The Orioles transferred Wells (elbow) from the 15-day injured list to the 60-day IL on Wednesday.

The move frees up a 40-man roster spot for Nick Maton, who had his contract selected from Triple-A Norfolk on Wednesday. Wells is out for the season after undergoing an internal brace procedure on his right elbow this week.

Cortes (4-5) picked up the win in Tuesday's 4-2 victory over the Orioles, allowing five hits over six scoreless innings. He struck out six without walking a batter.

The crafty lefty was at his baffling best, and the only runner Baltimore got past second base against Cortes came on an Austin Wells passed ball in the sixth inning. Cortes threw a season-high 105 pitches (64 strikes) in the outing, his first time in triple digits since April 20, while the quality start was his second straight and seventh of the campaign. He'll take a 3.36 ERA, 1.10 WHIP and 86:18 K:BB through 93.2 innings into his next start, which lines up to come at home this weekend against Atlanta.

Suarez (3-1) took the loss Tuesday, giving up three runs on six hits and five walks over 3.2 innings as the Orioles were downed 4-2 by the Yankees. He struck out three.

The 34-year-old right-hander also hit Aaron Judge with a pitch in his worst performance of the season, as Suarez tossed only 49 of 96 pitches for strikes. His control has been slipping since he returned to the rotation in late May -- over his last five starts, Suarez has a 19:13 K:BB in 23 innings despite a superficially strong 2.35 ERA. With Dean Kremer (triceps) closing in on a return and Cade Povich coming off an impressive outing against Atlanta, Suarez could wind up getting bumped to the bullpen once again. He should get at least one more turn in the rotation, however, a road start this weekend in Houston.

Civale didn't factor into the decision Tuesday against Minnesota, allowing four runs on seven hits and two walks across 3.2 innings. He struck out five.

While Civale kept the Twins scoreless through three innings, he unraveled in the fourth. The 29-year-old surrendered a single, a walk and a pair of doubles to consecutive batters, all with two outs, before being replaced by Kevin Kelly. Tuesday's start marked Civale's first time failing to complete four innings this season, and he hasn't added a tally to the win column since April 9. In 76.1 innings of work, Civale owns a 5.42 ERA and a 1.39 WHIP with 79 strikeouts. He's tentatively scheduled for a road start against the Pirates to end his two-start week.

Lopez didn't factor into the decision Tuesday against Tampa Bay, allowing five runs on seven hits and a walk across four innings. He struck out three.

Four of the five runs attributed to Lopez came via the long ball, with Randy Arozarena launching a three-run homer in the first inning and Brandon Lowe notching a solo home run in the fifth, marking Lopez's seventh consecutive start allowing a round-tripper. The 28-year-old has allowed five or more runs in four of his last six appearances, owning an 8.94 ERA during that stretch and ballooning his ERA to a career-worst 5.63 overall. He's lined up for a road start against the Athletics on Sunday.

Mize (1-5) took the loss Tuesday against Atlanta, allowing two runs on five hits and no walks with three strikeouts across four innings.

Both of the runs charged to Mize came in the first inning, when he yielded three consecutive hits -- including a triple by Ozzie Albies -- to open up the game. While Mize hasn't found the win column since April 21, Tuesday's start added on to what's been a solid stretch for the 27-year-old. He's surrendered three or fewer earned runs in seven of his last eight appearances and owns a 4.43 ERA with a 46:19 K:BB on the year.

Bassitt didn't factor into the decision Tuesday against Boston, allowing two runs on seven hits and two walks across six innings. He struck out six.

Bassitt allowed fewer than four runs for a ninth consecutive start, stranding five Red Sox across six innings. The 35-year-old surrendered at least seven hits for the fourth time this season but wound up generating his seventh quality start of the campaign. Through 64.1 innings, Bassitt owns a 3.52 ERA and an 81:34 K:BB. He's tentatively scheduled for a rematch with the Red Sox in Boston early next week.

Houck didn't factor into the decision Tuesday against Toronto, allowing three runs (two earned) on six hits and two walks across 5.2 innings. He struck out five.

Houck ended up one out shy of a sixth consecutive quality start, getting pulled at 103 pitches after yielding an RBI single to Isiah Kiner-Falefa. Houck has struck out five or more batters in seven straight starts and owns a 4-2 record with a 2.17 ERA across 45.2 innings during that stretch. He's scheduled to close out a two-start week Sunday at Cincinnati.

Canning (2-8) allowed six runs (five earned) on eight hits and two walks while striking out four over five-plus innings to take the loss versus the Brewers on Tuesday.

Canning hadn't given up more than four earned runs in any of his last 11 outings, but the Brewers got to him early and often in this contest. He's now lost four straight starts, and he's gone six outings without a win. The right-hander is at a 5.02 ERA, 1.38 WHIP and 54:29 K:BB through 80.2 innings over 15 starts this season. Canning is projected to make his next start at home versus the Athletics.

Marsh (5-4) allowed seven runs on seven hits and two walks while striking out four over three innings to take the loss Tuesday versus the Athletics.

After looking to have righted the ship with seven one-hit innings versus the Yankees in his last start, Marsh took another step back. He's given up at least four runs in four of his last five starts, and this one was his shortest outing of the campaign. The right-hander's ERA shot up to 4.37 with a 1.17 WHIP and 65:21 K:BB over 70 innings across 13 starts. Marsh is projected for a road outing versus the Rangers this weekend, but his recently volatility makes him a risky option in fantasy.
