Aaron Nola SP | PHI
Phillies' Aaron Nola: Fans eight for ninth win
Nola (9-2) secured the win after surrendering four runs on seven hits and three walks while striking out eight over 6.2 innings Sunday against the Braves.
Nola cruised through the first six innings, though he ran into trouble in the seventh, giving up a three-run homer followed by a solo blast. Fortunately, his offense came through by putting up nine runs in the contest. The 26-year-old right-hander continues to put together a solid season, as he now owns a 3.72 ERA and 1.30 WHIP with a 153:55 K:BB over 135.1 innings this season.

Alex Wood RP | ATH
Reds' Alex Wood: Takes no-decision in season debut
Wood allowed two runs on seven hits with one walk and four strikeouts across 4.2 innings during a no-decision against the Rockies on Sunday.
The 28-year-old needed one more out to complete the minimum required for a win, but the game was tied anyway, so that didn't matter. All in all, it was a good season debut for Wood, who missed the first four months in back issues. He posted 51 of his 80 pitches for strikes, and despite seven hits, the only runs he allowed came from a homer. Wood will look to build off this outing in his second start Friday at the Braves.

Corbin Burnes SP | ARI
Brewers' Corbin Burnes: Begins rehab stint
Burnes (shoulder) fired a scoreless inning during his first rehab appearance Saturday with Triple-A San Antonio, Tom Haudricourt of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reports.
Burnes landed on the injured list with right shoulder irritation July 15, so he may not require an extended rehab assignment. The 24-year-old is scheduled to throw two frames in his next outing with the Missions before being re-evaluated. The Brewers plan to continue utilizing Burnes out of the bullpen despite the recent injuries to their starting rotation.

Michael Wacha SP | KC
Cardinals' Michael Wacha: Solid in long relief
Wacha allowed an earned run on six hits while recording five strikeouts across 4.2 innings in a loss to the Astros on Saturday. He did not factor into the decision.
Wacha consumed some valuable innings for manager Mike Shildt after Daniel Ponce de Leon was unable to get out of the third. It was Wacha's third consecutive impressive multi-inning relief effort, as he'd allowed just one earned run over a combined 4.2 frames in his previous two trips to the mound. The 28-year-old right-hander may find himself in the bullpen for the remainder of the season unless injuries or performance issues in the starting rotation warrant him getting another opportunity to open games.

Alex Wood RP | ATH
Reds' Alex Wood: Activated for season debut
Wood was activated off the 60-day injured list to start Sunday's game against the Rockies.
Wood has been on the shelf all season with back issues, but he's primed for his debut with the Reds after being acquired from the Dodgers in December. The 28-year-old threw 85 pitches in his final rehab outing with Double-A Chattanooga, indicating he won't have an overly restrictive pitch count Sunday. Wood posted a 3.68 ERA, 1.21 WHIP and 135:40 K:BB in 27 starts for Los Angeles in 2018.

Cal Quantrill RP | TEX
Padres' Cal Quantrill: Nabs fourth win
Quantrill (4-2) picked up the win Saturday, giving up one run on three hits and four walks over 5.1 innings while striking out four in a 5-1 victory over the Giants.
The right-hander wasn't sharp, throwing 50 of 86 pitches for strikes and firing first-pitch strikes to only 12 of the 23 batters he faced, but Quantrill didn't give up much hard contact and his lack of control didn't come back to hurt him. He'll carry a 3.57 ERA and 49:18 K:BB through 58 innings into his next outing Saturday, on the road against the Dodgers.

Chase Anderson RP | TEX
Brewers' Chase Anderson: Pitches well in no-decision
Anderson allowed two runs on four hits with one walk and four strikeouts across five innings during a no-decision against the Cubs on Saturday.
The 31-year-old yielded only a two-run homer to Anthony Rizzo in the third inning. Since seeing his ERA balloon to 4.70 toward the end of June, Anderson has pitched really well, yielding two or fewer runs in seven straight starts. Overall, he is 5-2 with a 3.89 ERA, 1.23 WHIP and 85 strikeouts in 88 innings this season. Anderson will likely face the Cubs again Friday on the road.

Trevor Williams RP | TEX
Pirates' Trevor Williams: Takes tough loss
Williams (3-4) allowed three runs on four hits with two walks and seven strikeouts across seven innings while taking a loss against the Mets on Saturday.
While Williams did allow two homers, he ultimately didn't receive enough support to win this pitching duel. The Pirates didn't score a run, and Jung Ho Kang couldn't catch an easy popup one batter before J.D. Davis hit a homer, tagging Williams with an extra run (it was counted as earned). Still, the growing home run problem is a concern for Williams, as he's yielded 11 homers in six starts since returning from the injured list June 19. Williams, who owns a 4.87 ERA, 1.32 WHIP and 75 strikeouts in 88.2 innings this season, will look to make the proper corrections against the Mets again Friday, this time at home.

Steven Matz RP | TB
Mets' Steven Matz: Throws complete-game shutout
Matz (6-6) allowed five hits with no walks and seven strikeouts in a complete-game shutout against the Pirates on Saturday.
This was definitely Matz's best outing of the season. Other than relief appearances, he only had one outing this year where he allowed zero runs before Saturday, but Matz does possess a 1.80 ERA in his last five appearances. Overall, he owns a 4.32 ERA, 1.38 WHIP and 93 strikeouts in 100 innings this season. Matz will look to keep his scoreless innings streak going against the Pirates again during his next start Friday.
