Guardians' Aaron Civale: Dealing with cramp

Civale exited Friday's game against the Tigers due to a left glute cramp, Chris McCosky of The Detroit News reports.

Civale tweaked his glute while covering first base in the top of the seventh inning Friday, and he was immediately removed from the game. The right-hander will presumably be monitored by the team's medical staff in the coming days, but his initial diagnosis of a cramp is somewhat encouraging. If Civale is cleared to make his next turn through the rotation, he tentatively lines up to start on the road against Houston on Wednesday.

Guardians' Aaron Civale: Exits with apparent injury

Civale was removed from Friday's game against the Tigers in the top of the seventh inning due to an apparent leg injury, Chris McCosky of The Detroit News reports.

Civale gave up at least four runs in each of his first six starts this season, but he was much more effective in Friday's outing. He allowed an unearned run on three hits and a walk while striking out three in 6.1 innings but appeared to tweak something in his leg while covering first base in the top of the seventh. It's not yet clear whether the injury will force Civale to miss additional time.

  • Tarik Skubal SP | LAD

Tigers' Tarik Skubal: Exits with apparent leg injury

Skubal was removed from Friday's game against Cleveland after taking a liner off his leg, Cody Stavenhagen of The Athletic reports.

Skubal was able to limp off the field after being hit by a comebacker to end the fifth inning, but he went to the clubhouse with a trainer and was replaced in the bottom of the sixth. Prior to his departure, the southpaw allowed four hits and no walks while striking out five in five scoreless innings. The nature and severity of his injury aren't yet clear, and whether he's forced to miss time remains to be seen.

  • Astros' Jake Odorizzi: Begins throwing Friday

Odorizzi (lower leg) played catch Friday, Danielle Lerner of the Houston Chronicle reports.

Odorizzi was taken off the field on a stretcher Monday against Boston, and he underwent an MRI recently that revealed some strains and sprains to the ligaments of his right foot/ankle. While the right-hander is still in the early stages of his recovery and doesn't yet have a timetable to return, it's encouraging that he's already been cleared to throw.

  • Tigers' Eduardo Rodriguez: Still needs IL stint

Rodriguez got good news from an MRI on Friday, as the test showed no damage to his oblique, but he's still expected to hit the injured list, Chris McCosky of The Detroit News reports.

Rodriguez left his start Wednesday against the Rays in the first inning with an injury which was originally called side discomfort. While he's apparently avoided a serious issue, he'll still miss at least two turns in the rotation and won't be back until early June. With Matt Manning (shoulder), Casey Mize (elbow), Tyler Alexander (elbow) and Michael Pineda (finger) all on the shelf as well, the Tigers will have to dig deep into their depth rotation options for at least the next couple weeks.

  • Red Sox's Connor Seabold: Managing pectoral issue

Seabold was scratched from Friday's start for Triple-A Worcester due to a pectoral injury, Christopher Smith of The Springfield Republican reports.

It's not believed to be serious injury, but it will still cost him at least one turn through the rotation. Seabold has started strong for Worcester this season and has a 2.45 ERA, 0.94 WHIP and 37:10 K:BB across 36.2 innings.

  • Luis Gil SP | NYY

Yankees' Luis Gil: Contending with major injury

Manager Aaron Boone said Gil (elbow) is dealing with a "significant" injury, Meredith Marakovits of YES Network reports.

The right-hander was removed from Wednesday's start with Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre with an apparent elbow injury, and he'll apparently be sidelined for the foreseeable future. The specifics of the injury remain unclear, but Gil's availability for the rest of the season is now in queston.

  • Matt Manning SP | PHI

Tigers' Matt Manning: Slated to make another rehab start

Manning (shoulder/illness) will make another rehab start at Triple-A Toledo, Cody Stavenhagen of The Athletic reports.

Manning was removed from Thursday's rehab start since he was experiencing lightheadedness, and manager A.J. Hinch said Friday that the right-hander's removal wasn't related to his arm. However, Manning will make another appearance in the minors after his last outing was cut short. While he'll miss another turn through the rotation, he should be in the mix to return in late May.

  • Dallas Keuchel SP | MIL

White Sox's Dallas Keuchel: Friday's start postponed

Keuchel's scheduled start Friday against the Yankees was postponed due to inclement weather.

The game will be made up as part of a doubleheader Sunday. Keuchel will start Saturday's contest, with Johnny Cueto and Michael Kopech handling the twin bill.

  • Nestor Cortes SP | PHI

Yankees' Nestor Cortes: Scheduled start postponed

Cortes won't start Friday against the White Sox as planned, as the game has been postponed due to inclement weather.

The game will be made up as part of a doubleheader Sunday. Cortes will start Saturday's game, Lindsey Adler of The Athletic reports.
