Vasquez (1-2) took the loss Monday against Detroit, allowing six runs on five hits and three walks over two innings with one strikeout.

The San Diego right-hander had to be lifted in the third without making an out in the inning after just 68 pitches. Reliever Logan Gillaspie then did Vasquez no favors, as Gillaspie allowed two inherited runners to score. Vasquez entered this contest with a sterling 1.74 ERA and exited with a much more ordinary 3.97 mark. He looks to bounce back in his next scheduled start against the Rays at home this weekend.

Schmidt (0-1) took the loss Monday at Cleveland, allowing five runs on seven hits and three walks over four innings. He struck out seven.

Despite inducing a respectable 13 whiffs in this 80-pitch outing, Schmidt struggled, coughing up four extra-base hits (two homers, two doubles). Things went off the rails for the New York right-hander in the third inning, when Jose Ramirez and Kyle Manzardo popped back-to-back homers to fuel a four-run, four-hit frame. After two starts, Schmidt now sports a 7.45 ERA, 1.66 WHIP and 9:5 K:BB across 9.2 innings. After shoulder fatigue delayed his season start, he will look to continue shaking off the rust in his next start against Toronto at home this weekend.

Williams (2-1) earned the win Monday against the Yankees, yielding two runs on seven hits and two walks over 6.1 innings. He struck out eight.

The 25-year-old was masterful in this 104-pitch outing, generating an astounding 21 whiffs. Williams stymied the Yankees until the seventh inning, when New York finally scored via a two-run bomb off Jasson Dominguez's bat. Perhaps Williams feels most at home in Cleveland, where he's pitched to a 2.38 ERA over 11.1 innings this season while sporting a 5.52 ERA across 14.2 road innings. The right-hander is currently slated to make his next start against the Red Sox at home this weekend.

Drake (back) registered six strikeouts and one walk across five scoreless innings Wednesday against Double-A Amarillo.

Drake got off to a slow start in spring camp due to a stiff back, but he's managed to recover and posted his best start of the 2025 campaign Wednesday. The 24-year-old fared well at Double-A a season ago, cruising to a 3.10 ERA and 1.09 WHIP with a 20:11 K:BB across 20.1 innings.

Tredwell (shoulder) was activated from the 7-day injured list.

Tredwell ended the 2024 campaign on the IL due to a shoulder strain but was able to make his 2025 debut April 10 with Single-A Fayetteville. He's had his swing and miss stuff working in his first two outings of the year, fanning 10 batters over 5.1 innings of work.

The Brewers transferred Cortes (elbow) to the 60-day injured list Monday.

The transaction frees a 40-man roster spot for the addition of Craig Yoho. Cortes now will not be eligible to return until June. He was given a platelet-rich plasma injection in his left elbow earlier this month to combat a flexor strain and has not yet been cleared to resume throwing, per Curt Hogg of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel.

The Brewers optioned Henderson to Triple-A Nashville on Monday.

Henderson was excellent in his major-league debut Sunday against the Athletics, striking out nine across six innings of one-run ball. However, with Tobias Myers (oblique) due back this week, there's no longer a need for Henderson in the Milwaukee rotation. Henderson should get the first call when the Brewers need rotation help in the future.

Atlanta placed Strider on the 15-day injured list Monday with a strained right hamstring.

Strider injured the hamstring while playing catch Monday, per Mark Bowman of MLB.com. He will be eligible to return May 3, but it's not clear whether the righty will be ready to go by that date. Strider had been slated to start Tuesday against the Cardinals and Atlanta is undecided on who will take the ball in his place.

The Astros hope McCullers (forearm/illness) will be ready to throw a bullpen session Tuesday or Wednesday, Brian McTaggart of MLB.com reports.

McCullers had to be scratched from his last scheduled rehab appearance this past Friday due to a stomach bug. If the right-hander is able to get through a bullpen session in the coming days without issue, he'll resume his rehab assignment this weekend. McCullers had been tracking toward a season debut by late April, but that timeline could be pushed back a bit.

Scherzer (thumb) played catch in the outfield at Daikin Park prior to Monday's game versus the Astros, Hazel Mae of Sportsnet reports.

Blue Jays pitching coach Pete Walker said afterward that Scherzer felt the session went "OK." The right-hander was throwing for the first time since receiving a second cortisone injection in his injured right thumb last week. Scherzer's timetable to rejoin the Blue Jays' rotation remains very much up in the air.
