Troy Melton RP | DET
Tigers' Troy Melton: Impressive showing in Game 1 start
Melton allowed one run on two hits and one walk while striking out four over four innings in a no-decision against the Mariners on Saturday in Game 1 of the American League Division Series.
With his top three starters all unavailable for Game 1, manager A.J. Hinch turned to Melton to head up a bullpen game. The right-hander was efficient with his 57 pitches, at one point retiring seven batters in a row before serving up a solo homer to Julio Rodriguez to lead off the bottom of the fourth inning. Seven relievers followed Melton, including Keider Montero, who earned the save in extras and thus set the Tigers up extremely well with Tarik Skubal slated to start Game 2.

Mike Clevinger RP | CHW
Mike Clevinger: Enters open market
Clevinger elected free agency Friday, Jack Ankony of SI.com reports.
The White Sox attempted to use Clevinger out of the bullpen to begin the season -- an experiment that resulted in the 34-year-old allowing five earned runs in just 5.2 innings before being DFA'd in April. He spent the rest of the season in the rotation at Triple-A Charlotte, turning in a 4.20 ERA and 1.34 WHIP across 100.2 frames. He will likely have to settle for a minor-league deal in the offseason in order to land his next gig.

Cole Winn RP | TEX
Rangers' Cole Winn: Tracking toward normal offseason
Rangers general manager Ross Fenstermaker said Friday that Winn (shoulder) is expected to have a normal offseason, Shawn McFarland of The Dallas Morning News reports.
Winn landed on the 15-day injured list during the final week of the regular season with a right rotator cuff strain, but he is expected to be fine after some rest. The 25-year-old collected a 1.51 ERA and 0.96 WHIP over 41.2 innings out of the Rangers' bullpen in 2025.

Trevor Megill RP | MIL
Brewers' Trevor Megill: Good to go for NLDS
Megill (elbow) will be available for the NLDS after bouncing back from his relief outing Sunday versus the Reds with normal soreness, Adam McCalvy of MLB.com reports.
Megill struck out a pair in a 1-2-3 inning against the Reds in what was his first appearance since he landed on the 15-day injured list in late August with a right elbow flexor strain. The 31-year-old Megill notched 30 saves as the Brewers' primary closer this season, and he could return to the ninth-inning role now that he's deemed healthy. However, Abner Uribe also pitched well as the team's closer while Megill was injured, so manager Pat Murphy could consider either pitcher for save chances during the NLDS against the Cubs.

Andrew Kittredge RP | CHC
Cubs' Andrew Kittredge: Records save in postseason win
Kittredge recorded the final two outs to earn the save in Thursday's win over the Padres in Game 3 of the National League Wild Card Series.
Kittredge played a versatile role for the Cubs during their series against the Padres, as he served as the opener in Game 2. One day later, he relieved Brad Keller in the ninth inning with the game-tying run at second base. Kittredge has allowed one earned run across 2.2 innings this postseason.

Dane Dunning RP | ATL
Dane Dunning: Reaches free agency
Dunning elected to become a free agent Thursday, David O'Brien of The Athletic reports.
After being removed from Atlanta's 40-man roster, Dunning has exercised his right to free agency rather than accepting an outright assignment. The 30-year-old swingman has managed just a 5.60 ERA over 15 starts and 23 relief appearances at the big-league level since 2024.

Alexis Diaz RP | ATL
Alexis Diaz: Becomes free agent
Diaz elected to become a free agent Thursday, David O'Brien of The Athletic reports.
Diaz had been booted off Atlanta's 40-man roster, and he will exercise his right to free agency rather than accepting an outright assignment. The former closer held an 8.15 ERA and 1.53 WHIP over 17.2 innings at the big-league level in 2025 and might have to accept a minor-league contract this offseason.

David Bednar RP | NYY
Yankees' David Bednar: Tallies first postseason save
Bednar pitched a perfect ninth inning while striking out two batters to pick up the save during Wednesday's 4-3 win over the Red Sox.
After giving up two hits and a run over two-thirds of an inning in Game 1, Bednar was summoned to handle the ninth for the second time in as many days. He was much more effective this time around, striking out Wilyer Abreu and Jarren Duran before getting Ceddanne Rafaela to fly out to right field to end the game. Bednar posted a 2.19 ERA and 0.93 WHIP in the regular season after joining the Yankees at the trade deadline and figures to be manager Aaron Boone's go-to option in save situations for the remainder of New York's postseason run.

Robert Suarez RP | SD
Padres' Robert Suarez: Secures Game 2 save
Suarez gave up one hit over 1.1 scoreless innings to pick up the save in Wednesday's 3-0 win over the Cubs.
A great catch in right field from Fernando Tatis allowed Suarez to record the final out of the eighth inning on just three pitches. The 34-year-old right-hander then came back out to handle the ninth and gave up a one-out single to Kyle Tucker before inducing a double play from Seiya Suzuki to end the game. Suarez led the National League with 40 saves during the regular season and figures to have a firm grip on the ninth inning as long as the Padres remain in the postseason.

Dane Dunning RP | ATL
Braves' Dane Dunning: Removed from 40-man
Dunning cleared waivers Wednesday and was outrighted to Triple-A Gwinnett.
Dunning pitched 10 innings for Atlanta after joining the organization in July, during which he surrendered 12 earned runs while striking out 11 batters and walking two. The 30-year-old will have the option to elect free agency, though his recent performance may not attract more than a minor-league contract.
