Beato (hamstring) accepted his assignment to Triple-A Lehigh Valley on Friday, Meghan Montemurro of The News Journal reports.

After injuring his hamstring two outs into his season debut for the Phillies he was designated for assignment and will return to Triple-A. Still, Beato has impressed this season for Lehigh Valley, posting a 2.72 ERA with 27 saves and 36 strikeouts in 46.1 innings.

Mayers has been recalled by the Cardinals on Friday, Jenifer Langosch of MLB.com reports.

It'll be Mayers' third stint with St. Louis this season -- in the first, he gave up two runs in 4.0 innings, while he didn't throw a pitch in the second and stayed with the Cards for less than 24 hours. The former starter is still adjusting to his new role in the bullpen, but should see time in low-leverage situations as Luke Weaver leaves the bullpen to take the place of Adam Wainwright (back) in the rotation.

Melancon gave up one hit over a scoreless inning while picking up a hold in Thursday's 5-4 win over the Phillies.

Manager Bruce Bochy continues to ease Melancon back into action in a middle relief role after it was reported that his elbow isn't back to full strength. The 32-year-old has fired three scoreless innings while picking up two holds since being activated off the disabled list. The Giants want to make sure their big-ticket signing this past offseason is completely healthy before handing him the keys to the ninth, but Sam Dyson's success in the role has made the process move slower than fantasy owners had hoped.

Iglesias struck out three batters during a scoreless ninth inning to collect his 22nd save of the season during Thursday's win over the Cubs.

Iglesias has now converted 10 consecutive saves and struck out 32 batters through 24 innings during that stretch. The Reds aren't going to provide their closer with oodles of save chances, but Iglesias fantasy value remains high because of his strong ratios (1.94 ERA, 1.06 WHIP and 11.5 K/9).

Hoffman (6-5) allowed four runs on six hits and two walks while striking out a single batter through just 4.1 innings during Thursday's loss to Atlanta.

Hoffman allowed four home runs to the Braves, and he's now allowed 11 bombs through his past nine starts. His 5.30 ERA, 1.39 WHIP and 7.2 K/9 are also underwhelming marks, and calling Coors Field home doesn't project to help Hoffman moving forward, either. There is upside for road contests, but being selective with his starts is encouraged. He lines up to face the Royals at Kauffman Stadium next.

Sims (1-3) allowed two runs on five hits and three walks while striking out two batters through five innings during Thursday's win over the Rockies.

After posting a respectable 3.75 ERA, 1.14 WHIP and 10.3 K/9 through 115 innings with Triple-A Gwinnett, Sims had struggled to acclimatize to the highest level through his first three starts in the majors. Hitter-Friendly Coors Field didn't seem to faze the rookie Thursday, though, and the outing checks out an eye-opener for gamers. Still, the 23-year-old righty boasts an underwhelming 5.24 ERA, 1.48 WHIP and 4.4 K/9 through four starts in the majors and will probably continue to offer limit upside. He projects to face the Mariners at SunTrust Park in his next start.

Beato (hamstring) was designated for assignment Thursday, Todd Zolecki of MLB.com reports.

The Phillies added some infield depth in a corresponding move Thursday, selecting Pedro Florimon's contract from Triple-A Lehigh Valley. Beato, who had been rehabbing from a hamstring injury, has been rather effective at the Triple-A level this season with a 2.72 ERA and a 1.13 WHIP across 46.1 innings there. He'll now be subject to waivers but could return to the Phillies if he goes unclaimed.

McGowan was sent down to Triple-A Las Vegas prior to Thursday's game against the Yankees.

McGowan failed to appear in any games with the big-league team after coming up Sunday morning, and will head back down as Gavin Cecchini joins the Mets for added infield depth. During 41 games with Las Vegas this season, McGowan has posted a 3.27 ERA and 1.31 WHIP over the course of 55 innings, and remains a candidate to rejoin the squad in September.

De La Rosa will undergo Tommy John surgery for the second time in his career.

The right-hander first underwent the procedure in 2011. De La Rosa has fleetingly provided fantasy intrigue for his strikeout ability, but he's had trouble limiting walks and -- more pertinently -- staying healthy. This surgery will occur late enough in this season to wonder whether he'll pitch at all in the 2018 season, so perhaps he's best left for deep fantasy consideration in 2019. For what team he'll pitch may be a different matter.

The Diamondbacks optioned Banda to Triple-A Reno on Thursday.

The left-hander returns to the aces after he allowed eight runs in four innings Tuesday. Banda sustained a 7.32 ERA in four big-league starts but wasn't much better in the Pacific Coast League at 5.13. The 24-year-old will work on his approach before likely getting the call again in September. In the meantime, the Diamondbacks probably will announce a new starter for Sunday, when Banda was supposed to take the hill.
