Jesus Luzardo SP | PHI
Athletics' Jesus Luzardo: Undergoes MRI
Luzardo (lat) underwent an MRI on Wednesday, Susan Slusser of the San Francisco Chronicle reports.
The results of the test are not yet clear. Luzardo was pulled from his start Tuesday for Triple-A Las Vegas with lat tightness. He's had an injury-filled season in what was supposed to be a breakout campaign, as he also battled a strained rotator cuff previously.

Griffin Canning RP | SD
Angels' Griffin Canning: Now starting Thursday
Canning's next start will be pushed back to Thursday against the Rangers, Mike DiGiovanna of the Los Angeles Times reports.
Jaime Barria has been recalled and will get the start Wednesday. Fortunately, it seems there are no health issues to report with Canning; apparently the team just wanted to build in an extra rest day. Canning has enjoyed quite a bit of success so far at the big-league level, though the estimators are less favorable on account of his 1.8 HR/9.

Dylan Cease SP | TOR
White Sox's Dylan Cease: Wins MLB debut
Cease (1-0) recorded six strikeouts and allowed three runs on four hits and four walks across five innings while earning a victory against the Tigers during the first game of a doubleheader Wednesday.
The right-hander received his first taste of the big leagues as part of the first half of a doubleheader. While he struggled a bit with control, Cease received plenty of run support, and he lasted the minimum five innings to earn the win. Cease was added as the 26th man on the roster for the doubleheader Wednesday, but he is expected to remain in the rotation after the All-Star break.

Marcus Stroman SP | NYY
Blue Jays' Marcus Stroman: Uncertain for Thursday's start
Manager Charlie Montoyo said Stroman (pectoral) is still "day-to-day" and not a lock to make Thursday's start against Boston, Scott Mitchell of TSN.ca reports. "We'll see how he feels," Montoyo said.
The skipper said after Saturday's game that Stroman wouldn't miss a start, but it sounds like the team may reverse course and skip the right-hander after all as a precaution. Stroman said Wednesday that his pectoral is "fine," but added that he's thinking long term and feels the extra rest might come at the perfect time. If Stroman is indeed scratched, Thomas Pannone would likely be recalled to make the start.

Jose Urquidy RP | PHI
Astros' Jose Urquidy: Sticking in rotation
Urquidy will start Sunday's game against the Angels, Jake Kaplan of The Athletic reports.
He did about as good as could be expected in his big-league debut in Coors Field, giving up two runs while striking out four and walking one in 3.2 innings. Urquidy has a nice four-pitch mix and is now a very legitimate pitching prospect after experiencing a significant uptick in velocity this year. When he is going well, he has a plus fastball, plus changeup and two quality breaking balls, which all play up thanks to good command. There is no reason he can't stick in the rotation in the second half, especially if Sunday's outing goes well.

Forrest Whitley RP | TB
Astros' Forrest Whitley: Throws off mound
Whitley posted a video on his personal Twitter account Friday of him throwing off a mound at the Astros' spring training complex.
The game's top pitching prospect has not pitched in a game since May 23 due to shoulder fatigue, but he has been ramping up his throwing program of late. The hope is that Whitley can return to the Triple-A rotation in the coming weeks. He will need to pitch much better this time around in the Pacific Coast League in order to earn a promotion to the majors in the second half.

Dylan Cease SP | TOR
White Sox's Dylan Cease: Callup official
The White Sox officially recalled Cease from Triple-A Charlotte ahead of his scheduled start Wednesday in the first game of the team's doubleheader with the Tigers.
Cease is designated as the White Sox's 26th man for the twin bill, though James Fegan of The Athletic relays that the prized right-hander is expected to remain in Chicago's rotation after the All-Star break. The 23-year-old has shown premium strikeout stuff at every rung of the minors, but occasionally shaky command and control has often resulted in some elevated WHIPs. Cease posted a 4.48 ERA and 73:32 K:BB and gave up four home runs over 68.1 innings at Charlotte before earning his first call to the majors.

Domingo German SP | PIT
Yankees' Domingo German: Reinstated ahead of start
The Yankees reinstated German (hip) from the 10-day injured list ahead of his scheduled start Wednesday against the Mets.
Relieved Stephen Tarpley was sent to Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre in a corresponding move, clearing the way for German to make his first appearance with the big club since June 7. German tossed 65 pitches while covering four innings in his lone rehab start at Triple-A last week, so he'll likely be subject to a more restricted workload than normal in his first outing back from the IL.

Jesus Luzardo SP | PHI
Athletics' Jesus Luzardo: Battles lat tightness in rehab start
Luzardo (shoulder) was removed from his start Tuesday with Triple-A Las Vegas after four innings due to tightness in his left lat muscle, Martin Gallegos of MLB.com reports.
Making his fifth start overall in the minors and his third with Las Vegas after a strained rotator cuff delayed his start to the season, Luzardo cruised through the first four frames, giving up one run on two hits and no walks while striking out five. While Gallegos characterized Luzardo's removal as a matter of cautiousness, it's still disconcerting that he's now dealing with another health issue. The Athletics will likely send Luzardo in for additional tests in the coming days to determine the extent of his latest injury, but any potential MLB debut will likely be pushed back further even if the 21-year-old steers clear of a major setback.

Jake Odorizzi SP | TB
Twins' Jake Odorizzi: Lands on IL with blister
The Twins placed Odorizzi on the 10-day injured list after he sustained a right middle finger blister during his start in Tuesday's 8-6 loss to the Athletics, Do-Hyoung Park of MLB.com reports.
Odorizzi failed to deliver a quality start for the fourth straight outing Tuesday, ceding six runs (five earned) on four hits and three walks over three innings while striking out two. While Park notes that Odorizzi could pitch through the blister if needed, the Twins wanted to get ahead of the matter and give him extra time to heal up ahead of the second half. Odorizzi thus appears to be in line for a minimum stay on the IL or close to it, though the injury will prevent him from starting Sunday's game against Texas and appearing in his first All-Star Game next week. Zack Littell was called up from Triple-A Rochester in a corresponding move to provide the bullpen with an extra arm, but the Twins haven't announced a replacement in the rotation for Odorizzi.
