  • Tommy Milone SP | SEA

Mariners' Tommy Milone: Solid in 2019 debut

Milone (0-1) took the loss Tuesday, giving up two runs on three hits and a walk over five innings while striking out six as the Mariners were downed 5-3 by the Rangers.

The veteran left-hander gave Seattle a solid effort in his first big-league start of the season, but the offense didn't get going until after Milone had left the game. The club hasn't yet announced whether he'll stick in the rotation, but this performance was likely good enough to earn him at least one more turn.

  • Astros' Justin Verlander: Dominates ChiSox for eighth win

Verlander (8-1) picked up the win in Tuesday's 5-1 victory over the White Sox, allowing one run on one hit and one walk over eight innings while striking out a season-high 12.

The perennial Cy Young contender took a no-hitter into the seventh inning, before Jose Abreu took him deep with one out. Verlander has delivered three straight quality starts and nine in 11 trips to the mound this season, and he'll take a 2.24 ERA and 89:17 K:BB through 72.1 innings into his next outing Sunday, at home against the Red Sox.

  • Red Sox's Eduardo Rodriguez: Tosses up three homers

Rodriguez (4-3) allowed six runs on six hits with five strikeouts and three walks across five innings while taking a loss to the Blue Jays on Tuesday.

The left-hander hadn't allowed a home run in five straight outings despite giving up 42 flyballs in those starts. So he was probably due to yield the three homers that led to his demise Tuesday. Rodriguez is 4-3 with a 5.43 ERA, 1.46 WHIP and 61 strikeouts in 54.2 innings this season.

  • Marcus Stroman SP | NYY

Blue Jays' Marcus Stroman: Picks up win despite six walks

Stroman (2-6) allowed one run on five hits with four strikeouts and six walks over six innings in a victory against the Red Sox on Tuesday.

The 28-year-old picked up a rare win despite a season-high six walks. None of runners put on via the free pass came around to score. Walks haven't been too much of an issue for Stroman this season, but one has to believe that if he walks that many in one game again, he will not be so fortunate with the results. Stroman is 2-6 with a 2.81 ERA, 1.34 WHIP and 55 strikeouts in 64 innings. He will pitch next against the Padres on Sunday.

  • Tigers' Spencer Turnbull: Takes no-decision

Turnbull did not factor into the decision in Tuesday's 5-4, 11-inning loss to the Marlins, as he allowed three runs over five innings. He gave up seven hits and two walks while striking out four.

Turnbull wasn't particularly sharp, as he put plenty of men on base and needed 92 pitches to navigate his five innings. The righty earlier rattled off four consecutive stellar starts, in which he posted a 0.75 ERA and 2-0 record across 24 innings, but his last three outings have resulted in no quality starts or wins and a 3.68 ERA. Turnbull will look to get back into the win column his next time out Sunday against the Mets on the road.

  • Domingo German SP | PIT

    Yankees' Domingo German: Wins again

German (9-1) got the win against the Orioles on Tuesday, giving up three runs (two earned) on five hits over five innings, striking out five and walking one as the Yankees won 11-4.

The right-hander continues to rack up wins at a torrid rate to start the season, as this was his ninth victory in 10 decisions. Although this wasn't his greatest stat line, German still has the look of a breakout performer so far in 2019. His lights-out record is supported by a 2.60 ERA, 0.98 WHIP and 57:16 K:BB through 55.1 innings.

  • Dean Kremer SP | MIN

Orioles' Dean Kremer: Promoted to Double-A

Kremer was promoted to Double-A Bowie on Tuesday, Nathan Ruiz of The Baltimore Sun reports.

He missed the first month of the minor-league season with an oblique injury, but after tossing 9.2 scoreless innings with 14 strikeouts over his first two starts at High-A, he quickly ascends to the Double-A level, where he made nine starts in 2018.

  • Nathan Eovaldi SP | TEX

Red Sox's Nathan Eovaldi: Making good progress

Eovaldi (elbow) threw a 35-pitch bullpen session Tuesday, Pete Abraham of The Boston Globe reports.

He was able to throw his secondary pitches for the first time since undergoing late-April surgery to remove loose bodies in his right elbow. Eovaldi said he felt fine after the bullpen session. He should continue to build up his workload and could return to the big-league rotation in early-to-mid-June.

  • Jesus Luzardo SP | PHI

Athletics' Jesus Luzardo: To face hitters Saturday

Luzardo (shoulder) will throw to hitters Saturday, Susan Slusser of the San Francisco Chronicle reports.

The prized southpaw continues to trend in the right direction. He could be pitching in minor-league games by the end of the month, and from there it may only be a few weeks until he has completed his version of a full spring training. Prior to the mid-March shoulder injury, Luzardo was a candidate to open the year in the big-league rotation, and he could make his big-league debut before the All-Star break if everything goes perfectly from here.

  • Tyler Glasnow SP | LAD

Rays' Tyler Glasnow: Pain-free, progressing well

Glasnow (forearm) said Tuesday that he is pain free and he will progress to throwing a baseball soon, Steve Carney of Sports Radio 620 WDAE reports.

He threw a tennis ball Tuesday and has been doing cardio and weightlifting on the side. Glasnow is progressing better than expected and says he will be back sooner than later. The initial timetable was 4-to-6 weeks back on May 11, and while his recovery is going well, it would still be wise to view a mid-June return as the best-case scenario.
