Manager Brian Snitker announced Monday that Kerr (elbow) will require Tommy John surgery, Justin Toscano of The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports.

Kerr was moved to the 15-day injured list earlier in the day due to a UCL injury, and Snitker confirmed shortly after that the lefty will undergo surgery to repair the ligament. With the news, Kerr's 2024 campaign will officially come to an end after posting a 5.64 ERA and 1.61 WHIP with a 27:7 K:BB across 22.1 innings. He'll likely also miss a good chunk of the 2025 season depending on how he fares during his rehab.

Sanchez (shoulder) has joined the Marlins in Kansas City and could be cleared to throw a bullpen session in a few days, Christina De Nicola of MLB.com reports.

Sanchez began throwing on flat ground a week ago and might be ready to try things from the bump soon. The right-hander has been out for most of June with shoulder inflammation and will probably require a rehab assignment before being activated. Given the state of the Marlins' injury-riddled rotation, Sanchez will probably be needed to start some games once he's deemed ready.

Major League Baseball suspended Diaz for 10 games Monday for violating prohibitions on foreign substances, Jon Heyman of the New York Post reports.

Diaz was ejected from Sunday's 5-2 win over the Cubs after failing the "sticky substance" test from the crew chief upon entering the game in the bottom of the ninth inning. The suspension will go into effect beginning with Tuesday's game against the Yankees, and assuming he elects not to appeal the ban, the 30-year-old closer won't be eligible to pitch until July 6 against the Pirates. Adam Ottavino and Reed Garrett will be the likely candidates to step in for save opportunities during Diaz's absence.

The Giants selected Burgos' contract from Triple-A Sacramento on Monday.

The move corresponds with the Giants designating Trenton Brooks for assignment. In nine games with Sacramento this season, Burgos has a 1.64 ERA, 0.82 WHIP and 23:2 K:BB over 22 innings. The 25-year-old southpaw will work out of the Giants' bullpen, likely as a multi-inning reliever.

Clarke was placed on the 7-day injured list at Triple-A Nashville on Monday with a toe injury, Curt Hogg of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reports.

Clarke began the season on the injured list after undergoing surgery in late March to repair a torn meniscus in his right knee. He joined Triple-A Nashville after being removed from the injured list May 15, and the 31-year-old right-hander was being stretched out as a possible starting option for the Brewers. Clarke has started in seven of nine games in the minors, holding a 1-0 record with a 3.46 ERA, 1.15 WHIP and 21:6 K:BB over 26 innings. Brewers manager Pat Murphy said Monday that it isn't a season-ending injury for Clarke, but the exact timeline for the pitcher's return is still being determined.

Garcia (elbow) has progressed to long-tossing from 120 feet, Kaitlyn McGrath of The Athletic reports.

Working his way back from right elbow ulnar neuritis, Garcia would seem close to throwing off a mound if he can continue to progress. He was closing for the Blue Jays before getting hurt a week ago and could eventually get that job back, although Jordan Romano (elbow) and Chad Green will be factors.

Romano (elbow) played light catch Monday, Kaitlyn McGrath of The Athletic reports.

Romano felt soreness in his right elbow while throwing loss toss from 120 feet this past Friday, so it's a pleasant surprise he's throwing again already, even if only lightly. The veteran reliever has dealt with elbow problems off and on since spring training, so he'll need to clear several hurdles before a timetable for a return can be mapped out. He's been on the shelf since June 1.

Lovelady (forearm) is scheduled to throw a bullpen session Thursday, Steve Carney of StPeteNine.com reports.

Lovelady was placed on the injured list June 8 due to a left forearm flexor strain. Prior to the injury, he appeared in eight games for the Rays, registering a 7.36 ERA and 1.36 WHIP across 7.1 innings. Lovelady will likely need a few bullpen sessions without any setbacks before beginning a rehab assignment.

Waguespack (shoulder) is scheduled to throw one inning for the rookie-level Flordia Complex League Rays on Tuesday, Steve Carney of StPeteNine.com reports.

Waguespack landed on the 15-day injured list May 6 due to right shoulder inflammation, and he was transferred to the 60-day IL on May 18. His last outing before the injury was May 2 with Triple-A Durham, when he allowed two runs on seven hits while striking out seven over five innings.

The Guardians optioned McCaughan to Triple-A Columbus on Monday.

McCaughan was knocked around for two runs on four hits and two walks over two relief innings in Sunday's 6-5 win over the Blue Jays in his lone appearance with the Guardians following his call-up from Triple-A last Wednesday. He's being sent back to the minors in favor of a fresh bullpen arm.
