Yu Darvish SP | SD
Rangers' Yu Darvish: Receives no decision in excellent outing Sunday
Darvish (2-3) allowed no runs on five hits while striking out eight over seven innings, but received no decision Sunday at the Astros.
Darivsh left the contest with 3-0 lead, but the bullpen couldn't hold on, wasting his stellar effort. He's yet to allow more than three runs in any game since his return from the disabled list on May 28, and he owns a 2.78 ERA to go along with a 1.06 WHIP on the campaign. He's kept his ERA at or below 3.06 in each of the last three seasons, and he'll be heavily targeted in 2017 fantasy drafts. He'll make his next start Friday against the Tigers.

James Paxton SP | BOS
Mariners' James Paxton: Exits after taking ball off pitching arm
Paxton immediately exited Sunday's game after taking a ball off of his left arm in the ninth inning, Shannon Drayer of KIRO AM reports.
Paxton pitched extremely well into the ninth inning of the contest, allowing one run (none earned) on five hits and a walk while adding six strikeouts before leaving. The team is hoping for a bone bruise, but Paxton has been sent for X-rays. The team should update his status again when the results are read.

Marcus Stroman SP | NYY
Blue Jays' Marcus Stroman: Fails to post quality start Sunday
Stroman (8-5) allowed three runs on seven hits and two walks while striking out four over five innings to take the loss Sunday at the Royals.
Stroman had no offensive support, and he left the contest with a 3-0 deficit, which led to his fifth loss of 2016. This was the first loss he suffered since June 26, and he now has a 4.76 ERA to go along with a 1.31 WHIP. Both his ERA and WHIP are significantly higher than they were in either of his first two seasons in the majors. He'll make his next start Sunday against the Astros.

Sonny Gray SP | BOS
Athletics' Sonny Gray: Heads back to DL
Gray (forearm) was placed on the 15-day DL on Sunday.
Gray's disastrous season took yet another turn for the worse in Saturday's start against the Cubs, during which the right-hander gave up two runs over five innings before departing after 72 pitches with right extensor muscle soreness. It's not clear if the Athletics conducted an MRI that determined Gray was dealing with anything more severe than soreness, but given the team's low place in the standings, they won't take any chances with their presumptive ace. The A's purchased the contract of Chris Smith from Triple-A Nashville to fill out their pitching ranks while Gray is sidelined.

Jose Berrios SP | TOR
Twins' Jose Berrios: Touched up by Rays in Saturday loss
Berrios (2-2) gave up four earned runs on six hits and a walk over five-plus innings in Saturday's 7-3 loss to the Rays. He struck out four.
The long ball helped put him in an early hole, as both Evan Longoria and Bobby Wilson took him deep for solo shots in the third and fifth innings, respectively. The homers were preceded by an RBI single from the red-hot Brad Miller to open the scoring in the first. The 22-year-old's return to the majors against the Indians last Monday, in which he scored his second victory of the season, was a more successful outing overall, and Berrios will try to replicate that effort when he takes on the Astros next Thursday.

Corey Kluber SP | BOS
Indians' Corey Kluber: Stymies Yankees over eight innings Saturday
Kluber (11-8) gave up two earned runs on five hits and a walk over eight innings in Saturday's 5-2 victory over the Yankees. He struck out eight.
The veteran right-hander settled down after faltering early, turning in a typically efficient performance on the way to his 11th victory. Kluber was efficient following a second inning in which he gave up an RBI double to Gary Sanchez and then allowed the Yankees backstop to score on a wild pitch. He threw 67 of 100 pitches for strikes and missed plenty of bats, notching 15 swings and misses. The 30-year-old has now rattled off three straight wins, giving up only five earned runs over the 22 innings encompassing those appearances. Kluber will look to make it four in a row when he faces the Angels next Friday.

Taijuan Walker SP | LAA
Mariners' Taijuan Walker: Blown up for six runs in return from DL
Walker (foot) was tagged for six runs on seven hits and two walks over four innings in a no-decision Saturday against the Angels.
Walker returned from a month-long stint on the DL, but the right-hander labored through four innings before manager Scott Servais turned the game over to the bullpen. Walker's fastball command was nowhere to be found, and he was hit hard, giving up two doubles, a triple and a home run. Fortunately, his injured foot, which likely will need offseason surgery, did not present any problems. Walker's next scheduled start is Friday against the Athletics.

Eduardo Rodriguez SP | ARI
Red Sox's Eduardo Rodriguez: Lacks command in Saturday's loss
Rodriguez allowed three runs on eight hits and one walk while striking out five over 4.1 innings in Saturday's loss to the Dodgers. The left-hander needed 88 pitches to get 13 outs and had multiple baserunners in three of his innings.
Rodriguez's biggest faux-pas was leaving a pitch up in the zone to A.J. Ellis with two runners on and the pitcher due up next. Ellis delivered a single to plate the Dodgers first run. He just didn't have the command he had in his previous start against Seattle. The left-hander is next scheduled to pitch Friday (Aug. 12) at home against the Diamondbacks.

Carlos Rodon SP | NYY
White Sox's Carlos Rodon: Throws strong start against Orioles on Sunday
Rodon held the Orioles to two runs (one earned) on five hits and two walks over six innings Saturday, but he did not factor into the decision. He struck out seven.
This was one of Rodon's better starts of the season in terms of results, and it was also his hardest start of the year in terms of velocity (his fastball averaged over 95 mph, and he frequently neared 100). However, the White Sox were unable to break the tie until after he exited, so Rodon remains stuck on two wins on the year.

Matthew Boyd SP | CHC
Tigers' Matt Boyd: Captures third victory versus Mets on Saturday
Boyd (3-2) allowed three runs on six hits, struck out five and walked three over five innings in a victory over the Mets on Saturday.
The lefty tossed up two bombs for the second straight outing, but they were of the solo variety, and the Tigers offense spotted Boyd six runs. The 25-year-old was also uncharacteristically wild, walking three batters for the first time in nearly two months, but none of them came around to score. Boyd is now 3-2 with a 4.77 ERA, 1.32 WHIP and 49 strikeouts in 54.2 innings.
