  • Rangers' Nick Martinez: Will be recalled and start Tuesday

Martinez will be recalled from Triple-A Round Rock and get the start against Oakland on Tuesday, Jeff Wilson of the Fort Worth Star-Telegram reports.

It will be Martinez's first start since July 4, when he was rocked for six runs and 11 hits in a loss to the Red Sox. The right-hander has a 6.45 ERA in six major league appearances this season, but has dominated Oakland over his last three starts, posting a 2-0 record and a 0.92 ERA. At least for the time being, Martinez is the rotation replacement for Kyle Lohse, who had an unimpressive 12.54 ERA in two starts.

  • Drew Pomeranz RP | CHC

Red Sox's Drew Pomeranz: Holds Tigers to two runs in loss

Pomeranz (8-8) rebounded in his second start with the Red Sox, taking the loss despite allowing two runs in six innings Monday. He gave up four hits, walked two and struck out seven.

Excepting his turbulent first start with Boston, Pomeranz has allowed just three total runs in his last four starts. The lefty has already thrown more innings than in any previous major league season, but if Monday's start is any indication, he should be able to keep his production up down the stretch for the Red Sox. He'll carry a sparkling 2.84 ERA into his start Saturday against the Angels.

  • Yankees' Dellin Betances: Moving back to eighth inning role

Betances will shift back into a setup role following the trade of Aroldis Chapman, Newsday reports.

Slotted behind Chapman and Andrew Miller, Betances had previously been occupying a seventh-inning role despite his 85 strikeouts over 49 innings. His standing may not change much from a fantasy perspective going from the seventh to the eighth, but he'll move up to second in the pecking order for saves behind Miller if the lefty is ever unavailable.

  • Bo Schultz RP | PIT

Blue Jays' Bo Schultz: Fails to finish off Padres

Schultz allowed two hits, one of which was a two-run homer, in the ninth inning of Monday's 4-2 win over the Padres.

Schultz got the chance to finish the game, but only managed to get one out before turning a non-save situation into closer Roberto Osuna's 21st save of the season. It's never a good look when a reliever takes a day off away from the closer, but it's especially bad when that reliever lacks job security. Schultz has bounced back and forth from Triple-A Buffalo to Toronto all season, and he'll hope Monday's failure doesn't require him to get his passport out again to head south of the border.

  • Daniel Norris RP | CLE

Tigers' Daniel Norris: To make another rehab start

Norris (oblique) will make at least one more rehab start before returning to the Tigers, Evan Woodbery of MLive.com reports.

While Norris hasn't experienced a setback, he was shelled in his last outing Saturday, allowing five earned runs and three walks in 4.2 innings of work at Triple-A Toledo. It appears as though the Tigers weren't satisfied with that performance, so he'll take the hill again later in the week before the team makes a call on his status.

  • Red Sox's Craig Kimbrel: Throws bullpen Monday

Kimbrel threw a successful 20-pitch bullpen Monday, Pete Abraham of the Boston Globe reports.

Kimbrel was placed on the disabled list on July 9, with a timetable of a 3-to-6 weeks. It looks like he's currently on the front side of that timetable, with a return of next week looking more likely. Kimbrel will need to have another strong session or two before going on a rehab assignment.

  • Nick Burdi RP | NYM

Twins' Nick Burdi: May not return this season

Burdi is currently doing rehabilitation work in Fort Myers, Fla., and the Twins hope he can begin a throwing program soon, but he may not pitch again this season, the Minneapolis Star Tribune reports.

Burdi tried to pitch through a bone bruise near his elbow before being shut down after just three innings in April. It sounds like throwing in a fall league could be a possibility.

  • Yankees' Aroldis Chapman: Yankees nearing deal with Cubs

The Yankees and Cubs are nearing a deal that would send Chapman to Chicago, Joel Sherman of the New York Post reports.

As currently constructed, Chapman would be the only Yankee making the move to the north side of Chicago, while the Yankees would then take the next few days to see if they're able to make up ground in the American League playoff race before going all-in as sellers (or buyers) at the non-waiver trade deadline. Gleyber Torres is believed to be the top prospect involved as part of the package heading to the Bronx, but the full details of the trade will surface after the terms are finalized, perhaps later Monday.

  • Daniel Norris RP | CLE

Tigers' Daniel Norris: Takes pounding in second rehab start

Norris (oblique) allowed five earned runs on five hits and walked three in 4.2 innings for Triple-A Toledo on Saturday.

Tigers' manager Brad Ausmus had suggested Norris would rejoin the team this week after making the start Saturday, but those results could force him to reconsider. Norris may still be activated from the DL, but optioned to Toledo for more work.

  • Chad Green RP | TOR

Yankees' Chad Green: Gets first career save Sunday

Green pitched the final 2.1 innings of Sunday's win over the Giants, giving up three hits and no runs while striking out one to pick up his first career save.

On a day when trade rumors were swirling around Aroldis Chapman and, to a lesser extent, Andrew Miller, it's interesting that manager Joe Girardi allowed Green to finish the game despite the fact that the Yankees ended up winning 5-2. Should a veteran starter like CC Sabathia end up moving elsewhere at the deadline, Green could be next in line to move into the rotation.
