Ritchie didn't factor into the decision Sunday against the Nationals, allowing two runs on four hits and three walks over four innings. He struck out four.

Making his first major-league start since June 23, Ritchie held the Nats scoreless through three innings before allowing two runs in the fourth. Overall, Ritchie sports a 4.50 ERA across 58 innings in the majors this season with a 1.43 WHIP and 53:36 K:BB. The 23-year-old rookie figures to get another look in Atlanta's rotation with Reynaldo Lopez (knee) on the IL. Ritchie currently lines up to face the Yankees on the road in his next outing.

Cavalli (8-5) took the loss Sunday against Atlanta, allowing three runs (two earned) on six hits and a walk across six innings. He struck out three.

Both earned runs charged to Cavalli came on a pair of solo home runs -- a Mike Yastrzemski blast in the third inning followed by Matt Olson's game-tying shot in the fourth. It's Cavalli's first loss since June 7, and the right-hander has turned in five straight quality starts, posting a 2.30 ERA across 30 innings in that span. Overall, Cavalli's ERA is down to 3.52 on the season with a 1.29 WHIP and 133:37 K:BB across 24 starts (122.2 innings). He's currently in line to face the Reds at home his next time out.

Canning is expected to pitch in bulk relief behind opening pitcher Kyle Hart in Sunday's game against the Giants, Jeff Sanders of The San Diego Union-Tribune reports.

Canning will be available to pitch on three days' rest after he struck out four over three shutout innings of relief in his previous appearance in Wednesday's 3-1 win over the Rockies. Hart tossed 2.2 innings as an opener Wednesday, and while he could work a bit deeper into Sunday's outing, he's still unlikely to reach the five innings he would need to hit to qualify for a win. As a result, Canning -- who claimed his second victory of the season Wednesday -- looks like the Padres pitcher most likely to earn a win Sunday.

The Mets acquired Gill Hill, outfielder Aidan Smith and infielder Emilien Pitre from the Rays on Sunday in exchange for right-hander Freddy Peralta, Mark Feinsand of MLB.com reports.

Peralta is the third big domino to fall in the pitcher market leading up to Monday's deadline after Tarik Skubal and Luis Castillo were moved to the Dodgers and White Sox, respectively, earlier in the weekend. Gill Hill, 21, has had his share of troubles in his first taste of the Double-A level this season with a 4.54 ERA, 1.39 WHIP and 61:14 K:BB across 81.1 innings. He'll likely report to Double-A Binghamton for the Mets.

King is no longer scheduled to start Sunday's game against the Giants and will instead make his next turn through the rotation Monday in Arizona.

San Diego will have Kyle Hart serve as its opening pitcher in a bullpen game during Sunday's series finale. The Padres didn't provide an explanation behind the late change, but the decision to scratch King adds fuel to the notion that he could be moved ahead of Monday's trade deadline. If the right-hander ends up staying put, he'll tentatively line up for a two-start week, with his second outing coming next weekend at home versus the Astros.

The Mets selected Stock's contract from Triple-A Syracuse ahead of his scheduled start Sunday against the Marlins at Citi Field.

Stock will be making his 2026 MLB debut in what will be his first big-league start since the 2021 season. The 36-year-old right-hander has staged an incredible comeback from thoracic outlet syndrome, after he experienced symptoms of the nerve condition back in March while pitching for Team Israel in the World Baseball Classic. He was cleared to resume pitching in minor-league games June 19 and moved into the rotation earlier this month at Syracuse, where he allowed just two earned runs on five hits and two walks while striking out nine in 7.2 innings between two starts. Stock will now make the jump into the rotation at New York, though his opportunity to stick around with the big club in a starting role beyond Sunday will likely depend on whether at least one of Clay Holmes (fibula) and Freddy Peralta is moved ahead of Monday's trade deadline. Expect Stock to have a limited workload Sunday, as he hasn't thrown more than four innings or 66 pitches in any of his minor-league outings.

Strider (elbow) appears unlikely to pitch again in 2026, Mark Bowman of MLB.com reports.

After landing on the shelf June 13 due to right elbow inflammation, Strider met with Dr. Keith Meister and was prescribed a month of rest. He was expected to be re-evaluated over the All-Star break, but Atlanta hasn't provided a formal update on Strider's progress, and his locker got cleaned out during Atlanta's most recent homestand -- a strong sign that the club isn't expecting the right-hander back over the final two months of the regular season or in the playoffs. Strider labored through eight starts prior to going on the injured list, walking 12.8 percent of the batters he faced while pitching to a 5.31 ERA and 1.36 WHIP across 39 innings.

Atlanta recalled Ritchie from Triple-A Gwinnett to start Sunday against the Nationals, Mark Bowman of MLB.com reports.

The 23-year-old rookie will fill the rotation spot of Reynaldo Lopez, who landed on the injured list due to a knee issue. It'll be the eighth start and 14th MLB appearance of the campaign for Ritchie, who has a 4.50 ERA, 1.41 WHIP and 49:33 K:BB across his first 54 big-league innings.

Williamson (shoulder/finger) allowed one earned run on two walks and no walks while striking out three over two innings in a rehab start for Double-A Chattanooga on Saturday. The left-hander also hit a batter.

Williamson, who was placed on the injured list April 30 due to left shoulder fatigue, kicked off a rehab assignment Saturday. After battling some control issues in the first inning, Williamson settled in during the second frame before leaving the contest after tossing 39 pitches. The southpaw will look to build on that workload during his next rehab outing, which is expected to come Thursday with Triple-A Louisville, per Mark Sheldon of MLB.com.

Mahle allowed five runs on five hits and two walks while striking out nine batters over 5.2 innings in a no-decision versus San Diego on Saturday.

On the plus side, Mahle induced 13 whiffs and struck out a season-high nine batters. However, the five earned runs were the most he's allowed across his past eight starts. Mahle didn't give up a ton of traffic, but five of the eight batters who reached against him came around to score. The right-hander pitched pretty well in July with a 2.82 ERA, 1.21 WHIP and 16:6 K:BB over 22.1 innings spanning four starts, so this was a small step back for him. Mahle will look to get back on track the next time he takes the mound, which is projected to be at home against Detroit.
