The Tigers recalled Olson from Triple-A Toledo on Friday ahead of his start against the White Sox.

Olson will enter the Tigers' rotation in place of the injured Eduardo Rodriguez (finger). The 23-year-old righty doesn't have great stats in Triple-A this season, but he's been able to put it together as of late. Over his last three starts with Toledo, he's allowed two runs in 14.1 innings while maintaining a 22:6 K:BB. Olson collects strikeouts at an impressive rate, but his inability to work deep into games limits his fantasy value.

Woo is set to be called up and draw the start Saturday versus the Rangers, Ryan Divish of The Seattle Times reports.

With Marco Gonzales (forearm) being skipped in the rotation, Woo will jump straight from Double-A Arkansas to the big leagues. The 23-year-old has compiled an impressive 2.05 ERA and 0.89 WHIP with 59 strikeouts over 44 innings in nine starts with Arkansas this season. Woo was selected in the sixth round of 2021 MLB Draft and he'll join 2021 fourth-rounder Bryce Miller in making his major-league debut for Seattle in 2023.

Sale was placed on the 15-day injured list Friday with left shoulder inflammation, Tom Caron of NESN reports.

Red Sox manager Alex Cora confirmed the news of the IL stint on NESN's pregame coverage while expressing hope that it's only a "minor" issue. Sale was pulled from his start Thursday night against the Reds after feeling discomfort in his left shoulder in the top of the fourth inning. He underwent both an MRI and CT scan Friday, the results of which are still being evaluated. It could be a situation where Sale winds up seeking multiple opinions before an official diagnosis is presented. Corey Kluber is back from paternity leave and will presumably take over the vacant spot in Boston's rotation.

Gonzales will undergo testing on his forearm and have his start skipped Saturday versus the Rangers, Ryan Divish of The Seattle Times reports.

Gonzales felt some discomfort in his left forearm after his outing Sunday against the Pirates and will now reportedly be replaced on the mound Saturday by Bryan Woo, who's set to be called up from Double-A Arkansas for the start. Once the results of the testing on his forearm come to fruition, it's possible that Gonzales could be set for a stint on the injured list.

Quantrill was placed on the 15-day injured list Friday with right shoulder inflammation, Zack Meisel of The Athletic reports.

Quantrill has been struggling mightily on the mound recently, surrendering 14 runs through 8.1 innings across his last two starts. A trip to the IL will ensure that he feels 100 percent ahead of his next start and could help him return to his usual self. Aaron Civale (oblique) was reinstated from the 15-day injured list Friday and will take Quantrill's spot in Cleveland's rotation.

The Guardians activated Civale (oblique) from the 15-day injured list Friday, Zack Meisel of The Athletic reports.

A left oblique strain forced Civale to the injured list April 10, but the 27-year-old righty is ready to return after making three rehab starts at Triple-A. Civale recorded a 4.91 ERA and 1.55 WHIP through 11 innings during his rehab assignment, so there could still be some rust to knock off, but his 16:4 K:BB offers reason for optimism. Cal Quantrill (shoulder) was placed on the 15-day IL to make room for Civale on the active roster.

Whitley (lat) is expected to miss 3-to-4 months, Chandler Rome of The Athletic reports.

Whitley was placed on the injured list last week at Triple-A Sugar Land after suffering a right lat strain, and now the Astros have provided an estimated recovery timeline for the oft-injured 25-year-old former top prospect. It's possible Whitley won't pitch again this season if his recovery extends into September.

Kluber was activated Friday from the paternity list, Alex Speier of The Boston Globe reports.

Kluber has returned to the Red Sox and is likely to get a start in one half of Saturday's doubleheader against the Rays. He was moved to the bullpen last week but did not make a relief appearance prior to being excused from the team. It's a little uncertain what the season-long plan will be for the veteran right-hander, though his fantasy appeal figures to remain quite low no matter his role.

Clevinger (wrist) was activated from the 15-day injured list and will start Friday versus Detroit, James Fegan of The Athletic reports.

As expected, Clevinger will make his return to the mound Friday, making his first start since he was placed on the 15-day IL with right wrist inflammation May 21. The 32-year-old had recorded back-to-back quality starts prior to going down, surrendering five runs on nine hits and six walks while striking out seven batters over 12 innings in those outings. Overall, Clevinger owns a 4.56 ERA and 1.46 WHIP with a 7.6 K/9 over 47.1 innings in nine starts this season.

Gambrell has a 1.62 ERA over three starts since being promoted to Double-A Portland.

The right-hander opened the season at High-A Greenville, where he had a 4.88 ERA over six starts, but he has posted better results since ascending to Portland on May 18. One of the players acquired in the Andrew Benintendi trade, Gambrell is coming back from a lost 2022 season, when he underwent multiple surgeries to remove a benign tumor from his heel bone, Christopher Smith of MassLive.com reports -- an issue that began bothering him back in 2020, pre-pandemic. Gambrell credits changing his primary fastball from a four-seamer to a two-seamer for his recent success.
