  • Rays' Manuel Rodriguez: Earns save Tuesday

Rodriguez earned the save in Tuesday's 3-2 win over the Mariners, allowing a hit and striking out a batter over a scoreless inning.

Rodriguez received the save opportunity Tuesday and converted for his second save over the last week. He's been a trustworthy bullpen option throughout the season, posting a 2.28 ERA, 1.08 WHIP and 27:10 K:BB in 27.2 innings, but he will likely remain in a closing committee with manager Kevin Cash also giving save opportunities to Edwin Uceta and Garrett Cleavinger over the last 10 days.

  • Jason Foley RP | SF

Tigers' Jason Foley: Earns one-out save

Foley earned the save against the Angels on Tuesday, retiring the only batter he faced in the ninth inning.

Foley was summoned to protect a 6-2 lead with two on and two outs in the ninth inning and retired Jo Adell for his 18th save of the season. The 28-year-old has not allowed an earned run in 11 August appearances and now owns a 3.23 ERA, 1.27 WHIP and 33:17 K:BB across 47.1 innings this season.

  • Tigers' Mason Englert: Opening Wednesday

Englert will serve as the Tigers' opening pitcher for Wednesday's game against the Angels, Evan Woodbery of MLive.com reports.

Englert was recalled from Triple-A Toledo on Monday, and Wednesday will mark his first time pitching in the majors since June 24. The 24-year-old righty owns a 5.95 ERA and 1.32 WHIP through 19.2 innings with Detroit on the season, although he's allowed five runs (four earned) over 13.2 frames in Triple-A since his last MLB outing. Kenta Maeda is expected to work in bulk relief once Englert is taken out of the game.

  • Twins' Caleb Boushley: Optioned to St. Paul

The Twins optioned Boushley to Triple-A St. Paul after Tuesday's game against Atlanta, Do-Hyoung Park of MLB.com reports.

Boushley was selected from Triple-A ahead of Tuesday's contest, during which he threw two shutout innings, and he'll now head back to the minors in order to clear space for Michael Tonkin, who was claimed off waivers from the Yankees. The 30-year-old Boushley will keep his spot on the 40-man roster, however, leaving open the possibility of a return to Minneapolis before the end of the season.

  • Jacob Webb RP | CHC

Orioles' Jacob Webb: Beginning assignment soon

Manager Brandon Hyde said Tuesday that Webb (elbow) will begin a rehab assignment with Triple-A Norfolk within the next several days, Jake Rill of MLB.com reports.

Webb landed on the injured list Aug. 7 with elbow inflammation and has been throwing since Aug. 17, and he has now been given the green light to return to a competitive environment. The Orioles skipper didn't say exactly how many appearances Webb will make in the minors before returning to Baltimore's bullpen, though it shouldn't take him very long to build back up.

  • Mason Miller RP | SD

Athletics' Mason Miller: Escapes with 22nd save

Miller earned the save in Tuesday's 5-4 win over the Reds, allowing two runs on four hits with two strikeouts in the ninth inning.

Miller allowed two runs on a season-high four hits before striking out Amed Rosario with two runners in scoring position to end the game. Consider it an off night, as the 26-year-old entered Tuesday's appearance having fired 12.1 consecutive scoreless frames and has now converted 10 straight save chances. On the season, he owns a 2.12 ERA, 0.82 WHIP and 122:33 K:BB across 51 innings.

  • Red Sox's Josh Winckowski: Back in big leagues

The Red Sox recalled Winckowski from Triple-A Worcester on Tuesday, Chris Cotillo of MassLive.com reports.

With Luis Garcia (elbow) headed for the injured list, Winckowski will now return to Boston just one day after being optioned to Triple-A. The 26-year-old righty owns a 4.37 ERA and 1.42 WHIP through 59.2 frames in the majors this year, though those numbers are heavily inflated by a six-run, three-inning performance during his appearance against Arizona on Friday.

  • Luis Garcia RP | MIN

Red Sox's Luis Garcia: Placed on injured list

The Red Sox placed Garcia on the 15-day injured list Tuesday with right elbow inflammation, Chris Cotillo of MassLive.com reports.

Since joining the Red Sox in late July, Garcia has allowed 13 earned runs in just 11.1 innings out of the bullpen, and he'll now be held out of action for at least the next 15 days. Josh Winckowski was recalled from Triple-A Worcester to fill the open roster spot.

  • Twins' Caleb Boushley: Contract selected

The Twins selected Boushley's contract from Triple-A St. Paul on Tuesday, Aaron Gleeman of The Athletic reports.

After pushing Trevor Richards off the 40-man roster, the Twins will now call upon Boushley to fill the open spot in their bullpen. The 30-year-old has allowed two earned runs over two innings in the big leagues this season, and he owns a 4.97 ERA and 1.30 WHIP across 116 innings (22 starts) in the minors. He'll presumably serve as a long reliever while with the Twins.

  • Greg Weissert RP | BOS

Red Sox's Greg Weissert: Back in majors

The Red Sox recalled Weissert from Triple-A Worcester on Tuesday, Pete Abraham of The Boston Globe reports.

Weissert was just sent down this past Friday but is back to take the spot of the injured Lucas Sims (lat). The right-hander has collected a 4.10 ERA and 49:18 K:BB over 48.1 frames out of the Red Sox' bullpen this season.
