Williams didn't factor in the decision Friday against the Angels after giving up four runs (two earned) on five hits and three walks over three innings. He struck out five.

The right-hander wasn't helped out by his defense as a two-out error during the third inning led to a pair of runs, but Williams created plenty of trouble of his own prior to that miscue. The 25-year-old needed 75 pitches to record just nine outs, which prevented him from having a chance at qualifying for the victory. Williams has yet to reach the 80-pitch mark in either of his two starts this season, but he lines up for a favorable matchup with the White Sox in his next turn through the rotation.

Schwellenbach (1-0) recorded the win after allowing two hits and no walks in eight innings Friday against the Marlins, striking out 10.

It was another masterful performance by Schwellenbach, who came into this one fresh off twirling six one-hit innings in his first start of the year against the Padres. The right-hander scattered two singles Friday, so he has now given up just three hits and one free pass while striking out 14 across 14 innings to begin 2025. Up next for Schwellenbach is a favorable matchup at home against Pittsburgh in his next scheduled start next week.

Zeferjahn was removed from Friday's game against the Guardians due to right hamstring tightness, Rhett Bollinger of MLB.com reports.

Zeferjahn was only able to record one out before getting hurt, though he remains without a run allowed through four appearances this season. He can be labeled as day-to-day for now, but the Angels may not deploy him out of their bullpen again until his hamstring is back to 100 percent.

Meyer (0-1) was handed the loss after allowing three runs on eight hits and two walks in six innings Friday against Atlanta. He struck out a career-high eight.

The right-hander kept Atlanta in check during his time on the mound, turning in a quality start before the Miami bullpen allowed seven runs. The third inning proved to be the most damaging for Meyer, who gave up a Marcell Ozuna two-run double and an Austin Riley RBI single in the frame. The 2020 No. 3 overall pick has flashed some upside out of the gates, having yielded just four earned runs with 15 strikeouts over 11.2 frames, and his slider has been especially devastating. Per Christina De Nicola of MLB.com, he's generated a 47.4 percent whiff rate on the pitch to begin the year, throwing it two miles per hour harder than in 2024 without sacrificing any movement. Even so, Meyer will be tough to trust in mixed fantasy leagues in his next projected start on the road against the Mets.

Luzardo (2-0) notched the win after throwing seven scoreless innings, allowing two hits and two walks Friday against the Dodgers. He struck out eight.

On the heels of fanning 11 in his first start of the season, Luzardo's next act saw him spin seven brilliant innings Friday against a stacked Dodgers lineup. Luzardo kept each member of the Los Angeles lineup out of the hit column besides Teoscar Hernandez, who got two knocks in three at-bats against him. The hard-throwing left-hander is set to face another tough test in Atlanta in his next start, which projects for the middle of next week.

Castillo allowed three runs on six hits and two walks while striking out two over three innings, taking a no-decision in Friday's extra-innings loss to the Giants.

Castillo's first major-league start was nothing to write home about. He allowed an RBI single to Matt Chapman in the first inning and a two-run double to LaMonte Wade in the second. Castillo finished with 39 strikes on 68 pitches and forced the Mariners to dip into their bullpen early, with all eight relievers getting action in this contest. Castillo's only other major-league experience came in 2022 with the Tigers, when he threw 3.2 innings scoreless innings of relief. The fifth spot in the Mariners' rotation remains unsettled until George Kirby (shoulder) is ready for his season debut, but if Castillo gets another turn, he's lined up to face the Astros next week.

Yamamoto (1-1) took the loss after allowing an unearned run on three hits and three walks in six innings Friday against Philadelphia. He struck out five.

Yamamoto contained a loaded Phillies lineup Friday, but he received no run support and was outdueled by Jesus Luzardo's seven shutout frames for the Phillies. Yamamoto allowed a lone extra-base hit on the night, which ultimately led to Trea Turner stealing third base and coming home to score on a Yamamoto throwing error. The star right-hander has now tossed at least five innings and given up two runs or fewer in each of his first three starts this year, and up next is a matchup in Washington next week.

Irvin didn't factor into the decision Friday against Arizona after allowing four runs on seven hits and one walk in five innings. He struck out three.

Just as Brandon Pfaadt did for the Diamondbacks, Irvin struggled to keep the ball in the yard Friday. Corbin Carroll got to Irvin for a two-run homer in the third inning and tagged the right-hander for another two-run shot in the fifth. Irvin now holds a 5.40 ERA and 1.70 WHIP with five punchouts over 10 innings to begin the campaign, and he won't be a recommended streamer in fantasy leagues in his next scheduled start against the Dodgers in the middle of next week.

Pfaadt (1-1) picked up the win after allowing four runs on six hits and no walks in six innings Friday against Washington. He struck out four.

The right-hander was plagued by the long ball Friday, giving up a solo homer to CJ Abrams and a two-run shot to Luis Garcia in the opening frame. Pfaadt settled in to throw four scoreless innings thereafter, but Nathaniel Lowe took him deep for a solo blast in the sixth frame. Pfaadt has handed out just one free pass to go with nine strikeouts over his first 12 innings of the year, but he'll carry a 5.25 ERA into his next scheduled start in the middle of next week at home against Baltimore.

Verlander allowed three runs on five hits and two walks while striking out two over 2.1 innings, taking a no-decision in Friday's extra-innings win over the Mariners.

Both teams dipped into their bullpens early, and the Giants had to because Verlander wasn't pitching well early on. He threw 44 of 65 pitches for strikes but gave up a solo home run to Julio Rodriguez in the first inning and got in more trouble in the third. The veteran right-hander's first year with the Giants is off to a mediocre beginning -- he's allowed five runs on 11 hits and three walks while striking out seven over 7.1 innings across two starts. He's tentatively scheduled for a home start versus the Reds next week.
