Waldichuk allowed one earned run on five hits and four walks while striking out six across 4.2 innings Thursday against the Nationals. He did not factor into the decision.

Waldichuk showed promise in his big-league debut, racking up six strikeouts on the strength of 15 swinging strikes across 93 total pitches. He also showed some struggles with control, which isn't particularly surprising given he had a 3.4 BB/9 across 95 innings between Double-A and Triple-A this season. Overall, it was an encouraging outing for Waldichuk, and he should have the chance to stick in the rotation for the remainder of the campaign.

Cueto (7-6) allowed one earned run on six hits and no walks while striking out five across 5.1 innings to earn the win Thursday against the Royals.

Cueto held the Royals in check, and his only earned run came in the third inning, when he allowed consecutive singles to open the frame. It was a bounceback effort for Cueto -- he allowed seven earned runs his last time out -- and he has now allowed two or fewer earned runs in eight of his last 11 starts. Cueto has turned in a vintage season, maintaining a 2.93 ERA with an 82:27 K:BB across 129 frames.

Rodriguez (3-4) allowed six runs (five earned) on six hits and two walks while striking out five across four innings to take the loss Thursday against Seattle.

Rodriguez allowed at least one earned run in three of his four innings. He served up back-to-back homers to begin the second frame and then proceeded to allow four hits -- leading to three more runs -- in the fourth inning. Entering Thursday's start, Rodriguez had allowed only one earned run across 11 innings since rejoining the active roster Aug. 21. For the season, he owns a 4.17 ERA with a 46:25 K:BB across 54 innings.

Gilbert (11-5) allowed two hits and one walk while striking out nine across six scoreless innings to earn the win Thursday against the Tigers.

Gilbert turned in arguably his best start of the season and tallied nine strikeouts in an outing for the first time since May 17. He racked up 17 swinging strikes on 84 total pitches to back the result, and he has now allowed two or fewer earned runs in three consecutive outings. For the season, he owns a 3.35 ERA with a 142:42 K:BB.

Bradish (3-5) earned the win Thursday, allowing zero runs on two hits and three walks over seven innings in a 3-0 victory over the Guardians. He struck out five.

Bradish did not allow an extra-base hit in seven phenomenal shut-down innings. The 25-year-old rookie has been improving over his last seven starts with a 2.66 ERA in 40.2 innings. In addition, the righty has recorded back-to-back starts pitching seven innings or more without allowing a run.

Bieber (8-8) took the loss Thursday, allowing three runs on six hits and one walk over seven innings against the Orioles. He struck out 11.

Bieber allowed two first-inning solo homers -- one from Cedric Mullins to lead off the game and another from Anthony Santander with one out -- before giving up a third solo shot in the fourth inning to Ryan Mountcastle. The righty has now recorded seven straight quality starts, pitching seven innings in five of those outing. Despite the barrage of deep balls Thursday, the 27-year-old has not allowed a home run in eight of his last 11 appearances.

Rodriguez (lat) threw 1.1 scoreless innings while walking two and striking out one in a rehab outing with High-A Aberdeen on Thursday, Nathan Ruiz of The Baltimore Sun reports.

Rodriguez appeared in game action for the first time since June 1, so it makes sense that he wasn't pushed in terms of workload. However, he was spotted throwing in the bullpen after the outing to continue to build up his pitch count. It's unclear what Baltimore has planned for Rodriguez, though it's possible he makes his big-league debut as a reliever so long as the team remains in wild-card contention.

Brown had his contract selected by the Astros on Thursday.

The 24-year-old has a 2.55 ERA, 1.08 WHIP and 134:45 K:BB over 106 innings with Triple-A Sugar Land this year and will now receive his first taste of the big leagues. Brown has primarily worked as a starter in the minors but is likely to fill a multi-inning role out of the bullpen for Houston down the stretch.

Wells (oblique) will begin a rehab assignment at High-A Aberdeen on Friday, Zachary Silver of MLB.com reports.

Wells threw a 30-pitch bullpen session Tuesday and will face hitters in a rehab appearance to close out the week. The Orioles haven't yet decided whether the right-hander will return as a starter or reliever, but he's closing in on his return from the IL regardless of what role he'll ultimately fills once activated.

Eovaldi (shoulder) threw recently but isn't progressing as quickly as the team had hoped, Jen McCaffrey of The Athletic reports.

Eovaldi threw a bullpen session Monday and was expected to face hitters soon, but the Red Sox seem to be slowing his rehab process due to his lack of progress in recent days. It's not yet clear when the right-hander will ultimately be able to face hitters, but it's still possible that he rejoins Boston's rotation at some point in September.
