Konnor Pilkington RP | DET
Nationals' Konnor Pilkington: Loses 40-man roster spot
The Nationals designated Pilkington for assignment Wednesday.
The transaction frees up a spot on the 40-man roster for waiver claim Tsung-Che Cheng. Pilkington appeared in 34 games for the Nationals last season, posting a 4.45 ERA and 34:17 K:BB over 28.1 innings. The 28-year-old lefty stands a good chance of passing through waivers unclaimed, but if that happens he would have the ability to elect free agency.

Mariners' Jhonathan Diaz: Outrighted to Triple-A
The Mariners outrighted Diaz to Triple-A Tacoma on Wednesday.
Diaz was removed from the Mariners' 40-man roster last week but will remain in the organization after passing through waivers unclaimed. The left-hander has collected a 4.66 ERA and 33:27 K:BB over 46.1 frames covering parts of five seasons at the major-league level.

Kaleb Ort RP | LAA
Angels' Kaleb Ort: Claimed by Angels
The Angels claimed Ort (elbow) off waivers from the Yankees on Wednesday.
After posting a 2.55 ERA and 26:4 K:BB over 24.2 regular-season innings in 2024, Ort regressed to a 4.89 ERA and 49:27 K:BB over 46 innings with the Astros in 2025. He also missed the final month of this past season with elbow inflammation, and it's unclear whether he'll be full-go for the start of spring training. Ort is out of minor-league options.

Pierson Ohl RP | COL
Rockies' Pierson Ohl: Flipped to Rockies
The Rockies acquired Ohl and Edouard Julien from the Twins on Wednesday in exchange for Jace Kaminska and cash considerations.
Ohl had been designated for assignment by the Twins and is now on the move to a new organization. The 26-year-old posted a 5.10 ERA and 27:7 K:BB over 30 innings with the Twins and held a 2.40 ERA and 86:11 K:BB across 71.1 frames in the minors in 2025. Ohl has rotation and bullpen experience but will most likely settle into a relief role in Colorado.

Angel Chivilli RP | NYY
Yankees' Angel Chivilli: Sent to Yankees
The Yankees acquired Chivilli from the Rockies on Wednesday in exchange for T.J. Rumfield, Jack Curry of YES Network reports.
Chivilli has managed just a 6.18 ERA and 71:33 K:BB over 90.1 innings covering two major-league seasons. However, the 23-year-old ranked in the 88th percentile in fastball velocity, the 84th percentile in groundball rate and had whiff rates exceeding 40 percent with both his changeup and slider. There could be some untapped potential for Chivilli as he gets out of Colorado and into the Yankees' pitching development.

Derek Law RP | ARI
Diamondbacks' Derek Law: Signs with Arizona
Law (forearm) signed a minor-league contract with the Diamondbacks on Tuesday, Aaron Hughes of SI.com reports.
Law missed all of last season due to a forearm/elbow injury he originally suffered near the end of 2024. He underwent surgery to address the issue in July and will likely remain sidelined until midway through the 2026 campaign. The 35-year-old reliever turned in a 2.60 ERA over 90 innings with the Nationals during his most recent MLB season and could be a factor in Arizona's bullpen once he's cleared to play.

Jackson Kowar RP | BAL
Mariners' Jackson Kowar: Removed from 40-man
The Mariners designated Kowar (shoulder) for assignment Tuesday.
The 29-year-old righty will give up his place on Seattle's 40-man roster for Jhonny Pereda, who was acquired from the Twins on Tuesday. Kowar made 15 regular-season appearances for the Mariners in 2025 and finished the year with a 4.24 ERA and 1.24 WHIP over 17 frames before a right shoulder impingement ended his season in mid-August.

Yankees' Dom Hamel: Goes to Yankees via waiver claim
The Yankees claimed Hamel off waivers from the Rangers on Tuesday.
Hamel made one appearance for the Mets in 2025 and spent the rest of the year at Triple-A Syracuse, posting a 5.32 ERA and 75:22 K:BB over 67.2 innings. The 26-year-old will compete for a spot in the Yankees' bullpen but does have minor-league options remaining.

Rockies' Patrick Weigel: Inks minors deal with Rockies
The Rockies signed Weigel to a minor-league contract Tuesday, Will Sammon of The Athletic reports.
Weigel is coming off a terrific performance in the Dominican Winter League, having posted a 1.19 ERA and 34:5 K:BB over 30.1 innings. The 31-year-old has not pitched in the majors since 2021, having bounced around between the minors and independent ball since then. Weigel is likely ticketed for Triple-A Albuquerque to begin the 2026 season.
