Gilbert (7-2) allowed four hits and a walk with six strikeouts in six shutout innings, earning the win Tuesday over the Twins.

It was a low-scoring battle early on, but Gilbert got the support he needed with two-run home runs from Eugenio Suarez and Ty France. This was Gilbert's sixth straight quality start after achieving the feat just once in his first seven outings. It's also the fourth time the right-hander has kept runs off the board. He's now at a 2.22 ERA, 1.06 WHIP and 76:23 K:BB across 77 innings overall. The 25-year-old projects for a home start versus the Angels this weekend.

Ryan (5-3) allowed four runs on five hits and a walk with three strikeouts in 4.2 innings, taking the loss versus the Mariners on Tuesday.

Ryan threw 74 pitches (45 strikes) in the outing, but two-run home runs by Eugenio Suarez and Ty France were enough to sink him. The Twins provided virtually no support with just four hits (all singles) and two walks in the contest. Ryan has allowed more than two runs in just two of his nine starts this season, so it's safe to assume he was a bit rusty after a bout with COVID-19. He has a 2.81 ERA, 1.02 WHIP and 45:15 K:BB across 48 innings this season, and he'll look to correct course next week at home versus the Guardians.

Bubic (0-4) allowed three runs on five hits and two walks with six strikeouts in 5.1 innings, taking the loss Tuesday versus the Giants.

Bubic gave up just one hit and both walks in his first five innings, but the Giants put four of their first five batters on base with hits in the sixth. The southpaw was responsible for all three runs scored, and the Royals couldn't get him off the hook. The 24-year-old still has an unsightly 8.36 ERA, 1.89 WHIP and 24:18 K:BB across 28 innings in nine appearances (eight starts). With Zack Greinke (elbow) expected back as soon as Friday, there's not likely to be room in the rotation for Bubic going forward.

Cease (5-3) earned the win Tuesday in Detroit, allowing one unearned run on seven hits and one walk over five innings. He struck out eight.

Cease was inefficient once again, needing 108 pitches to record 15 outs, but it was enough for the right-hander to get back in the win column for the first time in nearly a month. Amazingly, all 10 runs scored against Cease in his last four starts have been unearned. He's been walking a fine line with 15 walks in that span (21.1 innings).

Cole (6-1) earned the victory Tuesday over Tampa Bay, striking out seven across six scoreless innings while allowing five hits and a walk.

Cole bounced back from last week's five-homer barrage by shutting down the Rays. He loaded the bases in the sixth but was able to pitch out of trouble by inducing a double-play ball. It was the sixth time in 12 starts that he allowed one run or fewer while pitching at least six innings. The 31-year-old has a 3.33 ERA, 1.07 WHIP and 91:18 K:BB in 73 innings, very similar to his 2021 numbers.

Kluber (3-3) took the loss Tuesday against the Yankees, allowing two unearned runs on four hits, a hit batsman and a walk while striking out three in six innings.

Kluber held the Yankees hitless through the first three innings but two Tampa Bay errors led to his unearned runs in the fourth inning. The veteran has had two strong outings against the Yankees this season, allowing just one earned run in 12 innings. Over his last six starts the 36-year-old has a 2.53 ERA and a 27:4 K:BB in 32 innings.

Wentz isn't dealing with anything worse than a stinger in his shoulder and should resume throwing soon, Jason Beck of MLB.com reports.

Wentz left his May 31 start against the Twins with what was originally called a strained left shoulder, but it looks as though the injury isn't as bad as originally feared. He still has work to do before he's able to return to game action, but the result could have been much worse for the Tigers.

Crawford is scheduled to make his next start with Red Sox on Saturday against the Cardinals in Boston, Ian Browne of MLB.com reports.

After striking out seven while blanking the Mariners over five innings in his spot start in Seattle last weekend, Crawford will draw the third start of his big-league career Saturday. He may not stick in the Boston rotation beyond Saturday's game, however, as starters Garrett Whitlock (hip) and Nathan Eovaldi (back) could both be on track to return from the 15-day injured list in the latter half of next week.

Whitlock is doing well in his recovery from right hip inflammation and may miss the minimum 15 days, Jen McCaffrey of The Athletic reports.

Whitlock hit the injured list Friday, leaving him eligible to return June 24. It sounds like he'll have a chance to be activated when first eligible, though Nathan Eovaldi (back) will also be eligible to return that day, and it's possible one of them waits an additional day.

Eovaldi (back) may not miss more than the minimum 15 days on the injured list, Jen McCaffrey of The Athletic reports.

Eovaldi hit the injured list Sunday with an injury that has been referred to both as hip tightness and lower-back inflammation. The move was backdated to Thursday, leaving him eligible to return June 24, and it appears as though he has the chance to make that date. Kutter Crawford entered the rotation in Eovaldi's absence.
