Waldichuk allowed five runs on eight hits and a walk with six strikeouts in five innings in a no-decision versus the Rangers on Tuesday.

Waldichuk's start was bookended by trouble -- he allowed two runs in the first inning and three more in the fifth. Still, he left in line for the win, but the Athletics' bullpen couldn't maintain the lead, denying Waldichuk his first major-league win. This was the worst of his first three starts, and it's a little concerning he struggled against an inferior opponent. The 24-year-old southpaw has a 5.40 ERA, 1.40 WHIP and 14:5 K:BB through 15 innings. He's tentatively projected for a difficult road start in Houston this weekend.

Cole did not factor into the decision Tuesday, allowing four runs on four hits and two walks over six innings against the Red Sox. He struck out 10.

Boston tagged Cole for three long balls Tuesday to prevent him from recording the quality start, though Cole threw at least six innings for the 17th consecutive start. Homers are becoming something of an issue for the Yankees' ace, as he has allowed at least one home run in each of his last four starts. He will take a 3.30 ERA into his next start, tentatively scheduled against Milwaukee this weekend.

Ragans took a no-decision Tuesday versus the Athletics, allowing seven runs on eight hits and a walk while striking out five in four innings.

Ragans got a bit more stretched out, throwing 70 pitches (48 strikes) in his second start back from a calf injury. He's had trouble with Oakland through his first two starts versus the Rangers' divisional rivals, allowing 10 runs across nine innings. The 24-year-old southpaw is clearly still adjusting to the majors with a 5.68 ERA and 1.58 WHIP through 25.1 innings, though he was able to walk just one batter for the second time in six starts. He's projected for a home start versus the Angels next week.

Chirinos was optioned to Triple-A Durham after he pitched four scoreless innings and took a no-decision in Game 2 of Tuesday's doubleheader against the Blue Jays. He allowed three hits and had two strikeouts and zero walks.

The 29-year-old was called up at the 29th man for Tuesday's twin bill, so it's no surprise he's headed back to Triple-A after the spot start. Chirinos has made only two appearances for Tampa Bay this year, but he's pitched well with a 6:1 K:BB across seven scoreless frames.

Kremer (7-5) earned the win Tuesday, allowing three runs on eight hits and one walk over five innings against the Nationals. He struck out one.

Kremer picked up his seventh win despite allowing eight hits and recording just one punchout through five innings. The 26-year-old has been the recipient of favorable run support recently as he has just four quality starts in his last eight starts since the beginning of August, but he is 4-2 in that stretch. His 4.15 xFIP and 4.44 xERA entering Tuesday both suggest that he is overperforming with a 3.34 ERA. He tentatively lines up to face Detroit next week.

Ryan (11-8) pitched seven no-hit innings to earn the win over the Royals on Tuesday. He allowed two walks and struck out nine without allowing a run.

Ryan was nearly untouchable during his time on the mound. He threw 72 of 106 pitches for strikes while inducing 13 whiffs. The high pitch count prevented him from going for a place in history, and reliever Jovani Moran lost the combined no-hit bid in an ugly ninth inning. Tuesday marked the third time in 24 starts Ryan's gone at least seven innings. It was his fourth scoreless outing of the year, lowering his ERA to 3.83 with a 1.11 WHIP and 133:41 K:BB through 129.1 innings. The 26-year-old righty is tentatively scheduled to start a key divisional matchup in Cleveland this weekend.

Bubic (2-12) took the loss Tuesday versus the Twins. He allowed five runs on 10 hits and a walk while striking out six over five innings.

Bubic wasn't very good, but the Royals didn't record a hit until the ninth inning, so he was never going to get enough support. Carlos Correa and Jose Miranda combined to produce all five runs against Bubic in the contest, which was the southpaw's sixth consecutive loss. He's given up at least four runs in four of those outings and now has a 5.55 ERA, 1.66 WHIP and 94:55 K:BB through 116.2 innings across 25 outings (24 starts). Bubic tentatively lines up for a road start in Boston this weekend.

Brown (2-0) earned the victory Tuesday in Detroit, striking out six in six innings while allowing two runs on five hits and two walks.

Brown followed his stellar big-league debut with another strong start, inducing two double-play groundballs and retiring 10 of the last 11 batters he faced on the way to his second victory. After making just four starts of six innings or more in his 14 minor-league starts, he's tossed six innings in each of his first two big-league outings. With Justin Verlander (calf) hoping to return to the rotation this weekend, Brown's next appearance may come in relief.

Suarez (6-7) took the loss Tuesday in Cleveland, allowing three runs on nine hits while striking out three in 5.1 innings.

Suarez scattered three singles over the first four innings while holding the Guardians scoreless. Cleveland got on the board in the fifth with a sacrifice fly and Oscar Gonzalez launched a two-run homer in the sixth. Suarez faded towards the end of the outing and allowed six of the last 10 batters he faced to record a hit. Tuesday's outing was fairly representative of the 24-year-old's season as he's compiled a 3.20 ERA in the first four innings of outings and a 6.00 ERA in the fifth inning or later. His next start will likely be early next week in Texas.

Civale (forearm) is targeting a Sept. 20 return against the White Sox, Zack Meisel of The Athletic reports.

He hasn't pitched since Aug. 28 due to forearm inflammation, but it sounds like Civale could still make a handful of starts before the end of the season. If he did return Sept. 20, he could make two starts that week if the Guardians are operating with a five-man rotation.
