The White Sox acquired Bush along with catcher Edgar Quero from the Angels on Wednesday in exchange for right-handers Lucas Giolito and Reynaldo Lopez, Jeff Passan of ESPN.com reports.

Bush missed the first few months of the season at Double-A Rocket City with an oblique strain and has put up a 5.88 ERA and 1.42 WHIP through 26 innings across six starts since returning. Though his stats don't jump off the page on first glance, he's allowed just three runs over his last three starts (14.2 IP) and has demonstrated an ability to strike batters out at a solid rate. If he continues at his current rate, there's a chance the 23-year-old southpaw makes his MLB debut before the end of next season.

Valdez (8-7) allowed six runs on eight hits and two walks while striking out only one over 3.2 innings to take the loss Wednesday versus the Rangers.

The six runs were a new season high for Valdez, who has given up at least four runs in four of his last five outings. He also surrendered multiple home runs for the third time this season, including twice in his last three starts. The struggling southpaw is now at a 3.29 ERA, 1.14 WHIP and 134:32 K:BB through 126 innings over 20 starts. Valdez is lined up for a home start versus the Guardians next week.

The White Sox traded Giolito to the Angels on Wednesday along with right-hander Reynaldo Lopez in exchange for catcher Edgar Quero and left-hander Ky Bush, Jeff Passan of ESPN.com reports.

On the heels of a five-inning shutout performance against the Twins this past Sunday, Giolito will join the Angels rotation as the team puts itself firmly in the buyers camp ahead of the trade deadline. The 29-year-old righty holds a 3.79 ERA and 1.22 WHIP through 121 innings this season, though he's seen those numbers trend down over the past month. Giolito was scheduled to pitch Friday for the White Sox, but it's unclear at the moment when he'll make his Angels debut.

Heaney (7-6) allowed three runs on four hits and three walks while striking out three over five innings to earn the win Wednesday over the Astros.

Heaney gave up a three-run home run to Alex Bregman in the first inning before settling down. Over his last six outings, Heaney has given up 21 runs (20 earned) across 29 innings, and that's with a pair of scoreless appearances in the mix. The veteran southpaw is at a 4.62 ERA, 1.35 WHIP and 103:43 K:BB through 101.1 innings over 20 starts this season. He's tentatively projected for a favorable home start versus the White Sox next week.

The Guardians acquired Syndergaard (finger) and cash from the Dodgers on Wednesday in exchange for shortstop Amed Rosario, Ken Rosenthal of The Athletic reports.

Syndergaard has been on the injured list since June while recovering from a blister on his right index finger, but the issue looks to be mostly behind him since he's been able to make a pair of five-inning rehab starts coming out of the All-Star break. The 30-year-old righty holds a 7.16 ERA and 1.45 WHIP through 55.1 innings across 12 starts in the majors this season, and even though Los Angeles' starting depth has been significantly tested, the Dodgers apparently no longer viewed him as a rotation option. Syndergaard will join a Cleveland squad that has similarly had its depth tested, but he should at least have a path to the No. 5 spot in the rotation in the short term. The Guardians have deployed reliever Xzavion Curry as their nominal fifth starter of late, with Curry being limited to three innings in both of his last two outings.

Eovaldi (rest) is likely to return to the Rangers' rotation Sunday at San Diego, Nathan Han of MLB.com reports.

Eovaldi was skipped on his last turn earlier this week in Houston for rest purposes, but there are no physical concerns behind the slight velocity dip and decreased strikeout rate. The 33-year-old right-hander stands 11-3 with a brilliant 2.69 ERA, 1.01 WHIP and 111:34 K:BB through 123.2 innings (19 starts) overall this season with Texas.

Sandoval will start the second game of Thursday's doubleheader at Detroit, Sam Blum of The Athletic reports.

Sandoval had been scheduled to pitch Wednesday, but the game was postponed due to inclement weather around Comerica Park. Shohei Ohtani is being moved up to pitch the opener of Thursday's twin bill and then Sandoval will handle the nightcap.

The Red Sox will meet Wednesday to discuss which role Houck (face) will fill upon his return, Alex Speier of The Boston Globe reports.

Manager Alex Cora stated that his preference would be to get Houck back sooner in a relief role but also acknowledged the club is in need of rotation help. What role the Red Sox decide on for Houck will determine how he's used on a rehab assignment. Houck has been sidelined since undergoing a procedure in late June to repair facial fractures.

The Red Sox will discuss Wednesday which role Whitlock (elbow) fills upon his return, Alex Speier of The Boston Globe reports.

Manager Alex Cora said he would prefer to have Whitlock back "as soon as possible," which would point to a relief role. However, the skipper also pointed out that the team is in need of rotation help. The decision could boil down to what, if any, kind of pitching help the Red Sox acquire at the trade deadline. Whitlock has been out since early July with a bone bruise in his right elbow.

Clevinger (biceps) will be activated from the 15-day injured list to start Saturday's game against the Guardians, Daryl Van Schouwen of the Chicago Sun-Times reports.

Clevinger cleared the final hurdle in his rehab program with a four-inning simulated game Monday and has recovered without any issues. He'll skip a minor-league rehab assignment and rejoin the Chicago rotation right away despite missing more than six weeks of action with right biceps inflammation.
