Wade Miley SP | CIN
Orioles' Wade Miley: Goes seven strong in win Thursday
Miley (6-9) delivered seven innings of one-run ball to notch his sixth win of the season Thursday against the A's. He surrendered three hits and three walks while fanning seven batters.
The lone run Miley surrendered was unearned as he dropped his season ERA to 5.19. He was able to limit base runners, something he has struggled to do for much of the season. Miley's outing Thursday was his longest start since he went 7.0 innings June 1 against Boston. He's lined up to make his next start Tuesday against his former team, the Seattle Mariners.

Carlos Rodon SP | NYY
White Sox's Carlos Rodon: Fires eight strong innings Thursday
Rodon held the Astros to two runs on nine hits while striking out four without a walk over eight innings in Thursday's no-decision.
While Rodon certainly didn't deserve to lose this one, that was almost the result until teammate Yoan Moncada extended the contest with a ninth-inning homer. The talented lefty came in with an inflated 4.66 BB/9 and 11.87 K/9 in 38.2 innings, but was much more effective here thanks to a willingness to challenge hitters rather than attempting to end every at-bat with a strikeout. Rodon threw 70 of his 98 pitches for strikes, allowing himself to work deep into the game for the second consecutive outing after failing to pitch a full seven innings in any of his first six starts. He has clearly turned a corner over the past two appearances, though things don't get any easier with a Wednesday road tilt against the fearsome Dodgers next on the schedule.

Blake Snell SP | LAD
Rays' Blake Snell: Pitches well in no-decision
Snell allowed a single run on four hits and two walks while striking out four batters through 6.1 innings during Thursday's win over Cleveland. He didn't factor into the decision.
Snell was recalled from the minors for this start after Alex Cobb (toe) was placed on the disabled list, and there hasn't been a clear indication whether the 24-year-old lefty will remain in the majors or return to Triple-A Durham. Even with Thursday's solid showing, Snell is a difficult hurler to trust outside of cavernous settings. He has struggled to pitch deep into games and sports an underwhelming 4.69 ERA and 1.53 WHIP for the year.

James Paxton SP | BOS
Mariners' James Paxton: Diagnosed with left pectoral strain
Paxton exited Thursday's start with a left pectoral strain.
The lefty was pulled from Thursday's outing after grabbing at his upper chest area, which caused the Mariners' training staff to come out for a mound visit. Pectoral muscles are responsible for assisting with movements of the shoulder blade, so this could result in a DL stint. Paxton's status should come into focus in the coming days as he goes through more tests and is further evaluated.

Sonny Gray SP | BOS
Yankees' Sonny Gray: Still chasing first Yankees win
Gray (6-7) allowed three runs -- two earned -- on four hits and four walks while striking out six batters through six innings during Thursday's loss to Toronto.
Gray wasn't his sharpest Thursday, but the Yankees have also scored just a single run through his first two starts with the club. He has now allowed two earned runs or fewer in each of his past eight outings, and his 3.39 ERA, 1.18 WHIP and 8.8 K/9 are rock-solid marks. The move from a basement-dwelling team to a contender still stands to help Gray down the fantasy stretch, and he projects to face the Mets at Yankee Stadium in his next start.

James Paxton SP | BOS
Mariners' James Paxton: Exits with apparent injury Thursday
Paxton was removed from Thursday's outing against the Angels with an apparent injury and left the field with the Mariners' training staff, Shannon Drayer of MyNorthwest.com reports.
This is potentially another blow to the Mariners' pitching depth just days after ace Felix Hernandez went down with a shoulder injury. According to MLB.com's Greg Johns, Paxton grabbed at his upper left pectoral/shoulder area after a pitch in the seventh inning, which prompted the training staff to pay him a mound visit. Paxton had fanned six batters of 6.1 innings of three-run ball prior to his exit. More updates on Paxton's status should be made available once the Mariners release further information.

Jason Hammel SP | TEX
Royals' Jason Hammel: Fans seven in no-decision
Hammel allowed two runs on three hits and a walk while striking out seven batters through five innings during Thursday's loss to St. Louis. He didn't factor into the decision.
The veteran had allowed three runs or fewer in 11 of his past 12 starts and posted a 3.74 ERA and 1.15 WHIP during that stretch, so it was more of the same from Hammel on Thursday. His 7.1 K/9 for the campaign isn't a standout mark, but in the majority of fantasy settings, Hammel is providing serviceable numbers. He lines up to face the Athletics at Oakland Coliseum in his next start.

Jake Odorizzi SP | TB
Rays' Jake Odorizzi: Expects to make next start
Odorizzi (foot) said he felt "really good" Thursday and doesn't expect to miss his next turn in the rotation, Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times reports.
This is encouraging news, as it initially looked like Odorizzi might be sidelined for a good chunk of time after taking a liner off his ankle Wednesday night. He's scheduled to throw a bullpen session Friday to test out his ankle, and barring any setbacks, it looks like he should be ready to make his next scheduled start against the Blue Jays on Monday.

Mike Clevinger RP | PIT
Indians' Mike Clevinger: Set to return to rotation
Clevinger is listed as the probable starter for Saturday's game against the Rays.
Following a brief demotion to the bullpen, Clevinger is set to return to a starting role opposite Rays ace Chris Archer. Clevinger struggled in a relief appearance last Sunday, giving up three runs on two hits (including a homer) and a walk in one inning of work, bringing his second-half ERA to 8.16 over 14.1 innings. He's issued nine walks and served up three homers since the break, and those issues dim the appeal of Clevinger's strikeout upside.

Justin Verlander SP | DET
Tigers' Justin Verlander: Flirts with no-no in dominant outing
Verlander (8-7) was masterful in Wednesday's win over the Pirates, allowing just one hit while walking three and striking out six over eight shutout innings.
Verlander had a no-hitter going until there were two outs in the sixth, but a Josh Bell double ended his bid. Manager Brad Ausmus elected not to give Verlander a chance at the complete game shutout, pulling him after eight innings and 113 pitches with the team up 10-0. Still, the 34-year-old righty seems to have found the fountain of youth judging by his last three starts. Over that stretch, Verlander's 3-0 with a 0.86 ERA and 22:6 K:BB in 21 innings. He'll need to be at the top of his game once again to find success in his next start Monday in Texas.
