Baz (elbow) underwent successful Tommy John surgery in Dallas on Wednesday, Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times reports.

As anticipated, Baz's surgery involved nothing more complex than the traditional UCL repair, but the timeline associated with the procedure means that Baz will be sidelined through the 2023 season. He could be ready to resume facing hitters by the second half of next season, which should put him on track to enter 2024 spring training at full health and ready to reclaim a spot in the Tampa Bay rotation. Baz made just six starts this season due to right elbow issues that weren't permanently resolved by the arthroscopic procedure he underwent in late March.

Crawford (shoulder) threw a two-inning simulated game Wednesday, Jen McCaffrey of The Athletic reports.

Though the Red Sox have already ruled out Crawford from returning in 2022, he looks like he'll be in store for a normal offseason now that he's facing hitters. The 26-year-old righty should get the opportunity to compete for a rotation spot next spring after turning in a 5.47 ERA, 1.42 WHIP and 77:29 K:BB across 77.1 innings during his rookie campaign.

Berrios (11-7) took the loss Tuesday, coughing up five runs on nine hits and two walks over 5.1 innings as the Blue Jays were downed 5-2 by the Yankees. He struck out seven.

The seven Ks were his highest total since he fanned nine Yankees on Aug. 18, but that was the only silver lining to Berrios' performance. The right-hander had a run of three straight quality starts to begin September but has stumbled since, giving up 11 runs in his last two outings. His 5.37 ERA and 1.43 WHIP through 166 innings on the year remain very disappointing, considering he hadn't posted an ERA above 4.00 for a season since his 58.1-inning big-league debut in 2016.

Taillon (14-5) picked up the win in Tuesday's 5-2 victory over the Blue Jays, giving up two runs on seven hits over 7.1 innings. He struck out six without walking a batter.

George Springer led off the game for the Jays with a solo shot, but Taillon buckled down after that and didn't even allow a runner to get into scoring position until the sixth inning. He fired 62 of 94 pitches for strikes en route to his second straight quality start and his seventh in 12 outings since the All-Star break, a stretch during which he sports a 3.69 ERA, 1.04 WHIP and 62:15 K:BB through 68.1 innings.

Glasnow (elbow) was reinstated from the 60-day injured list ahead of Wednesday's start in Cleveland, Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times reports.

Glasnow will make his season debut Wednesday after recovering from Tommy John surgery, but he'll be limited to approximately 45 pitches during his start against the Guardians. However, if all goes well, he should be able to make one more start next week and serve as an option to pitch during the postseason.

The Red Sox list Eovaldi (shoulder) as their scheduled starting pitcher for Thursday's game against the Orioles at Fenway Park.

Boston will likely wait until Thursday to officially reinstate Eovaldi from the 15-day injured list, where he's resided since Aug. 23 due to right shoulder inflammation. The 32-year-old is rejoining the Boston rotation after completing a three-inning rehab start at Triple-A Worcester last weekend, so he'll likely be on a more limited pitch count than usual when he takes the mound Thursday. After his start against the Orioles, Eovaldi should line up for one more outing in 2022 next week before he hits free agency this winter.

Kaprielian did not factor into the decision Tuesday, allowing three runs on 10 hits and no walks with five strikeouts over six innings in a 4-3 loss against the Angels.

Despite allowing 10 hits on the night, Kaprielian was able to limit the damage to just three runs allowed in the second inning. The 10 hits he surrendered are the most he has conceded all season, but he did not walk a batter for just the third time on the campaign, signaling he may have found too much of the plate Tuesday. The quality start was his third in a row and sixth on the season. He likely next lines up to face Seattle this weekend.

Sandoval did not factor into the decision Tuesday, allowing three runs on six hits and two walks over 5.1 innings against Oakland. He struck out four.

Sandoval was mostly effective Tuesday but had trouble in the second inning, needing 29 pitches to finish the inning and allowing all three runs he would surrender on the night to score. He may have been able to record the quality start but was pulled with 94 pitches in favor of a R/R matchup after recording a strikeout to begin the sixth inning. The southpaw has now failed to record a quality start in each of his last four outings after recording three straight prior. He still owns a strong 3.09 ERA on the season and tentatively next faces Oakland again next week.

Ray (12-11) took the loss during Tuesday's 5-0 defeat at the hands of the Rangers, allowing two runs on six hits and two walks with eight strikeouts in 5.2 innings.

Ray served up a Josh Jung solo shot in the second inning and another run in the sixth before departing with two outs and the bases loaded, but reliever Penn Murfee was able to induce a groundout to end the frame. The two earned runs were enough for the loss as Seattle failed to score, and the 30-year-old has now lost three of four starts while pitching to a 4.57 ERA across 21.2 innings during the stretch. He carries a 3.58 ERA and 1.17 WHIP into his next start, tentatively scheduled to come Sunday against Oakland.

Wacha tossed 3.1 innings, giving up six runs on eight hits while striking out three in Tuesday's 13-9 win over the Orioles. He did not factor into the decision.

Wacha struggled to keep the Orioles off the bases Tuesday, surrendering eight runs and three homers, both of which were season highs. The blowup ended a five-game streak of quality starts for the 31-year-old and raised his ERA from 2.70 to 3.06 on the season. He'll look to return to form in his final start of the 2022 campaign, which is tentatively set to come Sunday versus the Blue Jays.
