  • Carlos Rodon SP | NYY

White Sox's Carlos Rodon: Surgery decision coming next week

Rodon is expected to decide on a treatment method for his left elbow injury at some point next week, Daryl Van Schouwen of the Chicago Sun-Times reports.

After meeting with a doctor last week shortly after he was diagnosed with an edema in the flexor mass of his left elbow, Rodon was recommended to undergo Tommy John surgery to address the matter. The southpaw is set to receive a second opinion in the next few days, after which he should have a better idea of whether surgery and the long rehab that comes with it is the best course of action. A reconstructive procedure would spell an end to Rodon's 2019 campaign and keep him sidelined for the majority of 2020, too.

  • Dean Kremer SP | MIN

Orioles' Dean Kremer: Makes 2019 debut

Kremer (oblique) fired 3.2 scoreless innings for High-A Frederick in his 2019 season debut Thursday, allowing four hits and two walks while striking out five.

Kremer spent the first month of the season rehabbing an oblique injury at extended spring training, but he's finally ready for game action. Once the right-hander is deemed ready, he'll likely report to Double-A Bowie or Triple-A Norfolk.

  • Nathan Eovaldi SP | TEX

Red Sox's Nathan Eovaldi: Has stitches removed

Eovaldi had stitches removed from his elbow Wednesday, Michael Silverman of the Boston Herald reports.

Eovaldi is still weeks away from rejoining the Red Sox, who have not yet divulged a definitive plan for when he will start throwing.

  • Yonny Chirinos SP | MIA

Rays' Yonny Chirinos: Likely bulk reliever Saturday

Chirinos is likely to serve as a bulk reliever following a yet-to-be-named opener in Saturday's game against the Yankees, Juan Toribio of MLB.com reports.

Chirinos has done a solid job in the long-relief role on bullpen days this season, and he owns a 4-1 record, 3.52 ERA and impressive 0.89 WHIP across seven total appearances. The right-hander even performed admirably in his one defeat, limiting the Orioles to three runs across 7.1 innings his most recent time out last Saturday.

  • Tyler Glasnow SP | LAD

Rays' Tyler Glasnow: Opening series against Yankees

Glasnow will start Friday's game against the Yankees, Juan Toribio of MLB.com reports.

The towering right-hander will kick off the three-game set at Tropicana Field, where he owns a 2-0 record and 2.60 ERA over three starts. Glasnow will take the hill on six days of rest in what will be the first matchup between the division rivals this season.

  • Shane Bieber SP | TOR

Indians' Shane Bieber: Takes another no-decision

Bieber gave up three runs on eight hits and one walk over 6.1 innings during Wednesday's 5-3 win over the White Sox. He struck out six but did not factor in the decision.

Bieber entered the seventh inning with a 3-1 lead but was unable to maintain it as the White Sox tied the game 3-3 via three singles and a sacrifice bunt. The 23-year-old has now delivered a quality start in six of his last seven outings. Bieber will carry a 3.32 ERA, 1.08 WHIP and 48:13 K:BB into his next start Monday against the White Sox.

  • Chris Sale SP | ATL

Red Sox's Chris Sale: Dominant start

Sale allowed one earned run on three hits and no walks while striking out 14 across eight innings Wednesday against the Orioles. He did not factor into the decision.

Sale was dominant in a positive matchup, generating 24 swinging strikes on 108 total pitches. His average fastball velocity was 93.8 mph -- still nearly two ticks below last season -- but he maxed out at nearly 97 mph. That's a positive sign, as is Sale's recent form as he's allowed just five earned runs across his last five starts -- spanning 26 innings -- while also whiffing 42 batters. He'll draw a tougher matchup his next time out, facing the Rockies in Boston on Tuesday.

  • Yusei Kikuchi SP | LAA

Mariners' Yusei Kikuchi: Earns second win

Kikuchi (2-1) allowed one earned run on three hits and one walk while striking out three across 7.2 innings to earn the win Wednesday against the Yankees.

Kikuchi held the Yankees' offense in check, surrendering his only earned run on a sacrifice fly in the sixth inning. While the outing wasn't particularly dominant -- he had only three strikeouts and eight swinging strikes -- he held the opposition to just one extra-base hit and continued to exhibit good control. After struggling a bit early on, Kikuchi has chewed up 14.2 innings across his last two starts, allowing just two earned runs while whiffing 13 batters in the process. He'll look to keep things going in his next start, likely to come Monday against the Athletics.

  • Nestor Cortes SP | PHI

Yankees' Nestor Cortes: Heading to majors

Cortes had his contract selected from Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre following Wednesday's game, Conor Foley of The Scranton Times-Tribune reports.

Cortes has been with the RailRiders since early 2018 after he returned to the Yankees organization following his designation for assignment by the Orioles. The 24-year-old struggled in Baltimore as he allowed four runs on 10 hits over 4.2 innings during his only previous stint in the majors. Cortes has a 4.54 ERA, 1.16 WHIP and 34:11 K:BB through 33.2 innings at Scranton/Wilkes-Barre this season.

  • Kyle Gibson SP | BAL

Twins' Kyle Gibson: Strikes out 11

Gibson (3-1) allowed one earned run on two hits and one walk while striking out 11 across six innings to earn the win Wednesday against the Blue Jays.

Gibson tossed his best outing of the season, with his loan blemish coming on a solo home run by Billy McKinney. He otherwise held the Blue Jays without an extra-base hit and didn't allow any runners to reach scoring position. While Gibson didn't pitch especially deep into the game, his 11 strikeouts stand out and were backed by 19 swinging strikes on a total of just 88 pitches. He'll look to build on this effort, with his next start likely to come Tuesday against the Angels.
