McCullers didn't factor into the decision during Tuesday's 4-0 loss to Seattle, allowing four hits and three walks with three strikeouts in five innings.

McCullers labored a bit in this one, needing 102 pitches to navigate five innings, but he was able to keep Seattle off the board by escaping bases-loaded jams in the first and fourth innings. The 27-year-old concludes August on a high note; he ends the month with a 3.12 ERA in 34.2 innings across six starts.

Kikuchi got a no-decision in Tuesday's 4-0 win over Houston, allowing four hits and two walks with four strikeouts across seven innings.

Kikuchi was able to manage a formidable Astros lineup all game, with his biggest threats being two-on-one-out situations in the second and fourth innings. The successful start tied for the first-time All-Star's longest of the season, and it was his first quality start in five turns. He's set to face Houston yet again early next week.

Taillon (8-5) allowed six earned runs on five hits and two walks while striking out six across 4.2 innings, taking the loss to the Angels on Tuesday.

Taillon started off with three scoreless innings but surrendered three runs in each of the fourth and fifth frames. He allowed a three-run homer to Jared Walsh to open up the scoring. Taillon has struggled lately, failing to record a quality outing over his past four starts. The 29-year-old's ERA and WHIP have climbed to 4.44 and 1.24, respectively. He has recorded 131 strikeouts in 131.2 innings this season.

Giolito was removed from Tuesday's start against the Pirates with tightness in his left hamstring.

Giolito appeared to suffer the injury during the fifth inning while attempting to field an infield single, leading to his exit. The 27-year-old won't factor in the decision since he pitched 4.1 innings, and he gave up two runs on three hits with five strikeouts and four walks. The White Sox lost Lance Lynn (knee) to the injured list earlier Tuesday, and it's unclear whether Giolito will also require a trip to the shelf.

Giolito was removed from Tuesday's game against the Pirates with an apparent leg injury, James Fegan of The Athletic reports.

Giolito appeared to tweak something in his leg while attempting to field an infield single during the fifth inning, and he was pulled after throwing a test pitch. He allowed two runs on three hits with five strikeouts and four walks across 4.1 innings before being removed. The White Sox have scheduled off days Thursday and Monday, so the rotation could be shuffled to provide Giolito some extra rest if he doesn't require a stint on the injured list.

Manager Dusty Baker said that Urquidy will be activated to start in place of Zack Greinke (undisclosed) during the upcoming weekend series in San Diego, Brian McTaggart of MLB.com reports.

Urquidy was already trending toward being activated for a start during the series with the Friars, and now the skipper has confirmed that the righty will take the ball at some point over the weekend with Greinke moving to the COVID-19 IL. Urquidy has been out since late June with right shoulder discomfort, but he pitched well prior to the injury, posting a 3.38 ERA, 0.96 WHIP and 66:13 K:BB across 77.1 innings.

Zack Greinke was placed on the COVID-19 injured list Tuesday, Chandler Rome of the Houston Chronicle reports.

There's been no indication yet of whether Greinke tested positive for the virus or if he was identified via contact tracing. Further, whether the 37-year-old is vaccinated will factor into when he can return from the IL. Per Chandler Rome of the Houston Chronicle, manager Dusty Baker said that Greinke will miss his next turn through the rotation, but he did not speculate on an exact timeline for when he could return to the club.

McKenzie (shoulder) will be activated from the 10-day injured list and start Thursday's game against the Royals.

Apparently the righty's shoulder fatigue was not a serious injury, as he'll have spent the minimum amount of time on the IL. McKenzie is coming off two outstanding starts in which he threw 15 total innings with 19 strikeouts while allowing just three hits and one run. He's enjoyed incredible success in three starts against the Royals this season, allowing only one run in 15.2 total innings with 19 strikeouts.

Lynn (knee) will only miss one start after being placed on the injured list with right knee inflammation, Jesse Rogers of ESPN.com reports.

Manager Tony La Russa confirmed that Lynn's IL placement was a precautionary move. The righty has seen his ERA rise from 2.04 to 2.59 after allowing 13 runs in his last 21 innings, but he remains one of the top pitchers in baseball and will be needed at full health if the White Sox are to go far in the postseason.

Lynn was placed on the 10-day injured list Tuesday with right knee inflammation.

It's unclear whether Lynn is dealing with a serious injury or if the division-leading White Sox are just being precautionary and managing his workload with the postseason a month away. A minimum stay on the IL would cause the righty, who most recently allowed seven runs to the Cubs on Saturday, to miss only one start. Reynaldo Lopez figures to fill Lynn's rotation spot for however long he's sidelined.
