Irvin (3-5) took a loss against Seattle on Tuesday, allowing four runs on 10 hits and a walk with two strikeouts over 4.2 innings.

Irvin ran into trouble in the first and fourth, allowing seven runners and all four runs in those two innings. He's been known to pitch to contact during his brief career, but he's given up a little too much of it over his last four starts, as he's posted just an 8:6 K:BB with 14 runs (13 earned) on 27 hits over 22.2 innings. In the four-start stretch that preceded this contact-heavy skid, Irvin posted a 29:3 K:BB, so he's shown that he's capable of missing more bats, but consistency is clearly eluding him.

Gilbert went four innings in a 4-3 win Tuesday versus Oakland, allowing two runs on four hits with four strikeouts in a no-decision.

Gilbert allowed all four hits and both runs in the second, but he was perfect in his other three frames other than hitting Sean Murphy with a pitch. Manager Scott Servais opted to remove Gilbert prior to the fifth with the top of Oakland's lineup due up despite the rookie having thrown only 78 pitches. He lines up to try for his first win at home against Oakland on Memorial Day.

Giolito (4-4) allowed two runs (one earned) on six hits and no walks while striking out five across six innings to earn the win Tuesday against the Cardinals.

Giolito was given a five-run lead after two innings, and he took advantage by attacking the strike zone and avoiding walks. Both of his runs came in the third inning, though the rally was aided by a Yoan Moncada throwing error as well as an infield hit. Overall, it was another strong outing for Giolito, and he has now allowed just two earned runs across his last 14 innings of work. Giolito is projected to make his next start Sunday against Baltimore.

Kremer (0-5) allowed five earned runs on six hits and three walks while striking out five across four innings to take the loss Tuesday against the Twins.

Kremer struggled with his control beyond his three walks, with two runs crossing the plate on wild pitches in the second inning. He was also hit hard at times, as he surrendered two extra-base hits in the same frame. Though he's shown glimpses of turning his promise as a prospect into results, Kremer now has a 6.87 ERA with a 37:16 K:BB across 38 innings this season.

Matz (6-2) earned the win Tuesday against the Yankees after giving up one run on six hits while striking out 10 across 6.2 innings.

Matz has been a reliable presence in the Blue Jays' rotation, and this was a sharp bounce-back performance after his five-run, 10-hit dud against the Red Sox his last time out. The lefty has now recorded at least nine strikeouts three times this year, including twice in his last three starts, but his boom-or-bust results make him a somewhat risky fantasy play. He'll draw a road tilt against Cleveland on Sunday.

Berrios (5-2) allowed three runs (one earned) on seven hits and two walks while striking out seven across 5.2 innings to earn the win Tuesday against the Orioles.

Berrios got himself into trouble in the second inning by surrendering two singles and a walk, but he avoided being charged for the pair of runs scored due to an error by Andrelton Simmons. He had little trouble with the Orioles' lineup otherwise, and he earned his fifth win of the season. Through 10 starts, Berrios has maintained a 3.67 ERA and a strong 63:17 K:BB across 56.1 innings. He currently projects to draw his next start Monday in a rematch at Baltimore.

Skubal (1-7) was charged with the loss Tuesday against Cleveland after allowing two runs on six hits and a walk while striking out nine over five innings.

For the second straight start, Skubal whiffed a season-high-tying nine batters, throwing 55 of 93 pitches for strikes this time around. After giving up a leadoff solo homer to Cesar Hernandez in the first inning, the 24-year-old straightened things out until faltering slightly in the fourth inning when he gave up a single, a double and a run-scoring groundout. Per usual, Skubal did not receive enough run support from his teammates, saddling him with his seventh loss of the year, tied for the most in the majors. Still, his 5.23 ERA and 1.51 WHIP aren't doing the southpaw any favors. Skubal has a tough battle ahead in his next projected start Sunday against the Yankees.

Civale (7-1) earned the win Tuesday after holding Detroit to one run on six hits and a walk while striking out six across eight innings.

Civale actually blanked the Tigers until the ninth inning, when he remained in the game in pursuit of a complete-game shutout. Unfortunately, he gave up a leadoff single followed by a walk, prompting his exit following his 104th pitch. The bullpen then allowed one of his baserunners to score, charging him with a run. It was the longest outing of the season for the right-hander, who has held his opponent to a single run on four occasions. With his seventh win, Civale has entered a tie for second in the majors. Now sporting a 3.04 ERA and 1.00 WHIP, the 25-year-old is slated for a home matchup against Toronto on Sunday.

Manager Chris Woodward said Allard is the likely candidate to make a spot start in place of Kyle Gibson (groin), Sam Blum of The Dallas Morning News reports.

Allard is working as a reliever this season, but he's poised for a spot start with Gibson on the injured list. Allard has a 3.15 ERA, 1.25 WHIP and 23:6 K:BB over 20 innings this season. The left-hander regularly pitches multiple innings and has covered three frames on two separate occasions, though he's unlikely to have a full starter's workload if he does make a start.

Kluber was removed from Tuesday's start against the Blue Jays with tightness in his right shoulder.

The 35-year-old didn't appear to be in any obvious discomfort Tuesday but was pulled after three innings due to the shoulder issue -- he allowed two runs on two hits and three walks while fanning five en route to his third loss of the season. Kluber will undergo an MRI on Wednesday to determine the severity and specifics of the injury. The veteran right-hander was limited to one inning last season due to a muscle tear in his right shoulder, so there's some obvious concern regarding Tuesday's departure.
