  • Angels' Carlos Estevez: Converts 14th save

Estevez struck out two in a perfect inning to earn the save in Friday's 3-2 extra-inning win over the Dodgers.

Estevez has not put a runner on base over his last eight innings, striking out eight and earning seven saves and a win in that span. A groundout moved the phantom runner to third base in the 10th inning, but Estevez struck out the next two batters to protect the one-run lead. He's 14-for-17 in save chances with a 3.38 ERA, 0.83 WHIP and 25:3 K:BB over 24 innings. This is arguably the best Estevez has ever looked in the majors, which will boost his trade value, though he's unlikely to be the primary closer on a contender if a deal comes to fruition.

Twins' Jhoan Duran: Takes blown save, loss

Duran (3-3) allowed two runs on two hits and struck out one over one inning Friday, taking the loss and a blown save versus the Athletics.

Miller struck out one in a perfect inning to earn the save in Friday's 6-5 win over the Twins.

Shea Langeliers put the Athletics ahead in the eighth inning, and Miller was able to slam the door in the ninth. He hasn't been charged with a run over his last 4.2 innings while posting a 5:2 K:BB in that span. The closer is up to 14 saves with a 2.08 ERA, 0.81 WHIP and 60:13 K:BB over 34.2 innings this season.

  • Jason Foley RP | SF

Tigers' Jason Foley: Earns 13th save

Foley struck out one over 1.1 innings to earn the save in a 2-1 win over the White Sox on Friday.

Foley was summoned to protect a 2-1 lead with two outs in the eighth inning and induced a groundout from Andrew Vaughn. He hit Paul DeJong with a pitch in the ninth but ended the game with a double play to earn his 13th save of the season. Foley has not allowed an earned run in seven June appearances and is now 13-for-15 in save chances with a 2.67 ERA, 1.22 WHIP and 22:9 K:BB over 27 innings in 2024.

  • Astros' Kendall Graveman: Slight chance at 2024 return

Graveman (shoulder) is in the middle of a throwing program and has a chance of returning in September, Brian McTaggart of MLB.com reports.

Graveman underwent surgery to repair a torn labrum and clean up his rotator cuff in January and was expected to miss the entirety of the 2024 campaign. However, he's been participating in a throwing program and hasn't ruled out a return late in the regular season. Graveman has plenty of steps to complete before reaching that point, however.

  • Hans Crouse SP | BAL

Angels' Hans Crouse: Brought up to majors

The Angels selected Crouse's contract from Triple-A Salt Lake on Friday.

Crouse inked a minor-league contract with the Angels in February and after earning a 2.70 ERA with a 42:7 K:BB across 23.1 innings at Salt Lake, he'll get a much-deserved look in the big leagues. Crouse hasn't appeared in an MLB game since 2021 with Philadelphia.

  • Mariners' Gregory Santos: Scheduled for bullpen session

Santos (lat) is set to throw a live bullpen session in Miami on Saturday, Daniel Kramer of MLB.com reports.

Santos continues to ramp up his activity level as he recovers from a right lat strain that he's been dealing with since February. Saturday's session will mark the first time the right-hander will face live batters, and he's inching closer to a rehab assignment. Santos appeared in 60 games with the White Sox last season, posting a 3.39 ERA, 1.30 WHIP and 66:17 K:BB over 66.1 frames.

  • Luis Contreras RP | HOU

Astros' Luis Contreras: Sent back to Triple-A

Contreras was optioned to Triple-A Sugar Land on Friday.

Contreras' demotion is part of a flurry of roster moves made by the Astros on Friday, as the team needed his 26-man roster spot for Jake Bloss. Contreras didn't appear in a game with Houston after being called up June 16.

  • Yoendrys Gomez RP | MIN

Yankees' Yoendrys Gomez: Back in bullpen

The Yankees recalled Gomez from Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre on Friday.

Gomez fanned the side in his lone appearance with the Yankees earlier this season. He's been used as a starter in the minors but figures to settle in as a long reliever in the majors this time around.
