in his last start of August. He allowed three home runs to match his season high, though all of the long balls he surrendered Friday were solo shots. Kirby posted a 6.84 ERA over 25 innings across five starts in August, and he yielded nine of the 20 homers he's allowed all year in that span. Overall, the right-hander is at a 3.63 ERA, 1.11 WHIP and 153:21 K:BB through 161 innings over 28 starts. He's lined up to make his next start in Oakland.

Mize didn't factor into the decision Friday against the Red Sox, allowing four runs on six hits and a walk over six innings. He struck out four.

While his final line wasn't great, Mize was efficient in his first start in two months after recovering from a hamstring strain, making it through six innings on just 85 pitches. Overall, the right-hander is 2-6 with a 4.36 ERA, 1.43 WHIP and 62:22 K:BB in 17 starts (84.2 innings) this season. Mize will look for a better result in his next outing, currently lined up for next week in San Diego.

Sears (11-9) earned the win in Friday's 9-2 victory over Texas, allowing one run on five hits and two walks over seven innings. He struck out four.

The Oakland southpaw picked up his fifth win of the second half with this 97-pitch performance while earning his 11th quality start of the season. The only blemish on Sears' evening was a 406-foot solo homer allowed to Nathaniel Lowe in the second inning. The 28-year-old has been a solid contributor since the All-Star break, pitching to a 3.53 ERA, 1.10 WHIP and 41:8 K:BB across 51 innings. Sears is scheduled to make his next start at home against the Mariners.

Gray (5-6) took the loss Friday against Oakland, allowing four runs on three hits and two walks over 4.2 innings. He struck out five.

The Texas right-hander turned in his second consecutive poor start, allowing 11 runs over 6.2 innings since re-joining the rotation Aug. 24. Gray looked shaky from the get-go, allowing a solo homer to Brent Rooker in the first inning before yielding a three-run long ball to JJ Bleday in the third. Gray has struggled mightily in the second half, pitching to a 6.75 ERA, 1.27 WHIP and 13:5 K:BB across 17.1 innings while bouncing between the rotation and bullpen with an IL stint mixed in. He tentatively lines up to make his next start at home against the Angels.

Houck allowed three hits and two walks over six scoreless innings in a no-decision Friday against the Tigers. He struck out six.

After allowing six runs in a loss to Arizona in his last start, Houck bounced back with a scoreless effort, notching his fourth quality start in his last five outings. Overall, the 28-year-old Houck is 8-9 on the year with a 3.12 ERA, 1.17 WHIP and 143:46 K:BB across innings this season. He's currently lined up to face the Mets on the road next week in his next start.

Lowder (0-1) took the loss Friday against Milwaukee, allowing a run on two hits and four walks over four innings. He struck out six.

Lowder struggled with his command in his big-league debut, though the right-hander showed flashes of the potential that made him the seventh overall pick in the 2023 Draft. The 22-year-old made just one start in Triple-A prior to his call-up, pitching to a 3.64 ERA with a 1.15 WHIP and 113:24 K:BB in the minors this year. Lowder would line up for a road matchup with the Mets in his second start if he sticks around with the Reds.

Kershaw was removed from Friday's game against the Diamondbacks with left big toe pain, Alex Weiner of ArizonaSports.com reports.

Kershaw was only able to get through one-plus innings Friday before his toe forced him out of the game, during which he surrendered three earned runs on three hits and a walk. The 36-year-old will presumably undergo further testing to determine if he's dealing with any structural damage, and his status for his next start is uncertain.

Perez (5-4) allowed four runs on seven hits and three walks over five innings Friday, striking out four and earning a win over the Rays.

It wasn't a very clean outing for Perez, but San Diego racked up 13 runs to give him an easy victory. All four runs against him came during the second inning, capped off by a two-run shot by Yandy Diaz (knee). Perez is 2-0 with a 3.41 ERA over six starts since joining the Padres. For the year, he owns a 4.71 ERA with a 91:42 K:BB through 114.2 innings. Perez is currently in line for a home matchup against the Tigers next week.

Hall (1-1) earned the win against Cincinnati in the second game of Friday's doubleheader, allowing four hits and a walk over seven scoreless innings. He struck out five.

Hall was excellent in just his second big-league start since April. In two spot starts this month, the southpaw has allowed just one earned run while racking up 14 strikeouts over 11.2 innings. Overall, Hall sports a 4.82 ERA on the season with a 1.75 WHIP and 27:14 K:BB across 28 innings. While he figures to head back to Triple-A after the twin bill, he figures to be the first man up should the Brewers need rotation help down the stretch.
