  • Robby Scott RP | BOS

Red Sox's Robby Scott: Rookie playing role of left-handed specialist

Scott has struck out 12 in 13.2 innings this season with a WHIP of 0.73.

The southpaw has been lethal to left-handed hitters this season, holding them to an. 080 batting average. Because of his success, Scott has received the role as left-handed specialist in Boston. He's appeared in 14 games where he's gotten one out or less, and has struck out six while only letting three batters get on base. Despite the success, the role doesn't give the rookie much playing time, making him a poor fantasy pitcher even for owners in deeper leagues.

  • Twins' Hector Santiago: Struggles again Tuesday

Santiago gave up five earned runs with five hits and four walks in 2.2 innings in Tuesday's loss at Seattle.

After going 4-1 with a 2.76 ERA in his first seven starts, Santiago has a 9.93 ERA in his last six starts. He's allowing 4.8 BB/9 and 4.4 HR/9 over that span. His continued slump could soon jeopardize his spot in the rotation.

  • Daniel Norris RP | CLE

Tigers' Daniel Norris: Fans seven in Tuesday's loss

Norris (2-4) allowed four runs (three earned) on five hits and three walks while striking out seven over six innings in Tuesday's 5-3 loss to the Angels.

Home runs and walks again proved to be Norris' downfall, and the talented but erratic left-hander now has a 4.48 ERA and 1.57 WHIP on the season. Things won't get any easier for him in his next start Sunday on the road against the Red Sox.

  • Jesse Chavez RP | ATL

Angels' Jesse Chavez: Picks up fifth win Tuesday

Chavez (5-6) allowed two runs on seven hits and a walk while striking out four over 5.2 innings in Tuesday's 5-3 win over the Tigers.

He held Detroit scoreless for five innings before tiring in the sixth, a pattern that's been common ever since the 33-year-old began taking a regular turn in the rotation a few years ago with Oakland. Chavez gets a tough assignment in his next start Sunday on the road against an Astros squad with a league-leading .353 wOBA against righties.

  • White Sox's David Robertson: Shakes off bad outing

Robertson retired all three batters faced, one by strikeout, to save Tuesday's 4-2 win over the Rays.

Robertson shook off a season-worst outing two days earlier to record his ninth save in 10 opportunities. His 3.38 ERA doesn't inspire much confidence, but when a save is on the line, opponents are batting just .111 against him.

  • Ken Giles RP | ATL

Astros' Ken Giles: Suffers loss against Royals

Giles (1-2) gave up a two-run homer to Mike Moustakas in the bottom of the ninth Tuesday, letting the Royals walk off with a 9-7 win. He gave up three hits and struck out one in an inning of work.

First he blew the save after coming on in the eighth and allowing the game-tying hit, then he blew the game in the ninth. That's now three straight outings in which Giles has surrendered at least one run, a stretch that's inflated his ERA to 4.24. Still, considering that Giles owns a sparkling 29:8 K:BB over 23.1 innings this year and has converted 15 saves successfully, there's not much cause for concern unless this skid persists.

  • Jakob Junis RP | TEX

Royals' Jake Junis: Mauled by Astros

Junis gave up seven runs on nine hits and three walks over 3.2 innings in Tuesday's eventual win over the Astros. He struck out just one batter.

The rookie was fortunate to be bailed out by a late rally, as this was a disastrous start. He's starred in the minors this year, though, putting up a 2.34 ERA, 0.97 WHIP and 57:8 K:BB over 42.1 innings for Triple-A Omaha; those results will keep Junis on the radar in dynasty formats even if he continues stumbling as a starter in the near term.

  • Red Sox's Craig Kimbrel: Strikes out five in four-out save

Kimbrel struck out five while working around a walk in 1.1 scoreless innings to record his 17th save of the season in Tuesday's win over the Yankees.

Entering with two outs and a two-run lead in the eighth inning, Kimbrel struck out Didi Gregorius but allowed a run to score as the latter reached on a wild pitch. He then walked Chase Headly before striking out Chris Carter and proceeded to strike out the side in the ninth to close things out. Kimbrel has now recorded saves in each of his last five appearances, striking out 13 during that span while lowering his ERA to 1.01 and his WHIP to a microscopic 0.49.

  • Buck Farmer RP | CIN

Tigers' Buck Farmer: Confirmed as Wednesday's starter

Farmer will be recalled from Triple-A Toledo on Wednesday to take the mound against the Angels.

The Tigers were in need of a Wednesday starter after Matt Boyd was optioned to Triple-A Toledo. Farmer enjoyed quite a bit of success in his only other start with the Tigers this season, tossing 6.1 scoreless frames while tallying 11 total strikeouts on May 27 against the White Sox. He'll be a sneaky fantasy option against an Angels' lineup sorely missing the services of Mike Trout.

  • Drew Pomeranz RP | CHC

Red Sox's Drew Pomeranz: Strikes out seven in win over Yankees

Pomeranz (6-3) allowed two runs (one earned) on six hits and two walks across five innings during Tuesday's win over the Yankees. He struck out seven.

Pomeranz yielded an unearned run on a throwing error by Mookie Betts in the second inning and was only scored upon again on a solo home run by Chris Carter in the fifth. He labored at times, throwing a season-high 123 pitches as he struggled to put away hitters, which caused his removal after just five frames. Pomeranz was ineffective at times during the opening portion of the season, but he has pitched quite well over his last four outings en route to a 2.04 ERA, an impressive 32:5 K:BB and a 3-0 record over 22 innings during that span. He will look to keep it rolling Sunday against the Tigers.
