  • Mike Clevinger RP | PIT

Indians' Mike Clevinger: Solid in no-decision against Yankees

Clevinger struck out 10 and walked four over 7.1 innings, giving up just one hit and two earned runs as the Indians fell 7-4 to the Yankees on Sunday.

The right-hander continued his strong start to the season with his first double-digit strikeout effort of the year against a tough Yankees lineup, but he didn't factor into the decision as Cody Allen and Dan Otero combined to give up five earned runs in relief. Still, Clevinger has a 2.76 ERA, a 1.07 WHIP and 39 strikeouts across 45.2 innings, so it looks like he's building off his solid showing last season when he had a 3.11 ERA in 121.2 innings. He'll take the mound next at home against the Royals next Sunday.

  • Domingo German SP | PIT

Yankees' Domingo German: Throws six no-hit innings in first start

German didn't factor into the decision against the Indians on Sunday despite throwing six no-hit innings, striking out nine and walking two before the Yankees eventually prevailed 7-4.

With Jordan Montgomery (elbow) on the disabled list, German got the first crack at filling the rotation spot and he made the most of the opportunity, no-hitting the Twins through six innings on just 84 pitches. His relievers weren't able to see through the combined no-hit bid, but it was still a brilliant outing from the 25-year-old, who was making his first career start after working out of the bullpen prior to Montgomery's injury. While he won't be holding opponents hitless every start, German almost certainly earned another look to show he can continue to be the guy in Montgomery's absence. It's worth keeping an eye on whether he can continue to provide solid fantasy value for as long as he's in the rotation.

  • Marco Gonzales RP | TEX

Mariners' Marco Gonzales: Strikes out seven

Gonzales allowed four earned runs on nine hits while walking one and striking out seven across six innings Saturday against the Angels. He did not factor into the decision.

Gonzales danced in and out of trouble for much of the game but managed to avoid any big blows for much of his start. That changed in the sixth inning, when he allowed the first two batters of the inning to reach base and was ultimately taken deep by Jefry Marte for a three-run home run. Even so, Gonzales has been trending in a positive direction, now having completed six innings of work in each of his past three starts after failing to do so in three of his first four starts this season. He continues to allow a lot of hits -- reflected by his 1.44 WHIP -- but has a .400 BABIP against that explains some of his struggles.

  • Lance Lynn SP | STL

Twins' Lance Lynn: Picks up first win of season

Lynn (1-3) picked up the win Saturday against the White Sox, allowing two runs on eight hits across six innings while striking out seven.

It took six tries, but Lynn was finally able to secure his first win in a Twins uniform, also tossing his first quality start of the season. After struggling mightily with control over his first five starts -- issuing 23 walks in 23.2 innings -- Lynn was dialed in Saturday, tossing 71 of his 97 pitches for strikes while issuing no free passes, marking the first time all season he didn't issue at least three walks in a start. He's still working with an unsightly 7.28 ERA and 1.96 WHIP, but Saturday was a step in the right direction. He'll look to build off this effort in his next start, which should come on the road against the Angels.

  • Kevin Gausman SP | CHC

Orioles' Kevin Gausman: Not rewarded for nine-inning effort

Gausman allowed only two hits while walking two and striking out six across nine scoreless innings Saturday against the Athletics but did not factor into the decision.

Gausman had his stuff working Saturday, as he allowed only four baserunners in nine innings despite only 66 of his 113 pitches going for strikes. He also started just 13 of the 31 batters he faced with a strike, but it didn't come back to haunt him in this outing either via walks or hard contact. Since getting smacked around for six earned runs in his season debut, Gausman has not allowed more than three earned runs in any of his next six starts and now owns a nice 3.30 ERA and a 1.15 WHIP through 43.2 innings.

  • Jason Hammel SP | TEX

Royals' Jason Hammel: Takes loss despite quality start

Hammel (0-4) struck out five but took the loss against the Tigers on Saturday, giving up three runs on 10 hits and a walk over 6.2 innings.

Hammel threw 71 of 100 pitches for strikes in recording his fourth quality start in seven outings this season, but the Royals' anemic offense has kept him out of the win column. He'll take a 4.78 ERA into his next start Friday in Cleveland.

  • Charlie Morton SP | ATL

Astros' Charlie Morton: Struggles to throw strikes

Morton allowed three earned runs on three hits while walking four and striking out three across five innings Saturday against the Diamondbacks. He did not factor into the decision.

Morton got off to a wild start Saturday, walking four of the first six batters he faced, but he escaped the inning having allowed only one earned run. He then settled in until the fifth inning, when he gave up a double to pitcher Zack Greinke, who was driven in by the next batter. This was one of Morton's worst starts of the season, which speaks to how well he has pitched through his first seven outings. He'll look to bounce back in his next opportunity, which should come against the Rangers.

  • Nathan Eovaldi SP | TEX

Rays' Nathan Eovaldi: Throws 17 pitches in first rehab outing

Eovaldi (elbow) fired 17 pitches -- 13 for strikes -- in his first rehab outing with High-A Charlotte on Friday night, allowing a run on two hits over one inning against Bradenton.

It was a solid first step for Eovaldi, who got his work in without any apparent setbacks. Manager Kevin Cash was clear about what he envisions as the next steps for the hard-throwing veteran, Bill Chastain of MLB.com reports. "He'll get on a five-man rotation," Cash said. "He'll throw a bullpen. And then the next time a two [innings] and 35 [pitches] session, whatever comes first."

  • Cole Hamels SP | SD

Rangers' Cole Hamels: Pitches six strong innings

Hamels allowed three runs (two earned) on five hits while walking two and striking out five across six innings Saturday against the Red Sox. He did not factor into the decision.

Hamels was impressive against one of the more dangerous lineups in the league, with the only big blow coming from a two-run homer by Mitch Moreland in the fifth inning. His velocity remained steady from his previous start, and he was also deceptive, generating 14 swinging strikes. He has experienced a surprising strikeout resurgence this season, posting a 52:18 K:BB over 45.1 innings.

  • Red Sox's Eduardo Rodriguez: Allows three home runs

Rodriguez allowed five earned runs on four hits while walking two and striking out 10 across six innings Saturday against the Rangers. He did not factor into the decision.

Rodriguez was burned by the long ball, giving up two home runs to Joey Gallo and a three-run homer to Delino DeShields. Home runs hadn't been an issue for him entering Saturday's start, so this may be just an isolated problem for one start that came in a relatively home-run-friendly park. His 10 strikeouts shouldn't be completely overshadowed by his otherwise poor start, as he continues to miss plenty of bats and now has 39 strikeouts through 32.1 innings this season.
