Cole (5-1) pitched eight shutout innings while allowing four hits and striking out 12 as he picked up a win over the Rays on Wednesday.

It was a historic day for Cole as Wednesday was his fifth start this season of at least 10 strikeouts and no walks, which broke Mike Mussina's single-season team record from 2001. He also notched his 1,500th career strikeout in the third inning and became the fourth fastest pitcher in MLB history to reach that milestone. The 30-year-old last walked a batter April 12 and has struck out 56 since then, which ties Curt Schilling for the longest such streak in a season since at least 1961. The right-hander has the third-best ERA among qualified pitchers at 1.37, the second-best WHIP at 0.68, and trails only Shane Beiber with 78 strikeouts over 52.2 innings. He'll look to continue his dominant form in a favorable matchup against the Rangers at the beginning of next week.

Bielak (2-2) was credited with the win in relief Wednesday, when he allowed one run on two hits and one walk while striking out two against the Angels.

Bielak entered during the fourth inning with Houston leading 3-0 after starter Jose Urquidy departed with "posterior shoulder discomfort." The reliever retired 10 of the first 11 Angels faced and threw 41 strikes among his 53 pitches. Urquidy, who was sharper Wednesday than in any of his seven preceding starts, is day-to-day and has not been ruled out for his next start scheduled for Tuesday in Oakland.

Dunn (1-1) took the loss against the Dodgers on Wednesday, pitching 3.1 innings and allowing two runs on three hits and three walks while striking out two.

Dunn allowed only two baserunners through his first three frames, but things fell apart for the right-hander in the fourth. He started the inning by issuing two straight walks, and the Dodgers made him pay by loading the bases on a single before Matt Beaty tagged him with a two-run double. The outing was the shortest of the season for Dunn, who has navigated a poor 15.3 percent walk rate to a tolerable 3.72 ERA on the campaign. His next start is likely to come at home against Detroit early next week.

Keuchel (2-1) allowed six earned runs on eight hits and one walk while striking out one across 5.2 innings, getting the win over the Twins on Wednesday.

Keuchel allowed six earned runs, including a two-out solo home run to Nelson Cruz in the first inning, but he received enough run support to get the win in the high-scoring affair. The 33-year-old has a couple solid starts on his ledger but has been mediocre overall, posting a 4.53 ERA and 1.26 WHIP in 43.2 innings, along with a poor 1.2 K/BB. His next start is scheduled for Monday in Minnesota.

Rodriguez (5-1) took the loss Wednesday as the Red Sox were downed 4-1 by the A's, giving up four runs on seven hits and a walk over six innings. He struck out a season-high nine.

The southpaw didn't get enough run support to survive his mistakes, including a Matt Olson solo shot in the sixth inning. Rodriguez tossed 63 of 99 pitches for strikes, and he'll take a 4.15 ERA and 42:7 K:BB through 39 innings into his next outing.

Kaprielian (1-0) picked up the win Wednesday, allowing one run on four hits and three walks over five innings in a 4-1 victory over the Red Sox. He struck out six.

The right-hander recorded his first major-league win in his first major-league start, throwing 58 of 95 pitches for strikes before exiting. Kaprielian could get a long look in the rotation with neither Jesus Luzardo (finger) nor Mike Fiers (elbow) expected back before the end of the month.

Ryu (3-2) allowed one earned run on five hits and one walk while striking out six across seven innings to earn the win Wednesday win over Atlanta.

Ryu cruised through the Atlanta lineup, with the only blemish coming on a solo home run by William Contreras. He was efficient with his pitches, throwing 63 strikes on 94 total pitches while also completing more than six innings for the third time this season. Ryu now has a 2.95 ERA with a 38:5 K:BB across 39.2 innings, and he is currently lined up to draw his next start Tuesday against Boston.

Heaney (1-3) allowed five earned runs on nine hits while striking out five across 5.1 innings to take the loss to the Astros on Wednesday.

Heaney was lit up for three home runs on Wednesday. Jose Altuve hit one off the foul pole on the first pitch of the game and things never got better for Heaney. The 30-year-old is very inconsistent this season, with his outings performances ranging from a 10-strikeout scoreless effort to efforts like Wednesday. His 12.3 K/9 is fourth highest in the American League, but he also carries a 4.75 ERA through 36 innings.

Mize (2-3) allowed two runs on three hits across six innings to earn the win Wednesday against Kansas City. He walked two and struck out four.

The Tigers are just 12-24, but Mize has been holding his own lately. The 24-year-old has now logged three straight quality starts, though this was the first time he got a win for his efforts during the stretch. Mize has used the good run to lower his season ERA to 4.19 through seven starts, which is a nice sign of progress after he posted a 6.99 ERA across the same number of outings in his 2020 rookie campaign. He'll look to keep posting strong results his next time out Monday against the Mariners.

Urquidy was removed from Wednesday's start against the Angels with posterior shoulder discomfort, Chandler Rome of the Houston Chronicle reports.

The 26-year-old is considered day-to-day after being limited to 3.2 innings Wednesday due to the injury. Urquidy's next turn through the rotation lines up for Tuesday at Oakland, and it's unclear if he'll be able to take the mound for that contest.
