The Mets designated Ingram for assignment Saturday, Anthony DiComo of MLB.com reports.

The move corresponds with the Mets calling up Tomas Nido from Triple-A Syracuse while placing Francisco Alvarez (thumb) on IL. Ingram was optioned to Syracuse in spring training, and he has allowed four runs on five hits and six walks while striking out three over five innings with the affiliate to start the season. His last appearance in the majors was last season with the Dodgers, when he posted an 8.44 ERA and 2.44 WHIP across 5.1 frames.

Helsley (1-2) allowed an unearned run on one hit over one inning to take the extra-inning loss versus the Brewers on Friday.

Helsley was brought in for the top of the 10th inning and gave up an RBI single to William Contreras. While it wasn't a save situation, it ended a four-inning scoreless streak for Helsley. The right-hander is 7-for-8 in saves while adding a 2.45 ERA, 0.91 WHIP and 12:1 K:BB over 11 innings. He continues to operate as a traditional closer rather than in a committee as he had in previous years.

The Marlins selected Tyler's contract from Triple-A Jacksonville on Saturday.

Tyler will return to the majors for the first time since 2022, when he appeared in two games for the Padres. He struggled in his last outing with Jacksonville on April 14, allowing four runs on four hits and two walks over 3.1 innings while striking out four. Tyler will provide bullpen depth for the Marlins after the team transferred left-hander Josh Simpson (elbow) to the 60-day IL on Saturday.

Simpson started the season on the 15-day IL with left elbow ulnar neuritis. He made an appearance with Single-A Jupiter on April 6 and appeared close to returning to the Marlins' bullpen, but the left-hander hasn't pitched since that outing. Right-hander Kyle Tyler was selected from Triple-A Jacksonville in a corresponding move, and Tyler will fill in for Simpson in Miami's bullpen.

Duarte will undergo season-ending elbow surgery on May 8, Bobby Nightengale of the Minneapolis Star Tribune reports.

Duarte initially landed on the injured list due to a triceps strain, and he will now need to go under the knife. It's unclear whether or not the 27-year-old's procedure will be a Tommy John surgery or some other operation, but it will put an early end to his 2024 campaign nonetheless. He allowed one earned run and struck out three batters through four innings across two appearances.

Garrett (3-0) was credited with a blown save and a win Friday, allowing two unearned runs on one hit in the sixth inning against the Dodgers. He struck out one.

Two errors in the inning by Joey Wendle, plus a hit-by-pitch from Garrett, contributed to the Mets coughing up a 4-2 lead, but they reclaimed it for good in the top of the seventh. The 31-year-old right-hander has been outstanding in a long-relief role to begin the season, and his 0.00 ERA and 0.83 WHIP are supported by a dazzling 18:3 K:BB through 9.2 innings over five appearances. It's tough to project him for many more wins given his usage, but if Garrett keeps racking up strikeouts with strong ratios, he'll still have fantasy value in deeper formats.

Little will serve as the 27th man for the Cubs' doubleheader against the Marlins on Saturday, Paul Sullivan of the Chicago Tribune reports.

Little was optioned to Triple-A Iowa on Wednesday, but he's back with the Cubs to provide some pitching depth for their doubleheader Saturday. He has appeared in seven games in the majors this season, posting a 2.70 ERA, 1.35 WHIP and 5:5 K:BB over 6.2 innings.

Holmes gave up two hits in a scoreless ninth inning Friday to record his eighth save of the season in a 5-3 win over the Rays.

The veteran right-hander continued his fast start to the campaign. Holmes does have one blown save on his ledger due to some unearned runs, but through 10 innings he sports a 0.00 ERA to go along with his MLB-leading saves total. With the 14-6 Yankees tied for the best record in the majors, save chances should remain plentiful for the team's undisputed closer.

Alexander came away with a no-decision Friday in a 5-3 loss to the Yankees, scattering two hits and a walk over 5.1 scoreless innings while striking out four.

The left-hander didn't allow a Yankee to get past second base and left the game with a 1-0 lead, but the Rays' struggling bullpen made a mess once again. Alexander tossed 52 of 79 pitches for strikes, and after two straight strong performances, he appears to be locking down a regular turn in the Tampa Bay rotation either as a traditional starter or a bulk reliever -- he's made two appearances this season in each role so far. Alexander will take a 4.79 ERA, 1.35 WHIP and 16:6 K:BB through 20.2 innings into his next outing, which lines up to come at home next week against the Tigers.

Thompson tossed two scoreless innings of relief with four strikeouts in Friday's 8-3 win over the Marlins.

Thompson allowed just a lone walk over his two strong frames Friday, and he kept his season ERA at a perfect 0.00 across six innings. This level of play is of course unsustainable, though the righty could be emerging as a key multi-inning option for the Cubs. Thompson doesn't seem to be in the mix to start anytime soon, however, and his fantasy value will remain limited in a long-relief role.
