  • Yankees' Dellin Betances: Collects eighth save Saturday

Betances pitched a perfect inning while striking out two to earn his ninth save Saturday against the Red Sox.

Betances, protecting a one-run lead, shut down the Red Sox without an ounce of drama. With Aroldis Chapman no longer the team's official closer, Betances could be in line for more save opportunities, but it also could be difficult to predict when some of the other talented relievers in the Yankees' bullpen may be called upon as well.

  • Edwin Diaz RP | LAD

Mariners' Edwin Diaz: Notches 27th save Saturday

Diaz allowed one run on one hit while striking out one across one inning to earn his 27th save Saturday against the Rays.

Despite giving up a solo homer to Logan Morrison, Diaz still earned the save, as he was protecting a two-run lead. Although his 3.74 ERA is a bit on the high side, his 27 saves make him a strong fantasy option.

  • Michael Fulmer RP | NYY

Tigers' Michael Fulmer: Earns tough loss Saturday

Fulmer (10-11) landed in the loss column Saturday after allowing one unearned run on two hits and three walks through seven innings against the Dodgers. He struck out six.

Fulmer bounced back from a string of rough outings and fired a gem in his second start back from the DL, but the 24-year-old was unlucky and endured his fifth straight loss as the Tigers were shut out. He breezed through the first six frames without allowing a runner into scoring position before a two-base error by Nick Castellanos in the seventh inning led to the only run -- unearned -- scored against Fulmer. He now owns a 3.60 ERA over 23 starts this season, a number he'll look to keep lowering when he faces the White Sox on Friday in his next start.

  • Carson Fulmer RP | PIT

White Sox's Carson Fulmer: Will make spot start Monday

Fulmer (leg) will be recalled to start the second game of Monday's doubleheader against the Twins, Colleen Kane of the Chicago Tribune reports.

The White Sox are shuffling their rotation for the upcoming doubleheader, pushing Lucas Giolito's start to Tuesday while giving Fulmer the Game 2 nod. Fulmer left his most recent start at Triple-A with a leg cramp, but it appears to be a non-issue heading into Monday. Fulmer, a former first-round selection, has not appeared at the big-league level this season and has a troubling 5.61 ERA over 24 starts at Triple-A this season.

  • Albert Abreu RP | CIN

Yankees' Albert Abreu: To return Sunday

Abreu (shoulder) will return from his rehab assignment and start Sunday's game for High-A Tampa, Nick Flammia, the play-by-play announcer for the Tampa Yankees, reports.

Abreu, who has been rehabbing in the Gulf Coast League, struck out six over three shutout innings in his last rehab start. He has explosive stuff and was touching triple digits with his fastball earlier this year. If he can stay healthy, he has a high ceiling as a starter and a high floor as a shutdown reliever.

  • Yankees' David Robertson: Could get saves

Robertson could get some save chances going forward, as Aroldis Chapman was officially removed from the closer's role Saturday.

The Yankees have not specified who will get saves, but Dellin Betances and Robertson figure to be the top two options. Betances is owned in most fantasy leagues, but Robertson may be available and is worth an add, especially for owners chasing saves in deeper leagues.

  • Yankees' Dellin Betances: Could get saves

Betances could get some save opportunities going forward after Aroldis Chapman was officially removed from the closer's role Saturday.

The Yankees have the most talented bullpen in baseball, and David Robertson could also be an option in the ninth inning. All manager Joe Girardi said was that Chapman would be used in different situations as they attempt to get him right. Betances is already rostered in most fantasy leagues, but if he is available, he should be added immediately.

  • Yankees' Aroldis Chapman: Out as closer

Chapman will not serve primarily as the Yankees' closer going forward, as manager Joe Girardi said he will use him "at any point," Bryan Hoch of MLB.com reports.

Chapman has given up seven earned runs in his last 4.1 innings, and the Yankees want to take some of the pressure off in an effort to get him right. This is probably the best bullpen in baseball, so Girardi has some nice replacement options in the short term, but David Robertson and Dellin Betances should be considered the top two options for saves going forward. Chapman could certainly reclaim the ninth-inning role, but he will have to right the ship first.

  • Matt Andriese RP | MIA

Rays' Matt Andriese: Needs two more rehab starts

Andriese (hip), who took a comebacker off his shin in Friday's rehab start, feels fine but still needs to make two more rehab starts before coming off the DL, Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times reports.

The comebacker didn't result in an injury, but it forced him from the mound after just two pitches, so this changes his return timetable. Andreise posted a 3.54 ERA, 1.31 WHIP and 55 strikeouts in 61 innings (12 starts) before landing on the DL. He now lines up to be activated to start Sept. 2 against the White Sox.

  • Twins' Stephen Gonsalves: Unlikely to get Monday's spot start

Gonsalves is still slated to start Sunday for Triple-A Rochester, so it seems the Twins will not turn to him to start one half of Monday's doubleheader, Mike Berardino of the St. Paul Pioneer Press reports.

He would have been able to start Monday on an extra day of rest, and the Twins need to add him to the 40-man roster this offseason to protect him from the Rule 5 draft, so it would have made some sense, but instead it looks like journeyman Tim Melville will get the call as the 26th man before the Twins move back to a five-man rotation. Gonsalves could still conceivably contribute in the big leagues later this season.
