Chris Rowley RP | TOR
Rangers' Chris Rowley: Claimed by Texas
Rowley was claimed off waivers by the Rangers on Monday and optioned to Triple-A Round Rock.
Rowley has thrown 19.1 career major-league innings with an ERA of 7.91. He's spent the majority of the season with Triple-A Buffalo, where he had a solid 3.30 ERA in 17 starts. His underlying numbers don't back up that ERA, though, as his 14.5 percent strikeout rate and 9.6 percent walk rate are each poor, leading to a 4.89 FIP.

Luis Santos RP | TOR
Blue Jays' Luis Santos: Starting Monday in bullpen game
Santos will make his first MLB start Monday against the Twins in what amounts to a "bullpen day" for the Blue Jays.
The Blue Jays were hopeful that Marco Estrada (hip) would be ready to come off the 10-day disabled list Monday to fill the vacancy in the team's rotation, but he'll instead make a minor-league rehab start before rejoining the big club over the weekend. As a result, the Blue Jays are expected to lean on a number of relievers to cover the series opener, with Santos likely to handle one of the heftier workloads. He has maxed out at 51 pitches and two innings in his five appearances with the big club this season, so that level of usage probably represents a good baseline of what to expect from him Monday.

Reynaldo Lopez RP | ATL
White Sox's Reynaldo Lopez: Early runs hurt Sunday
Lopez (4-8) allowed five runs on five hits and four walks while striking out one over five innings in Sunday's 8-2 loss to the Mariners.
The Mariners scratched up Lopez for five first-inning runs, using two walks, two infield hits and a sacrifice fly to plate two runs before Ryon Healy's three-run home run effectively sealed the fate of the light-hitting White Sox. Lopez has pitched like the staff ace many times this season, but a pitcher courts disaster when he walks nearly four batters per nine innings (3.9). Lopez has a 6.03 ERA and 1.63 WHIP over his last six starts, increasing his season ERA to 4.13. He'll look for a better result when he next takes the bump Friday at home against the Blue Jays.

Sean Manaea SP | NYM
Athletics' Sean Manaea: Allows two runs in no-decision
Manaea took the no-decision Sunday, yielding two runs on four hits while striking out five across 6.2 innings in the 6-5 win over the Giants.
Overall, it was a pretty strong outing for Manaea and his first start without allowing a home run or walk since June 22. Coincidentally, June 22 was also the last time he struck out at least five batters. The 26-year-old southpaw will carry a 3.38 ERA and 88:24 K:BB into his next start in Colorado on Friday.

Jaime Barria RP | CLE
Angels' Jaime Barria: Slated for Monday's start
Barria will be formally recalled from High-A Inland Empire on Monday and start the Angels' series opener against the White Sox, Fabian Ardaya of The Athletic Los Angeles reports.
Barria was optioned to Inland Empire following his final start before the All-Star break July 11, but that was strictly for the purpose of providing the team with more roster flexibility until his next turn in the rotation came up. A deluge of injuries to the Angels pitching staff this season has created the opportunity for Barria to solidify a rotation spot, and he's done just that. Over 13 starts, the rookie has posted a 3.55 ERA and 1.21 WHIP across 66 innings.

Alan Busenitz RP | CIN
Twins' Alan Busenitz: Shipped to minors
Busenitz was sent to Triple-A Rochester on Sunday, Brandon Warne of ZoneCoverage.com reports.
Busenitz was optioned to make room for Adalberto Mejia, who's slated to start Tuesday's matchup against the Blue Jays. In 10 appearances out of the bullpen this season, Busenitz has accrued an ugly 6.75 ERA and 2.08 WHIP with 15 strikeouts over 12 innings.

Giovanny Gallegos RP | LAD
Yankees' Giovanny Gallegos: Called up by Yankees
Gallegos was recalled from Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre on Sunday.
This move was announced Saturday but became official with Sunday's transaction. Gallegos appears poised for low-leverage relief situations, taking the roster spot of fellow reliever Domingo Acevedo, who was demoted in a corresponding move.

Blake Treinen RP | LAD
Athletics' Blake Treinen: Blows fourth save
Treinen was charged with his fourth blown save of the season in an extra-inning win over the Giants on Saturday, allowing an earned run on a hit, two walks and a wild pitch over two innings. He also recorded three strikeouts.
It was a rare stumble for Treinen, who'd been brought on in his customary ninth-inning role to preserve a 3-2 lead. The frame started out positively enough with Buster Posey and Pablo Sandoval both being retired on groundouts, but Alen Hanson was able to reach on a swinging strike three due to Treinen's wild pitch. A Hunter Pence double then plated the game-tying run, ultimately sending the contest into extras. Given his overall success this season, Treinen is still likely to serve as the Athletics' primary closer in the wake of the acquisition of Jeurys Familia from the Mets, but he could yield occasional save opportunities to the latter in the second half.
-
Donnie Hart RP | BAL
Orioles' Donnie Hart: Sent back to Norfolk
Hart was optioned to Triple-A Norfolk on Sunday.
Hart has been up and down from the minors this season, but hasn't pitched since prior to the All-Star break. He was ultimately deemed expendable when the team needed a roster spot to activate Sunday's starter, Andrew Cashner, but should be back with the Orioles when the team needs a lefty reliever down the road.

Dylan Covey RP | ATL
White Sox's Dylan Covey: Throws gem
Covey (4-5) allowed two hits and two walks while striking out five across 8.1 scoreless innings to earn the win Saturday against the Mariners.
This was Covey's longest start of his career, and the first time he's pitched more than five innings in a start since June 13. He generated 12 groundball outs, limiting the Mariners' opportunity to do any damage against him. However, he generated only seven swinging strikes, making him dependent on limiting hard contact to be successful. While he has flashed that ability for several starts at a time, he has not gotten results consistently enough to be a reliable fantasy asset.
