Gilbert got a no-decision in Tuesday's 5-4 loss to Texas, allowing two runs on five hits with five strikeouts in six innings.

Facing a dismal Rangers team, Gilbert limited the damage to a single run in both the second and fifth innings to post his first quality start in five turns. The 24-year-old prevented a free pass for the first time since July 8, which is a welcome development considering he walked four Rays in five innings last time out.

Keuchel (7-6) pitched six innings against Minnesota on Tuesday, allowing four runs on four hits and four walks while striking out one to take the loss.

The southpaw had a difficult time finding the strike zone in the contest, throwing only 54 of 102 pitches for strikes and tying a season high with four walks. He was in line for the win, however, until Willians Astudillo tagged him for a two-run home run in the sixth inning. Keuchel has gone at least six innings in four of his past six starts but has registered a 4.58 ERA while going 1-3 over that span.

Allard got a no-decision during Tuesday's 5-4 triumph over Seattle, allowing two runs on six hits with four strikeouts in six innings.

Allard avoided danger aside from back-to-back solo blasts by Mitch Haniger and Kyle Seager to lead off the fourth. The 23-year-old lefty had lost eight straight starts prior to Tuesday's no-decision, though he's now posted consecutive quality starts while allowing four runs across 12 innings in that span. He'll look to get in the win column in his next start, tentatively scheduled for Sunday against Oakland.

Lynch did not factor in the decision against the Yankees on Tuesday. He pitched 4.2 innings, allowing three runs on four hits and four walks while striking out six.

The rookie was wildly inefficient in the outing, needing 100 pitches -- only 58 of which were strikes -- to get through 4.2 frames. He tied his season high with four walks but managed to keep the Royals in the game thanks in part to six strikeouts and 17 swinging strikes. Lynch has posted an unappealing 5.97 ERA over seven big-league outings, but he has been better since his most recent promotion, posting a 2.66 ERA and 1.18 WHIP across 23.2 innings since July 25. His next start is tentatively slated to come against Houston early next week.

Cortes (0-1) was tagged with the loss against Kansas City on Tuesday as a result of allowing five runs (four earned) on seven hits over 5.2 innings. He struck out five.

Cortes received another start due to the Yankees' depleted rotation, but he couldn't replicate the success that saw him allow only three earned runs over his previous 10 innings. The left-handed hurler was tormented by Salvador Perez, who slugged two home runs against him in the contest. Cortes did manage to take down a season-high 5.2 frames, but he also yielded season highs in hits (seven) and earned runs (four). It remains to be seen how long he'll remain in the rotation given the looming returns of Gerrit Cole and Jordan Montgomery, both of whom remain on the COVID-19 injured list, but Cortes should get at least one more opportunity to start. He's in line to face the White Sox on the road this weekend.

Mize allowed four runs (three earned) on five hits across 4.1 innings and did not factor into the decision Tuesday against the Orioles. He walked one and struck out four.

Home runs did in Mize in this one, as he allowed three solo shots, including two by Anthony Santander. The long ball has plagued the righty lately, as he's now given up exactly three home runs in back-to-back starts. For the season, Mize has a 1.65 HR/9, which is an improvement from the 2.2 HR/9 mark he posted during his 2020 rookie campaign. Hopefully, the recent struggles keeping the ball in the park are just a blip on the radar for the 24-year-old, who has been solid overall with a 3.66 ERA this year. Mize will look to get back on track in his next start, projected for Sunday against Cleveland.

Dunn (shoulder) resumed throwing off a mound Tuesday, Daniel Kramer of MLB.com reports.

Dunn was poised to begin throwing off a mound last week before hitting a snag in his recovery, but he was able get back on the mound Tuesday. The right-hander will need to continue building up his workload before being cleared to begin a rehab assignment, so he may not return from the injured list until September.

Stripling was removed from Game 2 of Tuesday's doubleheader against the Angels with left abdominal discomfort.

Stripling delivered two scoreless frames with one hit and one walk allowed before exiting the contest. The right-hander's status for his next turn through the rotation is uncertain.

McKenzie allowed two runs on four hits and one walk with five strikeouts through six innings, taking a no-decision in Tuesday's 4-3 loss to Oakland.

McKenzie got better as the game went on Tuesday night, striking out four consecutive Oakland batters in his third trip through the order. The only damage to his line came on a Sean Murphy RBI double in the second and a Seth Brown solo homer in the fourth. While this is McKenzie's fifth straight start in which he has allowed multiple earned runs, the 24-year-old needed just 86 pitches to get through six innings and scored a quality start. McKenzie has never thrown more than 93 pitches in a start in his career, suggesting there is a limit as to how far Cleveland will push him. However, he has now gone six or more innings in four of his last six starts. The lanky right-hander didn't venture beyond 5.1 innings in any of his first 11 starts this season.

Manager Chris Woodward said Dunning (ankle) is expected to be activated from the 10-day injured list to start Friday against the Athletics, Chris Halicke of SI.com reports.

Dunning landed on the shelf following his last start Aug. 2, and he's set to rejoin the rotation after being sidelined for the 10-day minimum. Assuming he's cleared to pitch Friday, the right-hander shouldn't face any significant workload limitations in his return to the mound.
