Montas fired seven scoreless innings, allowing just two hits and two walks while striking out nine in the loss to the Giants on Sunday. He did not factor into the decision.

Montas allowed just four total baserunners across seven innings. It is the second time in his last five starts that he fired seven shutout innings. He left the game with the lead, but A.J. Puk surrendered a home run to lose the game. Montas has a 3.84 ERA and 1.24 WHIP with a solid 10.1 K/9 in 143 innings this season.

Suarez (5-7) took the loss in Sunday's 3-0 shutout against Cleveland, allowing three runs on six hits and two walks with four strikeouts in four innings.

Suarez didn't have his best stuff Sunday as he permitted a season-high nine baserunners and had traffic on the bases during all four innings. Given his age (23), Los Angeles' struggling rotation and its waning playoff hopes, Suarez should have a spot in the rotation for the rest of the season, barring injury.

Quantrill (4-2) won Sunday's 3-0 shutout of the Angels, permitting two hits and two walks with nine strikeouts in seven innings.

Quantrill dominated Los Angeles all game and limited rallies to the first and third innings, retiring the final 13 batters he faced. The young righty fell one strikeout short of his season high and required just 94 pitches to navigate seven innings. Quantrill has lived up to his first-round draft slot in August, compiling a 1.45 ERA, 0.97 WHIP and 34:10 K:BB in five starts, and he is slated to make his next turn over the weekend against Boston.

The Red Sox are expected to recall Houck from Triple-A Worcester to start Tuesday's game against the Twins, Pete Abraham of The Boston Globe reports.

As the only member of the Boston rotation that has minor-league options remaining, Houck has been sent back to Worcester after each of his last five starts with the big club strictly for roster-management purposes. With the Red Sox recently moving Garrett Richards and Martin Perez to the bullpen, Houck's spot in the rotation looks secure at this point, and the rookie should get a temporary reprieve from the repeated demotions after Tuesday's start. Boston's matchup Monday with the Rangers begins a stretch of 17 games in 17 days, which will leave the team with fewer loopholes through which to quickly move Houck on and off the active roster. Over 34.2 innings with the big club this season, the 25-year-old owns a 3.12 ERA, 1.15 WHIP and 11.9 K/9.

Gil won't start Monday's game against Atlanta, Sweeny Murti of Sports Radio 66 WFAN reports.

Gil was expected to start Sunday's series finale against the Twins before the game was postponed due to inclement weather. The Yankees will remain on turn in the rotation rather than recalling the right-hander, so Jordan Montgomery will start Monday, while Andrew Heaney will take the mound Tuesday.

Farrell (oblique) struck out three of the four batters he faced and walked the other in his first rehab appearance Sunday with Triple-A St. Paul.

Farrell, who is working his way back from an oblique strain, needed 18 pitches to retire the side in what marked his first appearance at any level since June 22. He'll likely make at least one or two more appearances with St. Paul before the Twins reinstate him from the 10-day injured list.

Boyd (triceps) is scheduled to make what's expected to be his third and final rehab start at Triple-A Toledo on Tuesday, Chris McCosky of The Detroit News reports.

After covering three innings and 43 pitches in his most recent outing Aug. 18, Boyd is expected to push his pitch count up to the 60-to-70 range Tuesday. If Boyd experiences no setbacks with his left triceps tendon in the outing, he could slide back into the Detroit rotation as soon as Sunday's series finale with the Blue Jays. Boyd has been on the 60-day injured list since June 14.

Tigers manager A.J. Hinch said Sunday that a decision hasn't been made whether Urena (groin) will serve as a starter or reliever upon returning from the 10-day injured list, Chris McCosky of The Detroit News reports.

Urena made his second rehab start at Triple-A Toledo on Saturday, striking out two over two scoreless frames. He made the appearance on three days' rest rather than the standard four between starts, which would seemingly hint that the Tigers are leaning toward deploying him as a multi-inning arm out of the bullpen once he's activated. The need for the Tigers to build Urena back up for starting duty is lessened by the fact that he's on a similar recovery timeline as Matthew Boyd (triceps), whose impending return from the IL would allow Detroit to keep its six-man rotation intact.

Arihara (shoulder) worked two scoreless innings in his rehab start Sunday at Double-A Frisco, allowing one hit and striking out two.

Arihara tossed 28 pitches (16 strikes) in his first rehab start and his first appearance at any level of affiliated ball since May 8. The Rangers plan on having Arihara making one more rehab appearance before he's reinstated from the 60-day injured list. Though he had been working as a member of the rotation prior to undergoing surgery to address a shoulder aneurysm, Arihara will likely be deployed as a multi-inning reliever upon returning from the 60-day injured list.

Anderson allowed two runs on eight hits and a walk over 5.1 innings in Sunday's win over Houston. He struck out four and did not factor in the decision.

Both runs against Anderson came in the second inning, including a solo blast by Yordan Alvarez. The 6-foot-2 southpaw has performed well since Seattle acquired him in July, going 1-0 with a 3.00 ERA and a 19:3 K:BB over five starts. For the year, he owns a 4.07 ERA through 130.1 frames. Anderson is lined up to face the Royals at home next weekend.
