  • Brian Johnson RP | BOS

Red Sox's Brian Johnson: Returns to Triple-A Pawtucket

Johnson (personal) returned to the roster of Triple-A Pawtucket and started Sunday's game. He allowed four runs on six hits and four walks while striking out one in three innings.

Johnson made it back to Pawtucket after spending the last two months on the temporary inactive list to seek treatment for anxiety. He made four rehab starts, two apiece for the rookie Gulf Coast League Red Sox and at short-season Lowell, and posted considerably better results than we saw Sunday.

  • Red Sox's Craig Kimbrel: Bullpen pushed to Monday

Kimbrel (knee) played catch Sunday and will now throw a bullpen session Monday, Peter Abraham of the Boston Globe reports.

Kimbrel was tentatively scheduled to throw a bullpen Sunday, but it's getting pushed out one day. If all goes well Monday, he will throw another bullpen Wednesday, before facing hitters in a minor league game or simulated game after that, which could come as soon as Friday. That opens up the possibility that he could return sometime next week when the Red Sox are in the middle of an 11-game, West Coast road trip.

  • Buck Farmer RP | CIN

Tigers' Buck Farmer: Optioned to Triple-A Toledo

Farmer was optioned to Triple-A Toledo on Sunday.

Farmer was allowed to be the Tigers' 26th man Sunday due to needing to finish Saturday's game before Sunday's scheduled first pitch. He did not appear in either contest.

  • Rangers' Nick Martinez: Skips Triple-A start Sunday

Martinez will not pitch for Triple-A Round Rock on Sunday, as he could be used in a major league start Tuesday, Evan Grant of the Dallas Morning News reports.

Kyle Lohse is currently slated for that start but isn't guaranteed to make the turn in the rotation after allowing seven runs over 4.1 innings in his last start. Martinez is the other pitcher in consideration Tuesday, but the 25-year-old hasn't had much success in the majors himself this season, allowing 16 runs on 30 hits and 15 walks over 22.1 innings.

  • White Sox's David Robertson: Gives up three homers Sunday

Robertson (2-2) allowed three runs on three hits while striking out one over one inning to blow his fourth save of the year. However, he was credited with a win Sunday against the Tigers.

Robertson was protecting a three-run lead but gave up three solo homers in his one inning. On a positive note, he had fortune on his side when the White Sox scored in the bottom of the frame to give him his second win of 2016. He now has four outings this year in which he's allowed at least three runs, and his ERA has ballooned to a season-high 4.43.

  • Brad Boxberger RP | CHC

Rays' Brad Boxberger: Now targeting early August return

Boxberger (oblique) isn't expected to return from the disabled list until the end of next week at the earliest, Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times reports.

Boxberger has already made three rehab appearances with High-A Charlotte during his current DL stint, but the Rays want him to put together an extended stretch of quality outings in the minors before bringing him back to the big league bullpen. Even though he saved 41 games for the Rays a season ago, Boxberger has missed too much time in 2016 to pose a serious threat to Alex Colome's standing as the club's top closer.

  • Buck Farmer RP | CIN

Tigers' Buck Farmer: Serving as team's 26th man Sunday

Farmer was recalled from Triple-A Toledo on Sunday.

Though the Tigers and White Sox aren't technically playing a doubleheader Sunday, both teams will be allowed to carry 26 men since the two sides have to first conclude Saturday's game, which was postponed in the ninth inning due to rain with the score tied at 3-3. The single game originally scheduled for Sunday will be played immediately after the postponed game is completed, but Farmer is eligible to pitch in either contest. He'll likely be sent back down to Toledo immediately after Sunday's games are completed.

  • Donnie Hart RP | BAL

Orioles' Donnie Hart: Optioned to Double-A

Hart was optioned to Double-A Bowie on Sunday, Roch Kubatko of MASN Sports reports.

As the low man in the pecking order of the Orioles' bullpen, Hart was sent out when the team needed to clear a roster spot for Darren O'Day (hamstring), who will return from the DL following a nearly two-month absence. Hart made three scoreless appearances with the Orioles in his first stint in the big leagues, covering 2.2 innings.

  • Joe Kelly RP | LAD

Red Sox's Joe Kelly: Promoted to majors

Kelly was recalled from Triple-A Pawtucket on Sunday, Brian MacPherson of the Providence Journal reports.

All six of Kelly's previous appearances with the Red Sox have come as a starter, but after struggling mightily in that capacity, he'll work as a reliever in this stint with the big club. He seemed to take well to bullpen duties during his time at Pawtucket, allowing no runs over five innings and striking out nine batters while walking only one. The Red Sox will likely ease him into the relief mix in lower-leverage situations initially, but with top bullpen arms Craig Kimbrel (knee) and Koji Uehara (pectoral) on the DL, Kelly's role could quickly grow if he finds early success.

  • Joe Kelly RP | LAD

Red Sox's Joe Kelly: Called up to Boston

Kelly was called up from Triple-A Pawtucket on Sunday, according to Brian MacPherson of the Providence Journal.

The speculation about Kelly being called up to Boston started immediately following Saturday night's 11-9 loss to the Twins, a game in which the bullpen coughed up a three-run lead by allowing six runs on eight hits in 1.1 innings. Kelly will be used in a multi-inning role.
