This comes as no surprise as surgery was being considered until a few days ago. His injury paves the way for Jeremy Jeffress to begin the season as Milwaukee's closer.

Biddle was placed on the 15-day DL on Saturday, David O'Brien of the Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports.

Biddle underwent Tommy John surgery in October, so he'll likely miss most, if not all, of the 2016 season.

Kontos pitched a scoreless inning and struck out two on Friday.

In 8.2 innings of work this spring, Kontos has given up nine earned runs and 14 hits versus just five strikeouts. Despite his career best 2.33 ERA and 73.1 innings in 2015, the 30-year-old's numbers were not as impressive as they appeared once you take a glance at his low strikeout rate and high LOB percentage. Kontos will start the season in the Giants' bullpen but will have to regain his form after a rough spring in order to be a fantasy asset in 2016.

Gott was optioned to Triple-A Syracuse on Friday.

Gott was expected to be a middle reliever or setup man for the Nationals this season, but will begin the year at Triple-A Syracuse. In eight spring training appearances, Gott has given up nine hits and three earned runs in 9.0 innings. The 23-year-old was traded from the Angels in December after posting a 3.02 ERA in 47.2 innings of work in the majors last season.

Treinen has won the final spot in the Nationals' bullpen, The Washington Post reports.

He beat out Trevor Gott, who was optioned down to Triple-A, and Sean Burnett for the job. Treinen will likely be used in middle relief and as an occasional set-up man.

Maurer will be on the Padres' Opening Day roster, Jeff Sanders of the Union-Tribune reports.

The hard-throwing right-hander started out this spring with his sights set on potentially landing a spot in the rotation, but the Padres have instead to keep him on the active roster in a bullpen role. Maurer can reach the mid-to-high 90's and he's historically been able to keep the ball in the park, but he's allowed five home runs this spring after giving up just three big flies all of last season. If he can up his strikeout rate (6.9 K/9 in 2015), he'll be a valuable member of the Padres bullpen. That said, Kevin Quackenbush is likely ahead of him in the pecking order if closer Fernando Rodney struggles.

Pomeranz will have a spot in the Padres' rotation, AJ Cassavell of MLB.com reports.

Manager Andy Green said earlier in the week that he'd make a final decision on Pomeranz's role on Friday, and true to his word, he opted to give the journeyman left-hander a spot in the rotation. While this is a boon for Pomeranz's fantasy value, it makes the statuses of Robbie Erlin and Colin Rea all the more uncertain. Pomeranz hasn't started more than 20 games since 2012 when he was a member of the Rockies.

Bracho is a candidate for a final spot in the team's bullpen to start the season, Steve Gilbert of MLB.com reports.

Bracho is expected to battle Jake Barrett, Enrique Burgos and Evan Marshall for the opening, though there could be two spots available if teammate Josh Collmenter starts the season on the DL. The 25-man roster needs to be finalized by 9 a.m. Sunday. Bracho has a 1.42 ERA and eight strikeouts across 6.1 spring training innings.

Edgin (elbow) was placed on the 15-day disabled list Friday.

The 29-year-old is still recovering from Tommy John surgery and is expected to be back by the end of April. Once healthy, Edgin will look to pick up where he left off in 2014 when he posted a 1.32 ERA in 27.3 innings of relief for the Mets.

Thornton was reassigned to Triple-A Las Vegas on Friday.

Thronton will have to wait another year to make his major league debut, as there was simply other better options for the Mets bullpen. He'll head back to Triple-A to act as organizational bullpen depth.
