  • Padres' Randy Vasquez: Roughed up in loss

Vasquez (3-6) took the loss Sunday against the Orioles, allowing six earned runs on four hits and four walks while striking out two batters in two innings.

Vasquez made it through the first two innings without allowing a run, but a disastrous third inning cut his day short. The 25-year-old failed to record an out in the third, yielding four earned runs before exiting the game with two runners on base, both of whom would come around to score. The right-hander struggled with control, walking four batters while throwing just 55 percent of his pitches for strikes. Vasquez had been on a roll before Sunday's outing, pitching to a 1.71 ERA in 26.1 innings over his previous five starts. Vasquez will look to bounce back in his next start, currently scheduled for next weekend versus the Rockies.

  • David Peterson SP | NYM

Mets' David Peterson: Allows four runs in defeat

Peterson (5-1) was saddled with the loss Sunday, allowing four runs on four hits and three walks over five innings against Atlanta. He struck out seven.

Peterson faced just one batter over the minimum through three frames but allowed six of the first seven batters to reach base during a four-run fourth inning that led to Peterson taking his first loss of the season. It's only the second time in 10 starts Peterson has allowed more than two earned runs. He'll carry a 3.52 ERA and 1.47 WHIP into his next start, scheduled to take place in Anaheim against the Angels.

  • Kolby Allard SP | CLE

    Phillies' Kolby Allard: Lackluster debut

Allard came away a the no-decision in Sunday's loss to the Guardians, allowing three earned runs on six hits and zero walks while striking out one in four innings.

Called up to fill Ranger Suarez's (back) rotation spot, Allard underwhelmed in his 2024 debut, inducing just three swinging strikes en route to one strikeout. The southpaw managed to make it through the first three frames unscathed before surrendering a three-run home run to Jhonkensy Noel in the fourth inning. With a career 6.10 ERA and 1.43 WHIP across 245 innings, the 26-year-old Allard won't be a recommended fantasy option moving forward.

  • Alex Cobb SP | DET

Giants' Alex Cobb: Blister pushes back return

Cobb (hip/shoulder) popped a blister on his right index finger during his final rehab start Friday, which will push back his season debut from the two-game series against Oakland on Tuesday and Wednesday, Shayna Rubin of the San Francisco Chronicle reports.

It's yet another delay for the veteran right-hander, who has been on the shelf all season due to hip and shoulder injuries. The blister isn't expected to be a significant hurdle for Cobb, however, and he should still be able to make his season debut during next weekend's series at Cincinnati.

  • Dodgers' Yoshinobu Yamamoto: Bullpen session on tap

Dodgers manager Dave Roberts said Sunday that Yamamoto (triceps) is scheduled to throw a bullpen session Friday, David Vassegh of AM 570 LA Sports reports.

The Japanese right-hander lacks a clear timeline for his return from the triceps injury, but his return to mound work is an encouraging development regardless. Yamamoto won't be ready to be activated from the 60-day injured list when first eligible Aug. 15, but a return in late August or early September remains possible if he can continue to build up his throwing program with no setbacks.

  • Steven Matz SP | TB

Cardinals' Steven Matz: Beginning rehab assignment

Matz (back) will begin a rehab assignment Thursday and is expected to throw about 30 pitches over two innings, Lynn Worthy of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch reports.

The left-hander is hoping to return from the injured list sometime in August, and beginning a rehab assignment at the start of the month should give him a chance to make that happen. Matz has been sidelined since late April and will likely need a least a few rehab starts before rejoining the Cardinals.

  • Reynaldo Lopez RP | ATL

Braves' Reynaldo Lopez: Exits with forearm tightness

Lopez was removed from Sunday's start against the Mets as a precaution due to right forearm tightness.

Lopez threw 57 pitches and struck out two batters over three scoreless innings before being lifted from Sunday's contest due to the injury. The right-hander should be considered day-to-day for now, and his availability for the next turn through the rotation is up in the air, as he's scheduled to undergo an MRI, per Justin Toscano of The Atlanta Journal-Constitution.

  • Hunter Greene SP | CIN

Reds' Hunter Greene: Seven shutout innings

Greene threw seven scoreless innings in Sunday's loss to the Rays, allowing two hits and one walk while striking out five. He did not factor into the decision.

Greene stifled the Rays, carrying a no-hitter into the sixth inning before a Brandon Lowe single ended the bid. The 24-year-old Greene has now fired seven scoreless innings in back-to-back starts, allowing just two hits in each of those outings. The hard-throwing righty also notched his fourth consecutive quality start Sunday, pitching to a 0.33 ERA, 0.63 WHIP and 29:8 K:BB in 27 innings during that stretch. Greene will look to keep rolling in his next start, currently scheduled for next weekend versus the Giants.

  • Kodai Senga SP | NYM

Mets' Kodai Senga: Shifts to 60-day IL

The Mets transferred Senga (calf) to the 60-day injured list Sunday, Tim Healey of Newsday reports.

The 31-year-old was ruled out for the regular season after being diagnosed with a high-grade calf strain Saturday, so the move to the 60-day IL isn't a surprise. A postseason return for Senga has yet to be ruled out, but he'll likely need to avoid any setbacks during his rehab program for that to remain a possibility.

  • Kyle Tyler RP | BAL

Marlins' Kyle Tyler: Receives another start

Tyler is scheduled to start Sunday's game against the Brewers in Milwaukee.

Tyler will be making his second straight turn through the rotation after he struck out five batters and gave up three runs on nine hits and two walks over 4.2 innings in a no-decision against the Orioles last Tuesday following his promotion from Triple-A Jacksonville. Over five outings (four starts) with Miami on the season, Tyler owns a 3.92 ERA, 1.45 WHIP and 15:10 K:BB across 20.2 innings.
