Contreras struck out two in a perfect inning to earn the save in Sunday's 3-2 win over the Mets.

Contreras has allowed just two runs over 10.1 innings while posting a 13:2 K:BB since moving back to the bullpen July 14. He hasn't been a candidate for much high-leverage work, but he got the save chance Sunday as the only Angels reliever to pitch less than twice over the previous five days. Through 48 innings between the Angels and the Pirates this year, Contreras has a 4.13 ERA, 1.35 WHIP and 46:21 K:BB, though it appears his performance has turned a corner after a poor stint in the Angels' rotation. Still, Ben Joyce and Hunter Strickland figure to be the favorites for the few save chances the Angels will generate the rest of the way.

Bido (2-3) allowed three runs (two earned) on six hits and three walks while striking out six over six innings, taking the loss Sunday versus the Dodgers.

Bido earned his first quality start with his longest outing of the year, but he wasn't able to dodge his second loss in a row. The right-hander avoided giving up a home run in a third straight start, but he's posted a 12:7 K:BB over his last 9.2 innings, and it will be tough for him to find steady success if his walk rate remains high. For the year, he's at a 4.64 ERA, 1.39 WHIP and 34:18 K:BB over 33 innings across 10 appearances (four starts). He's tentatively projected to make his next start at Toronto.

Sammons retired all four batters he faced out of the bullpen in Saturday's 6-5 win over the Royals in 11 innings.

After tossing 7.1 innings in bulk relief in his MLB debut July 29 versus the Guardians, Sammons seemed poised to fill one of the three open spots in the Detroit rotation this week. The Tigers instead chose to deploy him in a more traditional relief role in his next appearance, as Sammons entered Saturday's contest in the top of the eighth with two outs and runners on first and second. Sammons induced a flyout to get out of the jam, then tossed a clean ninth inning to help send the game to extras.

Harvey allowed a hit during a scoreless inning and earned a save over Detroit on Sunday. He struck out one batter.

Harvey started his Royals career with some hiccups, allowing four runs in 4.2 innings entering Sunday's contest. He bounced back against Detroit, needing only nine pitches to finish the 3-2 game to earn his first save of the 2024 season. Harvey owns a 4.44 ERA with a 55:16 K:BB through 50.2 innings. Kansas City's closing situation appears to be fluid right now after James McArthur was charged with a blown save for the sixth time in Saturday's loss against the Tigers.

Fairbanks struck out two batters in a perfect inning and earned a save against the Astros on Sunday.

Fairbanks made quick work of Houston's 4-5-6 hitters, needing just 11 pitches to close out the 1-0 victory. He's riding a five-inning scoreless streak and is now 21 for 23 in save chances this season. He's converted 11 save opportunities since his last blown save June 20. Fairbanks is sporting a 2.95 ERA with a 37:16 K:BB through 39.2 innings.

Reyes has made two appearances out of the bullpen for Oakland since receiving a call-up from Triple-A Las Vegas on Tuesday, giving up two runs (one earned) on two hits and two walks while striking out two over two innings.

Reyes was added to the 40-man roster and 26-man active roster as a replacement for right-hander Paul Blackburn, whom the Athletics traded to the Mets on Tuesday. The Athletics are likely to deploy Reyes mostly in lower-leverage spots while he's up in the big leagues.

Alexander (5-3) was the pitcher of record in Sunday's 1-0 win over the Astros, striking out five batters in 4.1 scoreless innings out of the bullpen while giving up two hits and one walk.

After piggybacking starter Jeffrey Springs in his 2024 debut with the Rays in Tuesday's 9-3 win over the Marlins, Alexander operated as more of a bulk reliever Sunday, with opening pitcher Hunter Bigge exiting the contest after retiring two of the five batters he faced. Alexander came on to strike out Jon Singleton to close out of the bottom of the first inning with the bases loaded, then cruised through the next four frames before departing with a 1-0 lead. Alexander should remain the Rays' de facto No. 5 starter until Ryan Pepiot (knee) is ready to return from the 15-day injured list.

Holmes blew his ninth save of the season in Sunday's win against the Blue Jays, striking out one batter in two-thirds of an inning. He wasn't charged with a run and did not allow a hit or a walk.

Holmes came on in the eighth inning with a one-run lead and the bases loaded with one out. He allowed a run to score on a sacrifice fly before striking out Addison Barger to end the inning. There wasn't much Holmes could have done to avoid the blown save, but he has now failed to convert four of his past six save chances and leads MLB with nine blown saves. Even with those hiccups, the 31-year-old owns a 2.76 ERA, 1.31 WHIP and 47:12 K:BB in 45.2 innings this year while converting 23 of 32 save opportunities.

Yarbrough retired all three batters he faced but was charged with a blown save in Sunday's 4-3 extra-inning loss to the Yankees.

Though Kaitlin McGrath of The Athletic reported shortly after Yarbrough was acquired from the Dodgers on Tuesday that the left-hander would likely serve as a member of the Toronto rotation down the stretch, any appointment to a starting role looks as though it'll come later on in the season. Yarbrough has plenty of prior starting experience in the big leagues, but he had worked exclusively out of the bullpen this season with the Dodgers and hasn't recorded more than four outs in an appearance since the All-Star break, so he'll likely need more time to get stretched out before the Blue Jays turn to him in the rotation. In his team debut Sunday, Yarbrough was called upon to protect a 2-0 lead with no outs and runners at first and second, and while he was able to escape the sixth inning with no damage to his ERA, the Yankees successfully manufactured two runs to tie up the game. Jazz Chisholm and Anthony Volpe first executed a double steal, then came around to score on a fielder's choice and sacrifice fly, respectively.

White experienced elbow discomfort during a bullpen session in July and hasn't been cleared to resume a rehab assignment, Evan Petzold of the Detroit Free Press reports.

White has been dealing with elbow issues dating back to spring training, but after being optioned to Toledo on March 8, he made enough progress in his recovery to avoid a stint on the club's 7-day injured list to begin the season. However, White was eventually moved to the development list in mid-April after issuing six walks in 1.2 innings over his first three appearances, and he hasn't made an appearance at the Triple-A level since. White retains a spot on the Tigers' 40-man roster and currently resides on Double-A Erie's 7-day injured list.
