Cortes (6-3) gave up four earned runs on six hits while striking out three over 4.1 innings to take his third loss of the season in a 5-4 defeat to the Rays on Tuesday.

The Rays took Cortes deep for three solo shots and chased him from the game in the fifth inning after only 63 pitches. Cortes was responsible for a runner on base who came in to score when Isaac Paredes hit his third home run of the game off Clarke Schmidt later that inning. Cortes entered the season as a late-round sleeper pick and has far exceeded his ADP so far in 2022. Even with Tuesday's loss, Cortes boasts a 2.31 ERA, which is tied for fourth in the majors, along with a 0.96 WHIP. Look for Cortes to start Sunday at home against the Astros.

Hill (3-4) picked up the win Tuesday, giving up three runs on seven hits and two walks over five innings in a 5-4 victory over the Tigers. He struck out six.

The 42-year-old southpaw wasn't efficient, needing 90 pitches (57 strikes) to complete the minimum number of frames necessary to qualify for a win, but Hill got just enough run support to be rewarded for his efforts. He continues to give the Red Sox solid outings even if he does make the bullpen work a little harder, posting a 3.86 ERA, 1.24 WHIP and 21:4 K:BB through 21 innings over four starts in June.

Lyles (4-6) took the loss Tuesday as the Orioles fell 3-0 to the Nationals, allowing two runs on five hits and three walks over 6.1 innings. He struck out four.

The veteran right-hander has his outing bumped from Sunday due to a stomach bug, but Lyles didn't look under the weather as he recorded his fifth quality start of the year on 92 pitches (54 strikes). His control continues to limit him, however, as he's walked multiple batters in all four of his June starts, leaving him with a 6.65 ERA, 1.71 WHIP and 15:10 K:BB through 21.2 innings on the month.

Detmers allowed five runs on five hits and two walks with six strikeouts in five innings in a no-decision versus the Royals on Tuesday.

Detmers gave up runs in three of the five innings he worked, but the Angels' offense was able to bail him out later in the contest. It was the first time he's completed five innings since May 25. The southpaw is still struggling a bit with a 4.66 ERA, 1.10 WHIP and 44:21 K:BB across 58 innings in 12 starts this year. As long as the Angels stick with a six-man rotation, Detmers will likely continue to draw starts. He's tentatively projected for a home start versus the White Sox next week.

Kaprielian (0-5) allowed two runs on five hits and two walks with seven strikeouts in 5.1 innings, taking the loss Tuesday versus the Mariners.

Kaprielian was responsible for a Taylor Trammell solo home run in the third inning and Jesse Winker's RBI double in the sixth. Despite the hard contact, this was up there with the more efficient of Kaprielian's 10 starts this season, and the seven strikeouts matched a season high. He's still struggling a bit with a 5.98 ERA, 1.48 WHIP and 34:21 K:BB through 46.2 innings overall. He's expected to draw a favorable road start versus the Royals this weekend.

Gonzales (4-7) allowed two runs on seven hits and a walk while striking out two in seven innings to earn the win Tuesday over the Athletics.

Gonzales received ample support from the Mariners' offense, which provided four home runs. The southpaw's one mistake was a two-run homer to Nick Allen in the seventh inning. With quality starts in six of his last eight outings, Gonzales has provided steady pitching for the Mariners. He has a 3.33 ERA, 1.30 WHIP and 42:27 K:BB across 75.2 innings overall. He's projected for a road start versus the Angels this weekend.

Gausman struck out seven in six innings while allowing two runs on seven hits and two walks. He did not factor into the decision in a 7-6 loss Tuesday against the White Sox.

After retiring the side in order in the first, Gausman gave up back-to-back doubles in the second to allow a run. In the fifth, he gave up another run-scoring double and ultimately left the game in position to take the loss. The 31-year-old has struggled to keep opponents off base recently, allowing 43 baserunners in his last 23 innings. His next start will likely be early next week against Boston.

Cease struck out 11 in six scoreless innings while allowing a hit and two walks and did not factor into the decision in a 7-6 win Tuesday against Toronto.

Cease baffled the Toronto lineup, striking out 11 of the 20 batters he faced. He left the game with a 2-0 lead but Chicago's bullpen blew the save and his opportunity to earn his sixth victory. The 26-year-old did not allow an earned run for the fifth straight start, although 10 unearned runs have scored against him in that span. It was the third time this season that he fanned 11 opponents in a game.

Urquidy (6-3) earned the win Tuesday over the Mets. He allowed a run on four hits and a walk with five strikeouts in six innings.

Urquidy didn't allow a run until the sixth inning, which came via a Pete Alonso solo home run. This was Urquidy's fourth quality start in his last six outings. He's still giving up a homer per start, having now allowed 13 long balls across 67.1 innings this season. The right-hander has a 4.68 ERA, 1.46 WHIP and 52:13 K:BB in 13 starts, and he lines up for a tough road start versus the Yankees this weekend.

Perez (5-2) earned the victory Tuesday over Philadelphia, striking out six in six scoreless innings while allowing six hits and three walks.

While Perez held the Phillies scoreless, he was pitching around trouble all night. The lefty allowed baserunners in every inning but limited the offense to singles and walks. It was the 10th time in 13 starts that he allowed one earned run or fewer while pitching at least six innings. His next start will likely be early next week in Kansas City.
