  • Domingo German SP | PIT

Yankees' Domingo German: Secures fourth straight win

German (7-1) allowed three runs on five hits and two walks while striking out five over five innings Friday in a win over the Rays.

German gave up three runs in the fifth inning on a pair of home runs, but the Yankees were able to respond with two runs of their own in the sixth to take a 4-3 lead. The 26-year-old right-hander continues to put together a solid 2019 campaign, and he now owns a 2.70 ERA and 0.95 WHIP with 44 punchouts across 43.1 innings.

  • Andrew Heaney RP | LAD

Angels' Andrew Heaney: Tosses three strong innings

Heaney (elbow) threw 44 pitches across three innings without issue in an extended spring training game Friday, Jeff Fletcher of The Orange County Register reports.

This is excellent news for Heaney, who continues to progress at a nice pace. He's been battling an elbow injury since the beginning of March but will aim to put together back-to-back sessions without issue in the near the future. The team has yet to release details on when his next outing will take place.

  • Tyler Glasnow SP | LAD

Rays' Tyler Glasnow: Leaves with forearm tightness

Glasnow departed Friday's game against the Yankees due to right forearm tightness, Erik Boland of Newsday reports.

This isn't a good sign for the right-hander, who exited the ballgame with one out in the sixth inning. He's set to undergo further evaluation Saturday.

  • Tyler Glasnow SP | LAD

Rays' Tyler Glasnow: Departs with injury

Glasnow left the field with the team trainer after suffering an undisclosed injury during Friday's start against the Yankees, Kristie Ackert of the NY Daily News reports. He left in line for the victory after allowing two runs (one earned) on five hits and two walks while striking out nine over 5.1 innings.

It's unclear as to what kind of injury Glasnow suffered, but he motioned to his team's dugout to be taken out of the contest during the sixth inning, which isn't a good sign.

  • James Paxton SP | BOS

Yankees' James Paxton: Playing catch Friday

Paxton (knee) will resume playing catch Friday, Lindsey Adler of The Athletic reports.

Paxton has been shut down from throwing since landing on the injured list and receiving a cortisone injection last Saturday. The 30-year-old is dealing with left knee inflammation and said he currently isn't experiencing any soreness. General manager Brian Cashman previously indicated Paxton would spend a maximum of three weeks on the IL, and his relatively quick return to throwing should keep him on track for that timetable, assuming he avoids a setback.

  • Yankees' Jordan Montgomery: Throws bullpen session

Montgomery (elbow) threw a 30-pitch bullpen session Friday, Brendan Kuty of The Newark Star-Ledger reports.

Montgomery is gradually working his way back from Tommy John surgery. He's been limited to fastballs thus far but expects to begin throwing his breaking pitches next week. He's aiming to return in August.

  • Drew Smyly SP | CHC

Rangers' Drew Smyly: May not start Saturday

Smyly, the projected starter Saturday against the Astros, may be used as the primary pitcher after an opener begins the game, Evan Grant of the Dallas Morning News reports.

Manager Chris Woodward is considering having Kyle Dowdy or Ariel Jurado, both right-handers, serve as the opener against Houston's right handed-heavy lineup, and then bring the left-handed Smyly into the game. Jurado was a starter in the minors but hasn't thrown more than two innings since April 21. Dowdy has pitched multiple relief innings and lasted three innings in a start for the Rangers but is not stretched out. Neither is expected to go five innings, so Smyly could be in line for a decision.

  • Wade Miley SP | CIN

Astros' Wade Miley: Picks up third win

Miley (3-2) picked up the win against the Rangers on Thursday, giving up two earned runs on two hits over six innings, striking out seven and walking two as the Astros won 4-2.

The left-hander was able to hurl a quality start and pick up his third win of the season while tying a season high with seven strikeouts. The 32-year-old hasn't posted lofty strikeout totals, with 30 in 45.1 innings, but he's provided solid ratios so far with a 3.18 ERA and a 1.10 WHIP. He lines up to take the hill next on the road against the Tigers on Tuesday.

  • Chris Bassitt SP | BAL

Athletics' Chris Bassitt: Strong showing in loss

Bassitt (1-1) allowed three earned runs on seven hits and a walk while striking out nine and walking one across 7.2 innings to take the loss Thursday against the Reds.

Bassitt allowed two home runs early -- one each in the first and third inning -- but held the Reds to just two hits across his last 4.2 frames. He wasn't particularly dominant -- he generated only 10 swinging strikes -- but kept the ball on the ground and required only 93 pitches to record his 23 outs. Bassitt continues to pitch well, racking up a 0.97 WHIP and 2.55 ERA across his first four starts of the season. He'll look to keep that going in his next outing, likely to come Thursday at Detroit.

  • Indians' Carlos Carrasco: Yields no runs in five frames

Carrasco (3-3) allowed no runs on two hits with no walks and six strikeouts across five innings to earn a rain-shortened complete-game victory against the White Sox on Thursday.

The veteran was cruising to a victory anyway, but Carrasco made it through five frames just fast enough for the game to become official before the rain arrived. After a couple rough outings that elevated his ERA close to 6.00, Carrasco probably could've used more scoreless innings under his belt, but the 32-year-old has still thrown three shutout appearances in his last five starts. He is 3-3 with a 4.91 ERA, 1.21 WHIP and 56 strikeouts in 40.1 innings this season. He will have a chance to extend his scoreless innings streak against the White Sox in his next start against them Tuesday.
