  • Red Sox's Garrett Crochet: Not cleared to throw yet

Crochet (shoulder/lat) has not yet been cleared to resume a throwing program following a scheduled re-evaluation Monday, Tim Healey of The Boston Globe reports.

Red Sox interim manager Chad Tracy said that Crochet's left shoulder and lat are "improving," but not enough that he's ready to throw. Crochet landed on the injured list in late April with left shoulder inflammation and then encountered a setback in early June when he sustained a low-grade left lat strain. The southpaw has been throwing a plyometric ball, but a timetable for his return won't become clearer until he ramps up a throwing program.

  • Will Klein RP | LAD

Dodgers' Will Klein: Working as opener Monday

Klein will serve as the Dodgers' opening pitcher in Monday's game in Minnesota, Fabian Ardaya of The Athletic reports.

He'll draw his second start of the season, but Klein is likely to be limited to an inning or two before left-hander Eric Lauer steps in to work in bulk relief. The 26-year-old righty has emerged as a key high-leverage arm out of the bullpen for the Dodgers this season, notching two wins, one save and 10 holds while pitching to a 2.37 ERA, 1.35 WHIP and 32:12 K:BB in 30.1 innings.

  • Felix Bautista RP | BAL

Orioles' Felix Bautista: Ready for mound work

Bautista (shoulder) will throw a bullpen session Tuesday, Andy Kostka of TheBanner.com reports.

It will be the first time Bautista has throwing off the mound since he underwent right shoulder surgery last August to repair a torn labrum and torn rotator cuff. The Orioles have not ruled out the possibility of Bautista rejoining the bullpen before the end of the season.

  • Emilio Pagan RP | CIN

Reds' Emilio Pagan: Starting rehab assignment Thursday

Pagan (hamstring) will begin a rehab assignment Thursday, Charlie Goldsmith of Fox 19 Now Cincinnati reports.

The Reds haven't disclosed which minor-league affiliate Pagan will join, but Goldsmith relays that the reliever's rehab assignment is expected to be brief. Pagan has been sidelined since early May with a Grade 2 left hamstring strain. Tony Santillan has pitched well lately as the Reds' closer, but Pagan should eventually reclaim his old gig once he's activated from the 15-day injured list.

  • Logan VanWey RP | HOU

Astros' Logan VanWey: Rejoins big-league bullpen

The Astros recalled VanWey from Triple-A Sugar Land on Monday.

VanWey has retired nine of 10 batters faced in the big leagues this season, striking out five over three scoreless innings. He'll handle a low-leverage role out of the bullpen while he's up with Houston.

  • Bryan Abreu RP | HOU

Astros' Bryan Abreu: Placed on restricted list

The Astros placed Abreu on the restricted list Monday.

Manager Joe Espada said Monday that Abreu is dealing with a personal matter, per Mitch Bannon of The Athletic reports. It's unclear whether the reliever could rejoin the team before the end of its series in Toronto, or if it's likelier Abreu meets the Astros later this week in Detroit. Logan VanWey was promoted from Triple-A Sugar Land to replace Abreu on the active roster and in the bullpen.

  • Dodgers' Chayce McDermott: Demoted to Triple-A

The Dodgers optioned McDermott to Triple-A Oklahoma City on Monday.

He's clearing out to make room on the active roster for the return of Brock Stewart (foot). McDermott has permitted two runs across 2.1 frames during his brief time in the majors this season.

  • Brock Stewart RP | LAD

Dodgers' Brock Stewart: Reinstated from injured list

The Dodgers activated Stewart (foot) from the 15-day injured list Monday.

Stewart's recovery from a bone spur in his left foot took longer than initially expected, but he's ready to roll now after making four rehab appearances with Triple-A Oklahoma City. The 34-year-old will likely pitch in the middle of games initially, but Stewart has the ability to eventually push for high-leverage outings if he can stay healthy.

  • Drew Rom RP | ATH

Brewers' Drew Rom: Moving back to Triple-A

The Brewers optioned Rom to Triple-A Nashville on Monday.

After being called up from Triple-A Nashville on June 6, Rom was able to see his first big-league action since 2023. He covered 5.1 innings over four appearances during his stay with Milwaukee, logging a 3.38 ERA, 1.88 WHIP and 10:4 K:BB. Rom will cede his spot on the active roster to Brandon Woodruff (shoulder), who was reinstated from the 15-day injured list ahead of his start Monday in Cincinnati.

  • Tim Mayza RP | PHI

Phillies' Tim Mayza: Opening for Phillies on Monday

Mayza will serve as the Phillies' opening pitcher for Monday's contest versus the Nationals, Matt Gelb of The Athletic reports.

Mayza will handle an inning or two before bulk reliever Alan Rangel takes over. The left-handed Mayza has been excellent out of the Philadelphia bullpen, putting up a 2.97 ERA and 33:7 K:BB across 33.1 frames.
