Gray will start the first game of Sunday's doubleheader against the Yankees.

The first two games of the series in New York have been postponed due to inclement weather, forcing Sunday's doubleheader and a makeup game Monday. It's uncertain who will follow Gray in the nightcap, and both Dane Dunning and Glenn Otto are rested.

Cole and the Yankees won't play Saturday against the Rangers after the game was postponed due to inclement weather.

Cole was initially slated to start Friday against Texas, but he'll be pushed back once again after a second consecutive game was postponed. Saturday's game will be made up Monday, while Cole will start in Sunday's matinee against the Rangers, Kennedi Landry of MLB.com reports.

Gilbert allowed four runs (three earned) on seven hits and three walks over five innings in Friday's loss to Tampa Bay. He struck out six and did not factor in the decision.

Gilbert was handed a 2-0 lead after the first inning but it quickly evaporated when he coughed up three runs in the second on three straight RBI singles from Yandy Diaz, Wander Franco and Randy Arozarena. Gilbert had won his previous four starts and hadn't allowed more than one run in any of his first five outings to being the 2022 campaign. After walking just one batter in his first three starts, the 25-year-old has issued 10 free passes over his last three. Gilbert will carry a 1.36 ERA into his projected home start against the Phillies next week.

Garcia (2-1) allowed two runs (one earned) on two hits and two walks over seven innings Friday, striking out nine and earning a win over the Tigers.

Garcia was dominant in Friday's victory; he didn't allow an extra-base hit and both runs to score against him came via RBI groundouts. He also tied his career high with nine punchouts and retired the last 13 batters he faced. The 25-year-old righty is now sporting a 3.45 ERA with a 28:7 K:BB through 28.2 frames. Garcia is projected to take the mound in Washington next week.

Gray (hamstring) is coming off the injured list to start Saturday's game against the A's, Do-Hyoung Park of MLB.com reports.

Earlier this week, it seemed Gray would make a rehab start at Triple-A St. Paul on Friday, but that start will instead come for the big club in a favorable matchup. He made his only rehab start Sunday and hasn't pitched in the majors since April 16. Assuming he is fully healthy, Gray should be able to improve on his season numbers against an Oakland offense that ranks 26th in the majors with an 82 wRC+ and second-worst in baseball with a 26.0 K%.

Eovaldi (1-1) gave up three runs on six hits and three walks while striking out four over five innings Friday against the White Sox. He took the loss.

Jose Abreu had a sacrifice fly in the top of the third inning and Luis Robert hit a towering two-run homer in the third, which accounted for all the damage on Eovaldi. He has already given up eight home runs in 33.2 innings this season, which is the one big knock on Eovaldi's otherwise stellar season. Tentatively, he lines up to start next weekend in Texas.

Velasquez (2-2) gave up one run on three hits and two walks while striking out two in five innings Friday against the Red Sox. He picked up the win.

He didn't miss many bats in this one, but Velasquez cut his season ERA to 3.97 and still has a respectable 21 strikeouts in 22.2 innings. Lance Lynn (knee) is still at least a couple weeks away from returning, so Velasquez's spot in the rotation should be secure in the short term. He tentatively lines up to face Cleveland next week.

Irivin, who was placed on the 15-day injured list Thursday, is dealing with shoulder tendonitis, Martin Gallegos of MLB.com reports.

He will reportedly resume throwing in a few days and could return when first eligible in mid-May. Zach Logue replaced him in the rotation Friday against the Twins.

Gray (hamstring) could be activated to start Saturday against the A's, Dan Hayes of The Athletic reports.

He was originally going to make a rehab start for Triple-A St. Paul on Saturday, but now it's looking like he could make that start in the majors with Chris Paddack getting pushed to Sunday. Gray threw three scoreless innings with five strikeouts and no walks Sunday for Single-A Fort Myers.

Whitlock's role in the rotation remains safe for now with Rich Hill heading to the COVID-19 injured list, Alex Speier of The Boston Globe reports.

After opening the year by allowing one run on four hits in 9.2 innings of relief work, Whitlock stepped into the rotation for a trio of successful starts. He's only averaged four innings across those starts, though he reached a season-high five in his latest outing Wednesday against the Angels. Whitlock's 1.25 ERA and 29:4 K:BB on the year will make it tough for Boston to send him back to the bullpen, though workload concerns could still cause such a move at some point given that he worked exclusively in relief last season.
