Alexander (0-1) took the loss against the Padres on Tuesday, allowing an earned run on one hit and one walk over two-thirds of an inning.

Unfortunately for Alexander, the one hit he allowed was a walk-off solo home run to Kyle Higashioka, saddling the veteran southpaw with his first loss of the season. Alexander has now allowed an earned run in each of his last two appearances after generating four consecutive scoreless efforts of an inning apiece, but he's still carrying an acceptable 4.00 ERA and stellar 0.67 WHIP across the nine innings covering his 10 appearances.

Thornton (2-1) got the win against the White Sox on Tuesday, firing 1.2 scoreless innings while recording two strikeouts.

Thornton was rewarded for his pristine work -- he cruised through his six-out outing on 11 pitches, 10 of which found the strike zone -- when Cal Raleigh drove home the tying and go-ahead runs in the home half of the seventh inning after the reliever had thrown his last pitch. Thornton has bounced back from a rare stumble against the Angels on May 31 (three runs allowed over two-thirds of an inning) to produce scoreless efforts in three of his subsequent four appearances, a span in which he's recorded a pair of holds in addition to Tuesday's win.

Abreu didn't allow a baserunner and struck out one across a scoreless eighth inning to earn the hold Tuesday against the Giants.

Abreu turned in his fifth consecutive scoreless appearance and has earned four holds in that span. He has a team-high 15 holds this season and is also ranked inside the top five in the league with that mark. Overall, Abreu has an effective 2.88 ERA, though he has issued 20 free passes across 34.1 innings.

The Twins designated Castillo for assignment Wednesday, Do-Hyoung Park of MLB.com reports.

The Twins needed to free up a spot on their 40-man roster for the addition of right-hander Jay Jackson to the bullpen. Castillo had just been sent down to Triple-A St. Paul on Tuesday following a brief stint with the big club in which he allowed two runs with a 3:7 K:BB over seven innings. If Castillo clears waivers, he will have the ability to elect free agency if he chooses to do so.

Suarez dropped to 1-1 on the season in Tuesday's 9-4 loss to the Diamondbacks, allowing four runs on six hits and one walk while striking out three over 2.2 innings.

Suarez made his first start of the season Tuesday and didn't make a particularly compelling case to earn additional turns through the rotation. He allowed a pair of runs in the second after giving up two triples and a single, and Randal Grichuk would tack on a two-run blast in the third to spell an early end to Suarez's night. The 26-year-old's 7.08 ERA on the season is the second-highest in all of baseball among pitchers who have pitched at least 30 innings, trailing only Kyle Hendricks (9.07). If Chase Silseth (elbow) is ready to return from the 60-day injured list the next time Suarez's turn comes up Sunday in San Francisco, the latter will presumably head back to the bullpen.

Adam allowed one hit and struck out two across a scoreless eighth inning Tuesday against the Cubs.

Adam began the season effectively but had an elevated walk rate after issuing 11 free passes across his first 23 innings. However, in his last five appearances, he's maintained a 6:0 K:BB while allowing only one earned run. Overall, Adam leads the team with 11 holds and has also chipped in three saves.

Pressly struck two in a perfect inning to earn the save in Tuesday's 3-1 win over the Giants.

Pressly was called upon to close the game with Josh Hader unavailable after working the previous two days. The 35-year-old got Patrick Bailey to fly out before recording back-to-back punchouts to seal the deal. He now has two saves in the last week, though Tuesday's outing also comes on the heels of a blown save Sunday. Despite holding a 5.19 ERA on the year, it seems as though Pressly still has the advantage over Bryan Abreu for save opportunities when Hader is unavailable to pitch.

Devenski (2-1) didn't allow a baserunner and struck out two in a scoreless ninth inning to earn the win Tuesday against the Cubs.

Devenski entered the game with the Rays down 2-1 and retired the side on 14 pitches. He then managed to earn the win after Brandon Lowe delivered a three-run, walk-off home run in the bottom half of the frame. Devenski has pitched very well since returning from the injured list May 25, maintaining a 2.25 ERA with a 0.88 WHIP and an 8:4 K:BB across eight innings.

Clase gave up a run on two hits and struck out two in the ninth inning Tuesday to record his 20th save of the season in a 5-3 win over the Reds.

He made things interesting with two outs in the ninth, allowing an RBI single to Jonathan India and then plunking Blake Dunn to bring the winning run to the plate, but Clase got TJ Friedl to line out to Brayan Rocchio to end the threat. The right-hander has converted seven straight save chances, putting him one ahead of the Yankees' Clay Holmes for the AL lead in the category, and despite getting tagged for runs in each of his last two appearances, Clase sports a dazzling 0.84 ERA, 0.68 WHIP and 34:3 K:BB through 32.1 innings on the season.

Stanek pitched a perfect inning to earn the save in Tuesday's 4-3 win over the White Sox.

Stanek earned the win Monday after the Mariners won in walk-off fashion, and he was able to protect a lead Tuesday. The right-hander has pitched back-to-back days twice in the last week, while Andres Munoz, who recently dealt with a back injury, has taken the mound just once in that span. Stanek has had mixed results as a setup man in 2024, posting a 4.21 ERA, 1.32 WHIP and 28:10 K:BB over 25.2 innings while adding five saves, 10 holds and two blown saves.
