The Rockies optioned Chivilli to Triple-A Albuquerque on Thursday.

Chivilli had just been recalled Tuesday and did not make an appearance during his most recent stint in the majors. The Rockies will announce a corresponding roster move prior to Friday's game versus the Mets.

Coulombe (forearm) will begin a rehab assignment at Triple-A St. Paul on Friday, Dan Hayes of The Athletic reports.

Coulombe has been on the shelf since mid-May due to a left forearm strain, though he appears to be nearing the final stretch of his recovery. He'll likely only need a few minor-league outings to build back up and could be back in action for Minnesota within the next week. Before hitting the IL, Coulombe had yet to allow a run on the season and turned in an 0.60 WHIP and 19:2 K:BB in 16.2 innings.

The Athletics optioned Sterner to Triple-A Las Vegas on Thursday, Martin Gallegos of MLB.com reports.

Sterner will head to the minors just one day after he made his first MLB start. While serving as an opening pitcher in front of bulk reliever Jeffrey Springs, Sterner took his third loss of the season after giving up a solo home run in his lone inning. The Athletics reinstated T.J. McFarland (groin) from the injured list in a corresponding move.

The Athletics optioned Alvarado to Triple-A Las Vegas on Thursday, Martin Gallegos of MLB.com reports.

Alvarado appeared in two of the first three games of this week's series against the Twins, yielding a run in both outings. He'll return to the bullpen at Las Vegas.

The Athletics activated McFarland (groin) from the 15-day injured list Thursday, Martin Gallegos of MLB.com reports.

He's been out more than three weeks with a groin injury but has been cleared to return following one rehab appearance. McFarland will fill a middle-relief role for the Athletics.

The Athletics reinstated Kelly (suspension) from the ineligible list Thursday, Martin Gallegos of MLB.com reports.

Kelly had been suspended one year for violating the league's gambling policy. The 32-year-old posted a 2.59 ERA and 22:10 K:BB over 31.1 relief innings for the Athletics last season and could end up serving in a middle-relief or setup role now that he's available to the big club again.

The Diamondbacks designated McGough for assignment Thursday.

He will cede his spot on the 40-man roster to left-hander Andrew Saalfrank, who was reinstated after serving a one-year suspension. McGough is likely to go unclaimed off waivers after he submitted a 6.43 ERA, 1.71 WHIP and 6:5 K:BB in seven innings over his seven relief appearances with Arizona before he was optioned to Triple-A Reno on Sunday.

The Diamondbacks reinstated Saalfrank (suspension) from the ineligible list and optioned him to the rookie-level Arizona Complex League on Thursday.

Saalfrank will take back a spot on the Diamondbacks' 40-man roster and will be available to compete again after he served a one-year suspension stemming from violations of MLB's gambling policy. Before he was handed the ban last June, Saalfrank appeared in two games out of the Arizona bullpen but had otherwise pitched exclusively at Triple-A Reno, where he logged a 2.63 ERA, 1.12 WHIP and 28:10 K:BB in 24 innings. Since he wasn't able to pitch in any rehab games while he was suspended, Saalfrank will ease back into action in rookie ball before likely reporting back to Reno within the next few weeks.

Scholtens (elbow) struck out two and allowed three earned runs on five hits and no walks over five innings in a rehab start Wednesday with Triple-A Charlotte.

Scholtens tossed 69 pitches in the outing and appears to be stretched out enough to handle a traditional starter's role, but it's unclear if the White Sox will be keen on including him in the rotation once he's activated from the 60-day injured list. While working his way back from March 1, 2024 Tommy John surgery, Scholtens hasn't looked particularly sharp during his minor-league rehab assignments. Over six starts between Charlotte and High-A Winston-Salem, Scholtens owns a 5.96 ERA, 1.59 WHIP and 15:9 K:BB in 22.2 innings.

Castillo gave up two hits and struck out two in two scoreless innings of relief Wednesday, recording his third hold of the season in a win over the Dodgers.

The 29-year-old was picked up off the scrap heap in May after being designated for assignment by the Diamondbacks, but he's been sharp for the Mets. Castillo has yet to allow an earned run with his new club while posting an 8:3 K:BB in six innings. He's the most reliable lefty in the bullpen right now, and as a result Castillo has collected a hold in three straight appearances as he earns the trust of manager Carlos Mendoza.
