Justin Topa RP | MIN
Twins' Justin Topa: Picks up third save Friday
Topa notched the save in Friday's 9-7 win over the White Sox, allowing two hits and one walk with no strikeouts in 1.2 scoreless innings.
Topa registered save No. 3 on the year, and each of those have come following the trade deadline. The right-hander appears to have the upper hand over Cole Sands, who worked the seventh inning Friday, in Minnesota's closer committee in the aftermath of the Jhoan Duran trade. Topa has a 0.84 ERA over 10.2 innings in August, whereas Sands owns a 4.50 ERA across his 10 frames this month.

Aside from an ugly blown save Aug. 10 in which he issued five walks, the 32-year-old has now strung together nine straight scoreless outings. Ryan Brasier RP | CHC
Cubs' Ryan Brasier: Lands on IL with groin strain
The Cubs placed Brasier on the 15-day injured list Friday due to a left groin strain.
The injury may explain Brasier's recent struggles out of the bullpen, with the veteran right-hander allowing eight runs on 11 hits and two walks while striking out three batters across five innings in his last six outings. He'll undergo further tests to determine the severity of the injury, but he'll be out of action until at least Sept. 6. In a corresponding move, the Cubs recalled Javier Assad from Triple-A Iowa, and Assad will start against the Angels on Friday.

The 25-year-old has a 4.19 ERA in 38.2 innings with the A's this season. Joey Estes was recalled from Triple-A Las Vegas to fill Perkins' spot on the roster and presumably in the rotation.
