  • Jaime Barria RP | CLE

Angels' Jaime Barria: Walks four in no-decision

Barria allowed one run on four hits and four walks while striking out five over five innings in a no-decision against the Blue Jays on Saturday.

The results were OK -- certainly better than they were in his last outing (six earned runs over four innings) -- but Barria was playing with fire with the season-high four walks. He also gave up a homer to Teoscar Hernandez and has now surrendered eight home runs in his last five starts (25 innings). He's tentatively lined up for a road start in Baltimore in next week.

  • Matt Andriese RP | MIA

Rays' Matt Andriese: Opening Sunday's game

Andriese will start Sunday's "bullpen day" versus the Yankees, Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times reports.

Andriese will open Sunday's series finale against the Yankees, even though Blake Snell was originally listed as the starter. Manager Kevin Cash explained that Snell's designation was actually a communication error, and that the plan had been to give Andriese the start all along in order to afford both Snell and Nathan Eovaldi an extra day of rest. In four June appearances, Andriese has a 5.59 ERA across 9.2 innings.

  • Royals' Brandon Maurer: Squanders save opportunity

Maurer blew a save chance Saturday, allowing one run on two hits and a walk in an inning against the Astros.

Manager Ned Yost turned to Maurer to preserve a one-run lead in the ninth and Maurer couldn't get the job done. This was after lefty Tim Hill successfully converted a save chance Friday -- the first save chance following Kelvin Herrera's trade to Washington. It looks like this will be a committee and Maurer has past ninth-inning experience, but he's struggled mightily at both Triple-A Omaha and in the majors this year and is probably not worth pursuing in mixed leagues unless you're desperate.

  • Lou Trivino RP | PHI

Athletics' Lou Trivino: Earns fifth win

Trivino earned his fifth relief win of the season Saturday against the White Sox, pitching 1.2 innings without allowing a baserunner and racking up four strikeouts.

Trivino entered a bases-loaded, one-out situation with a one-run lead in the bottom of the sixth inning. He allowed the tying run to score on a Yoan Moncada groundout, giving him a blown save, but then struck out the next four batters. His ERA now sits at an impressive 1.48 through 30.1 innings, and he has 34 strikeouts and 13 walks.

  • Blake Treinen RP | LAD

Athletics' Blake Treinen: Grabs five-out save

Treinen recorded his 17th save of the season Saturday against the White Sox. He struck out a pair in 1.2 innings and did not allow a hit or a walk.

Treinen came into the game with one out in the bottom of the eighth, trying to preserve a one-run lead with a man on second base. He got out of the eighth with a strikeout and a groundout. Two batters reached in the ninth inning on errors, but Treinen shut the door by getting Matt Davidson to ground into a double play. The outing lowered his ERA to a stellar 0.98, and he's striking out 11.1 batters per nine innings, making him one of the top closers in the game right now.

  • Tim Mayza RP | PHI

Blue Jays' Tim Mayza: Back with Blue Jays

Mayza was recalled from Triple-A Buffalo on Saturday, Gregor Chisholm of MLB.com reports.

Mayza has bounced back and forth between Toronto and Buffalo this season. In 10 major-league innings, the lefty has recorded a 2.70 ERA. Jaime Garcia was placed on the disabled list with a tender shoulder in a corresponding move.

  • Dylan Covey RP | ATL

White Sox's Dylan Covey: Exits with hip soreness

Covey exited Saturday's game against the Athletics with right hip soreness.

Covey is considered day-to-day. Prior to suffering the injury, he was in the middle of a poor start, allowing four runs on four walks and a pair of hits, and he struck out just one batter in four innings. He did not factor into the decision. His next start was expected to come Friday against the Rangers, though the injury puts that start up in the air.

  • Athletics' Daniel Mengden: Exits with foot sprain

Mengden exited Saturday's game against the White Sox with a right foot sprain, Susan Slusser of the San Francisco Chronicle reports.

Mengden had a tough time before leaving with the injury, allowing five runs on four hits and a walk, striking out just one in two innings. He did not end up factoring into the decision. Mengden has had foot injuries before and had foot surgery prior to the 2017 season. The seriousness of this particular injury is not yet clear.

  • Hansel Robles RP | LAD

Angels' Hansel Robles: Claimed by Angels

Robles was claimed off waivers by the Angels and optioned to Triple-A Salt Lake on Saturday.

Robles was designated for assignment by the Mets on Friday and was quickly scooped up by the Angels to provide some organizational depth. He appeared in 16 games for New York this season, posting a 5.03 ERA and a 23:10 K:BB across 19.2 innings. Look for him to eventually work his way up to the big leagues in the coming weeks, especially with the amount of injuries the Angels' staff has accumulated. In a corresponding move, Rene Rivera was transferred to the 60-day DL (knee).

  • Dylan Covey RP | ATL

White Sox's Dylan Covey: Leaves Saturday's game

Covey exited Saturday's start against the Athletics in the top of the fifth inning, Scott Merkin of MLB.com reports.

The White Sox released an announcement stating an update will come on his condition when more information is available. The right-hander was removed with a three-run lead and was replaced by Chris Volstad. Expect an update within the coming hours.
